 13:1 ¶
And the Lord spoke to Mosheh{gr.Moses}, saying, |
|
 13:1 ¶
And Yahwehº
spakeºº
untoº
Moses,º
saying,ºº |
 13:2
Sanctify to me every first-born, first produced, opening every womb among the children of Israel both of man and beast: it is mine. |
|
 13:2
Sanctifyºº
unto me allº
the firstborn,º
whatsoeverº
openethº
the wombº
among the childrenº
of Israel,º
[both] of manº
and of beast:º
itº
[is] mine. |
 13:3 ¶
And Mosheh{gr.Moses} said to the people, Remember this day, in which ye came forth out of the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}, out of the house of bondage, for with a strong hand the Lord brought you forth thence; and leaven shall not be eaten. |
|
 13:3 ¶
And Mosesº
saidºº
untoº
the people,º
Rememberººº
thisº
day,º
in whichº
ye came outºº
from Egypt,ºº
out of the houseºº
of bondage;º
forº
by strengthº
of handº
Yahwehº
brought you outººº
from thisºº
[place]: there shall noº
leavened breadº
be eaten.ºº |
 13:4
For on this day ye go forth in the month of new [corn]. |
|
 13:4
This dayº
came ye outººº
in the monthº
Abib.º |
 13:5 ¶
And it shall come to pass when the Lord thy God shall have brought thee into the land of the Canaanites{gr.Chananites}, and the Hittites{gr.Chettites}, and Amorites, and Hivites{gr.Evites}, and Jebusites, and Girgashites{gr.Gergesites}, and Perizzites{gr.Pherezites}, which he sware to thy fathers to give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou shalt perform this service in this month. |
|
 13:5 ¶
And it shall beº
whenº
Yahwehº
shall bringºº
thee intoº
the landº
of the Canaanites,º
and the Hittites,º
and the Amorites,º
and the Hivites,º
and the Jebusites,º
whichº
he swareºº
unto thy fathersº
to giveºº
thee, a landº
flowingºº
with milkº
and honey,º
that thou shalt keepººº
thisº
serviceº
in thisº
month.º |
 13:6
Six days ye shall eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day is a feast to the Lord. |
|
 13:6
Sevenº
daysº
thou shalt eatºº
unleavened bread,º
and in the seventhº
dayº
[shall be] a feastº
to Yahweh.º |
 13:7
Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; nothing leavened shall be seen with thee, neither shalt thou have leaven in all thy borders. |
|
 13:7
Unleavened breadº
shall be eatenººº
sevenº
days;º
and there shall noº
leavened breadº
be seenºº
with thee, neitherº
shall there be leavenº
seenºº
with thee in allº
thy quarters.º |
 13:8 ¶
And thou shalt tell thy son in that day, saying, Therefore the Lord dealt thus with me, as I was going out of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}. |
|
 13:8 ¶
And thou shalt shewºº
thy sonº
in thatº
day,º
saying,ºº
[This is done] becauseº
ofº
thatº
[which] Yahwehº
didºº
unto me when I came forthºº
out of Egypt.ºº |
 13:9
And it shall be to thee a sign upon thy hand and a memorial before thine eyes, that the law of the Lord may be in thy mouth, for with a strong hand the Lord God brought thee out of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}. |
|
 13:9
And it shall beº
for a signº
unto thee uponº
thine hand,º
and for a memorialº
betweenº
thine eyes,º
thatº
Yahweh'sº
lawº
may beº
in thy mouth:º
forº
with a strongº
handº
hath Yahwehº
brought thee outºº
of Egypt.ºº |
 13:10
And preserve ye this law according to the times of the seasons, from year to year. |
|
 13:10
Thou shalt therefore keepººº
thisº
ordinanceº
in his seasonº
from yearºº
to year.º |
 13:11 ¶
And it shall come to pass when the Lord thy God shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites{gr.Chananites}, as he sware to thy fathers, and shall give it thee, |
|
 13:11 ¶
And it shall beº
whenº
Yahwehº
shall bringºº
thee intoº
the landº
of the Canaanites,º
asº
he swareºº
unto thee and to thy fathers,º
and shall giveºº
it thee, |
 13:12
that thou shalt set apart every [offspring] opening the womb, the males to the Lord, every one that opens the womb out of the herds or among thy cattle, as many as thou shalt have: thou shalt sanctify the males to the Lord. |
|
 13:12
That thou shalt set apartºº
unto Yahwehº
allº
that openethº
the matrix,º
and everyº
firstlingº
that comethº
of a beastº
whichº
thou hast;º
the malesº
[shall be] Yahweh's.º |
 13:13
Every [offspring] opening the womb of the ass thou shalt change for a sheep; and if thou wilt not change it, thou shalt redeem it: every first-born of man of thy sons shalt thou redeem. |
|
 13:13
And everyº
firstlingº
of an assº
thou shalt redeemºº
with a lamb;º
and ifº
thou wilt notº
redeemºº
it, then thou shalt break his neck:ºº
and allº
the firstbornº
of manº
among thy childrenº
shalt thou redeem.ºº |
 13:14 ¶
And if thy son should ask thee hereafter, saying, What is this? then thou shalt say to him, With a strong hand the Lord brought us out of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}, out of the house of bondage. |
|
 13:14 ¶
And it shall beº
whenº
thy sonº
askethºº
thee in time to come,º
saying,ºº
Whatº
[is] this?º
that thou shalt sayºº
untoº
him, By strengthº
of handº
Yahwehº
brought us outºº
from Egypt,ºº
from the houseºº
of bondage:º |
 13:15
And when Pharaoh{gr.Pharao} hardened [his heart so as not] to send us away, he slew every first-born in the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}, both the first-born of man and the first-born of beast; therefore do I sacrifice every [offspring] that opens the womb, the males to the Lord, and every first-born of my sons I will redeem. |
|
 13:15
And it came to pass,º
whenº
Pharaohº
would hardlyºº
let us go,ºº
that Yahwehº
slewºº
allº
the firstbornº
in the landº
of Egypt,º
both the firstbornºº
of man,º
and the firstbornº
of beast:º
thereforeºº
Iº
sacrificeºº
to Yahwehº
allº
that openethº
the matrix,º
being males;º
but allº
the firstbornº
of my childrenº
I redeem.ºº |
 13:16
And it shall be for a sign upon thy hand, and immovable before thine eyes, for with a strong hand the Lord brought thee out of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}. |
|
 13:16
And it shall beº
for a tokenº
uponº
thine hand,º
and for frontletsº
betweenº
thine eyes:º
forº
by strengthº
of handº
Yahwehº
brought us forthºº
out of Egypt.ºº |
 13:17 ¶
And when Pharaoh{gr.Pharao} sent forth the people, God led them not by the way of the land of the Philistines{gr.Phylistines}, because it was near; for God said, Lest at any time the people repent when they see war, and return to Mizraim{gr.Egypt}. |
|
 13:17 ¶
And it came to pass,º
when Pharaohº
had letº
the peopleº
go,ºº
that Elohimº
ledºº
them notº
[through] the wayº
of the landº
of the Philistines,º
althoughº
thatº
[was] near;º
forº
Elohimº
said,ºº
Lest peradventureº
the peopleº
repentºº
when they seeºº
war,º
and they returnºº
to Egypt:º |
 13:18
And God led the people round by the way to the wilderness, to the Red Sea: and in the fifth generation the children of Israel went up out of the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}. |
|
 13:18
But Elohimº
ledºº
the peopleº
about,ºººº
[through] the wayº
of the wildernessº
of the Redº
sea:º
and the childrenº
of Israelº
went upºº
harnessedº
out of the landºº
of Egypt.º |
 13:19
And Mosheh{gr.Moses} took the bones of Joseph with him, for he had solemnly adjured the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones hence with you. |
|
 13:19
And Mosesº
tookººº
the bonesº
of Josephº
withº
him: forº
he had straitlyºº
swornººº
the childrenº
of Israel,º
saying,ºº
Elohimº
will surelyºº
visitºº
you; and ye shall carry upºº
my bonesº
awayºººº
henceºº
withº
you. |
 13:20 ¶
And the children of Israel departed from Succoth{gr.Socchoth}, and encamped in Othom by the wilderness. |
|
 13:20 ¶
And they took their journeyºº
from Succoth,ºº
and encampedºº
in Etham,º
in the edgeº
of the wilderness.º |
 13:21
And God led them, in the day by a pillar of cloud, to show them the way, and in the night by a pillar of fire. |
|
 13:21
And Yahwehº
wentºº
beforeº
them by dayº
in a pillarº
of a cloud,º
to leadºº
them the way;º
and by nightº
in a pillarº
of fire,º
to give them light;ºº
to goººº
by dayº
and night:º |
 13:22
And the pillar of cloud failed not by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, before all the people. |
|
 13:22
He took not awayººº
the pillarº
of the cloudº
by day,º
nor the pillarº
of fireº
by night,º
[from] beforeº
the people.º |
