 32:1 ¶ The word that came to Jeremiah from Jehovah in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar.

 32:1 ¶ The wordº thatº cameº toº Jeremiahº fromºº the LORDº in the tenthº yearº of Zedekiahº kingº of Judah,º whichº [was] the eighteenthººº yearº of Nebuchadrezzar.º

 32:2 Now at that time the king of Babylon's army was besieging Jerusalem; and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the guard, which was in the king of Judah's house.

 32:2 For thenº the kingº of Babylon'sº armyº besiegedººº Jerusalem:º and Jeremiahº the prophetº wasº shut upºº in the courtº of the prison,º whichº [was] in the kingº of Judah'sº house.º

 32:3 For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, Wherefore dost thou prophesy, and say, Thus saith Jehovah, Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it;

 32:3 Forº Zedekiahº kingº of Judahº had shut him up,ºº saying,ºº Whereforeº dost thouº prophesy,ºº and say,ºº Thusº saithºº the LORD,º Behold,º I will giveººº thisº cityº into the handº of the kingº of Babylon,º and he shall takeºº it;

 32:4 and Zedekiah king of Judah shall not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but shall surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and shall speak with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes shall behold his eyes;

 32:4 And Zedekiahº kingº of Judahº shall notº escapeºº out of the handºº of the Chaldeans,º butº shall surelyºº be deliveredºº into the handº of the kingº of Babylon,º and shall speakºº withº him mouthº to mouth,º and his eyesº shall beholdººº his eyes;º

 32:5 and he shall bring Zedekiah to Babylon, and there shall he be until I visit him, saith Jehovah: though ye fight with the Chaldeans, ye shall not prosper?

 32:5 And he shall leadºººº Zedekiahº to Babylon,º and thereº shall he beº untilº I visitºº him, saithºº the LORD:º thoughº ye fightºº withº the Chaldeans,º ye shall notº prosper.ºº

 32:6 ¶ And Jeremiah said, The word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

 32:6 ¶ And Jeremiahº said,ºº The wordº of the LORDº cameº untoº me, saying,ºº

 32:7 Behold, Hanamel the son of Shallum thine uncle shall come unto thee, saying, Buy thee my field that is in Anathoth; for the right of redemption is thine to buy it.

 32:7 Behold,º Hanameelº the sonº of Shallumº thine uncleº shall comeºº untoº thee, saying,ºº Buyºº theeº my fieldº thatº [is] in Anathoth:º forº the rightº of redemptionº [is] thine to buyºº [it].

 32:8 So Hanamel mine uncle's son came to me in the court of the guard according to the word of Jehovah, and said unto me, Buy my field, I pray thee, that is in Anathoth, which is in the land of Benjamin; for the right of inheritance is thine, and the redemption is thine; buy it for thyself. Then I knew that this was the word of Jehovah.

 32:8 So Hanameelº mine uncle'sº sonº cameºº toº me inº the courtº of the prisonº according to the wordº of the LORD,º and saidºº untoº me, Buyººº my field,º I pray thee,º thatº [is] in Anathoth,º whichº [is] in the countryº of Benjamin:º forº the rightº of inheritanceº [is] thine, and the redemptionº [is] thine; buyºº [it] for thyself. Then I knewºº thatº thisº [was] the wordº of the LORD.º

 32:9 And I bought the field that was in Anathoth of Hanamel mine uncle's son, and weighed him the money, even seventeen shekels of silver.

 32:9 And I boughtººº the fieldº ofºº Hanameelº my uncle'sº son,º thatº [was] in Anathoth,º and weighedºº himº the money,º [even] seventeenººº shekelsº of silver.º

 32:10 And I subscribed the deed, and sealed it, and called witnesses, and weighed him the money in the balances.

 32:10 And I subscribedºº the evidence,º and sealedºº [it], and tookºº witnesses,º and weighedºº [him] the moneyº in the balances.º

 32:11 So I took the deed of the purchase, both that which was sealed, [according to] the law and custom, and that which was open:

 32:11 So I tookººº the evidenceº of the purchase,º [both]º that which was sealedºº [according] to the lawº and custom,º and that which was open:ºº

 32:12 and I delivered the deed of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, in the presence of Hanamel mine uncle's [son], and in the presence of the witnesses that subscribed the deed of the purchase, before all the Jews that sat in the court of the guard.

 32:12 And I gaveººº the evidenceº of the purchaseº untoº Baruchº the sonº of Neriah,º the sonº of Maaseiah,º in the sightº of Hanameelº mine uncle'sº [son], and in the presenceº of the witnessesº that subscribedºº the bookº of the purchase,º beforeº allº the Jewsº that satºº in the courtº of the prison.º

 32:13 ¶ And I charged Baruch before them, saying,

 32:13 ¶ And I chargedººº Baruchº beforeº them, saying,ºº

 32:14 Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Take these deeds, this deed of the purchase which is sealed, and this deed which is open, and put them in an earthen vessel; that they may continue many days.

 32:14 Thusº saithºº the LORDº of hosts,º the Godº of Israel;º Takeººº theseº evidences,ºº thisº evidenceº of the purchase,º both which is sealed,ºº and thisº evidenceº which is open;ºº and putºº them in an earthenº vessel,º thatº they may continueºº manyº days.º

 32:15 For thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Houses and fields and vineyards shall yet again be bought in this land.

 32:15 Forº thusº saithºº the LORDº of hosts,º the Godº of Israel;º Housesº and fieldsº and vineyardsº shall be possessedº againººº in thisº land.º

 32:16 ¶ Now after I had delivered the deed of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed unto Jehovah, saying,

 32:16 ¶ Now whenº I had deliveredººº the evidenceº of the purchaseº untoº Baruchº the sonº of Neriah,º I prayedºº untoº the LORD,º saying,ºº

 32:17 Ah Lord Jehovah! behold, thou hast made the heavens and the earth by thy great power and by thine outstretched arm; there is nothing too hard for thee,

 32:17 Ahº Lordº GOD!º behold,º thouº hast madeººº the heavenº and the earthº by thy greatº powerº and stretched outºº arm,º [and] there is nothingººº too hardºº forº thee:

 32:18 who showest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them; the great, the mighty God, Jehovah of hosts is his name;

 32:18 Thou shewestºº lovingkindnessº unto thousands,º and recompensestºº the iniquityº of the fathersº intoº the bosomº of their childrenº afterº them: the Great,º the Mightyº God,º the LORDº of hosts,º [is] his name,º

 32:19 great in counsel, and mighty in work; whose eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men, to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings:

 32:19 Greatº in counsel,º and mightyº in work:º forº thine eyesº [are] openºº uponº allº the waysº of the sonsº of men:º to giveºº every oneº according to his ways,º and according to the fruitº of his doings:º

 32:20 who didst set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even unto this day, both in Israel and among [other] men; and madest thee a name, as at this day;

 32:20 Whichº hast setºº signsº and wondersº in the landº of Egypt,º [even] untoº thisº day,º and in Israel,º and among [other] men;º and hast madeºº thee a name,º as at thisº day;º

 32:21 and didst bring forth thy people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terror;

 32:21 And hast brought forthººº thy peopleºº Israelº out of the landºº of Egyptº with signs,º and with wonders,º and with a strongº hand,º and with a stretched outºº arm,º and with greatº terror;º

 32:22 and gavest them this land, which thou didst swear to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey;

 32:22 And hast givenºº themº thisº land,º whichº thou didst swearºº to their fathersº to giveºº them, a landº flowingºº with milkº and honey;º

 32:23 and they came in, and possessed it, but they obeyed not thy voice, neither walked in thy law; they have done nothing of all that thou commandedst them to do: therefore thou hast caused all this evil to come upon them.

 32:23 And they cameº in,ºº and possessedºº it; but they obeyedºº notº thy voice,º neitherº walkedºº in thy law;º they have doneººº nothingº of allº thatº thou commandedstºº them to do:ºº therefore thou hast causedº allº thisº evilº to comeºº uponº them:

 32:24 Behold, the mounds, they are come unto the city to take it; and the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans that fight against it, because of the sword, and of the famine, and of the pestilence; and what thou hast spoken is come to pass; and, behold, thou seest it.

 32:24 Beholdº the mounts,º they are comeºº unto the cityº to takeºº it; and the cityº is givenºº into the handº of the Chaldeans,º that fightºº againstº it, becauseºº of the sword,º and of the famine,º and of the pestilence:º and whatº thou hast spokenºº is come to pass;º and, behold,º thou seestºº [it].

 32:25 And thou hast said unto me, O Lord Jehovah, Buy thee the field for money, and call witnesses; whereas the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.

 32:25 And thouº hast saidºº untoº me, O Lordº GOD,º Buyºº thee the fieldº for money,º and takeºº witnesses;º for the cityº is givenºº into the handº of the Chaldeans.º

 32:26 ¶ Then came the word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah, saying,

 32:26 ¶ Then cameº the wordº of the LORDº untoº Jeremiah,º saying,ºº

 32:27 Behold, I am Jehovah, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me?

 32:27 Behold,º Iº [am] the LORD,º the Godº of allº flesh:º is there anyº thingº too hardºº forº me?

 32:28 Therefore thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he shall take it:

 32:28 Thereforeº thusº saithºº the LORD;º Behold,º I will giveººº thisº cityº into the handº of the Chaldeans,º and into the handº of Nebuchadrezzarº kingº of Babylon,º and he shall takeºº it:

 32:29 and the Chaldeans, that fight against this city, shall come and set this city on fire, and burn it, with the houses, upon whose roofs they have offered incense unto Baal, and poured out drink-offerings unto other gods, to provoke me to anger.

 32:29 And the Chaldeans,º that fightºº againstº thisº city,º shall comeºº and setºº fireº onº thisº city,º and burnºº it with the houses,º uponº whoseº roofsº they have offered incenseºº unto Baal,º and poured outºº drink offeringsº unto otherº gods,º toº provoke me to anger.ºº

 32:30 For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have done only that which was evil in my sight from their youth; for the children of Israel have only provoked me to anger with the work of their hands, saith Jehovah.

 32:30 Forº the childrenº of Israelº and the childrenº of Judahº haveº onlyº doneºº evilº beforeº me from their youth:ºº forº the childrenº of Israelº have onlyº provoked me to angerººº with the workº of their hands,º saithºº the LORD.º

 32:31 For this city hath been to me a provocation of mine anger and of my wrath from the day that they built it even unto this day; that I should remove it from before my face,

 32:31 Forºº thisº cityº hath beenº to me [as] a provocationº of mine angerº and ofº my furyº fromº the dayº thatº they builtºº it even untoº thisº day;º that I should removeºº it from beforeºº my face,º

 32:32 because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger, they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

 32:32 Becauseº of allº the evilº of the childrenº of Israelº and of the childrenº of Judah,º whichº they have doneºº to provoke me to anger,ºº they,º their kings,º their princes,º their priests,º and their prophets,º and the menº of Judah,º and the inhabitantsºº of Jerusalem.º

 32:33 And they have turned unto me the back, and not the face: and though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not hearkened to receive instruction.

 32:33 And they have turnedºº untoº me the back,º and notº the face:º though I taughtºº them, rising up earlyºº and teachingºº [them], yet they have notº hearkenedºº to receiveºº instruction.º

 32:34 But they set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to defile it.

 32:34 But they setºº their abominationsº in the house,º whichº is calledºº byº my name,º to defileºº it.

 32:35 And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through [the fire] unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.

 32:35 And they builtººº the high placesº of Baal,º whichº [are] in the valleyº of the sonº of Hinnom,º to causeº their sonsº and their daughtersº to passºº throughº [the fire] unto Molech;º whichº I commandedºº them not,º neitherº cameºº it intoº my mind,º that they should doºº thisº abomination,º toº causeº Judahº to sin.ºº

 32:36 ¶ And now therefore thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, concerning this city, whereof ye say, It is given into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence:

 32:36 ¶ And nowº thereforeº thusº saithºº the LORD,º the Godº of Israel,º concerningº thisº city,º whereofº yeº say,ºº It shall be deliveredºº into the handº of the kingº of Babylonº by the sword,º and by the famine,º and by the pestilence;º

 32:37 Behold, I will gather them out of all the countries, whither I have driven them in mine anger, and in my wrath, and in great indignation; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely:

 32:37 Behold,º I will gatherº them outºº of allºº countries,º whitherºº I have drivenºº them in mine anger,º and in my fury,º and in greatº wrath;º and I will bring them againºº untoº thisº place,º and I will cause them to dwellºº safely:º

 32:38 and they shall be my people, and I will be their God:

 32:38 And they shall beº my people,º and Iº will beº their God:º

 32:39 and I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them:

 32:39 And I will giveºº them oneº heart,º and oneº way,º that they may fearºº me for ever,ºº for the goodº of them, and of their childrenº afterº them:

 32:40 and I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from following them, to do them good; and I will put my fear in their hearts, that they may not depart from me.

 32:40 And I will makeºº an everlastingº covenantº with them, thatº I will notº turn awayºº fromºº them,º to do them good;ººº but I will putºº my fearº in their hearts,º that they shall notº departºº fromºº me.

 32:41 Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.

 32:41 Yea, I will rejoiceºº overº them to do them good,ººº and I will plantºº them in thisº landº assuredlyº with my wholeº heartº and with my wholeº soul.º

 32:42 For thus saith Jehovah: Like as I have brought all this great evil upon this people, so will I bring upon them all the good that I have promised them.

 32:42 Forº thusº saithºº the LORD;º Like asº I have broughtººº allº thisº greatº evilº uponº thisº people,º soº will Iº bringºº uponº themº allº the goodº thatº Iº have promisedººº them.

 32:43 And fields shall be bought in this land, whereof ye say, It is desolate, without man or beast; it is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.

 32:43 And fieldsº shall be boughtºº in thisº land,º whereofº yeº say,ºº [Itº is] desolateº withoutºº manº or beast;º it is givenºº into the handº of the Chaldeans.º

 32:44 Men shall buy fields for money, and subscribe the deeds, and seal them, and call witnesses, in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the hill-country, and in the cities of the lowland, and in the cities of the South: for I will cause their captivity to return, saith Jehovah.

 32:44 Men shall buyºº fieldsº for money,º and subscribeºº evidences,º and sealºº [them], and takeºº witnessesº in the landº of Benjamin,º and in the places aboutº Jerusalem,º and in the citiesº of Judah,º and in the citiesº of the mountains,º and in the citiesº of the valley,º and in the citiesº of the south:º forº I will causeº their captivityº to return,ºº saithºº the LORD.º
