 28:1 ¶ And do thou take to thyself both Aaron thy brother, and his sons, even [them] of the children of Israel; so that Aaron, and Nadab and Abihu{gr.Abiud}, and Eleazar and Ithamar, sons of Aaron, may minister to me.

 28:1 ¶ And takeºº thouº untoº theeº Aaronº thy brother,º and his sonsº withº him, from amongºº the childrenº of Israel,º that he may minister unto me in the priest's office,ºº [even] Aaron,º Nadabº and Abihu,º Eleazarº and Ithamar,º Aaron'sº sons.º

 28:2 And thou shalt make holy apparel for Aaron thy brother, for honour and glory.

 28:2 And thou shalt makeºº holyº garmentsº for Aaronº thy brotherº for gloryº and for beauty.º

 28:3 And speak thou to all those who are wise in understanding, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom and perception; and they shall make the holy apparel of Aaron for the sanctuary, in which [apparel] he shall minister to me as priest.

 28:3 And thouº shalt speakºº untoº allº [that are] wiseº hearted,º whomº I have filledºº withº the spiritº of wisdom,º that they may makeººº Aaron'sº garmentsº to consecrateºº him, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office.ºº

 28:4 And these are the garments which they shall make: the breast-plate, and the shoulder-piece, and the full-length robe, and the tunic with a fringe, and the tire, and the girdle; and they shall make holy garments for Aaron and his sons to minister to me as priests.

 28:4 And theseº [are] the garmentsº whichº they shall make;ºº a breastplate,º and an ephod,º and a robe,º and a broideredº coat,º a mitre,º and a girdle:º and they shall makeºº holyº garmentsº for Aaronº thy brother,º and his sons,º that he may minister unto me in the priest's office.ºº

 28:5 And they shall take the gold, and the blue, and the purple, and the scarlet, and the fine linen.

 28:5 And theyº shall takeººº gold,º and blue,º and purple,º and scarlet,ºº and fine linen.º

 28:6 ¶ And they shall make the shoulder-piece of fine linen spun, the woven work of the embroiderer.

 28:6 ¶ And they shall makeººº the ephodº [of] gold,º [of] blue,º and [of] purple,º [of] scarlet,ºº and fine twinedºº linen,ºº with cunningºº work.º

 28:7 It shall have two shoulder-pieces joined together, fastened on the two sides.

 28:7 It shall haveº the twoº shoulderpiecesº thereof joinedºº atº the twoº edgesº thereof; and [so] it shall be joined together.ºº

 28:8 And the woven work of the shoulder-pieces which is upon it, shall be of one piece according to the work, of pure gold and blue and purple, and spun scarlet and fine twined linen.

 28:8 And the curious girdleº of the ephod,º whichº [is] uponº it, shall beº ofº the same, according to the workº thereof; [even of] gold,º [of] blue,º and purple,º and scarlet,ºº and fine twinedºº linen.ºº

 28:9 And thou shalt take the two stones, the stones of emerald, and thou shalt grave on them the names of the children of Israel.

 28:9 And thou shalt takeººº twoº onyxº stones,º and graveºº onº them the namesº of the childrenº of Israel:º

 28:10 Six names on the first stone, and the other six names on the second stone, according to their births.

 28:10 Sixº of their namesºº onº oneº stone,º and [the other] sixº namesº of the restºº onº the otherº stone,º according to their birth.º

 28:11 [It shall be] the work of the stone-engraver's art; as the graving of a seal thou shalt engrave the two stones with the names of the children of Israel.

 28:11 With the workº of an engraverº in stone,º [like] the engravingsº of a signet,º shalt thou engraveººº the twoº stonesº withº the namesº of the childrenº of Israel:º thou shalt makeºº them to be setºº in ouchesº of gold.º

 28:12 And thou shalt put the two stones on the shoulders of the shoulder-piece: they are memorial-stones for the children of Israel: and Aaron shall bear the names of the children of Israel before the Lord on his two shoulders, a memorial for them.

 28:12 And thou shalt putººº the twoº stonesº uponº the shouldersº of the ephodº [for] stonesº of memorialº unto the childrenº of Israel:º and Aaronº shall bearººº their namesº beforeº Yahwehº uponº his twoº shouldersº for a memorial.º

 28:13 ¶ And thou shalt make circlets of pure gold;

 28:13 ¶ And thou shalt makeºº ouchesº [of] gold;º

 28:14 and thou shalt make two fringes of pure gold, variegated with flowers wreathen work; and thou shalt put the wreathen fringes on the circlets, fastening them on their shoulder-pieces in front.

 28:14 And twoº chainsº [of] pureº goldº at the ends;º [of] wreathenº workº shalt thou makeºº them, and fastenººº the wreathenº chainsº toº the ouches.º

 28:15 ¶ And thou shalt make the oracle of judgment, the work of the embroiderer: in keeping with the ephod, thou shalt make it of gold, and blue and purple, and spun scarlet, and fine linen spun.

 28:15 ¶ And thou shalt makeºº the breastplateº of judgmentº with cunningºº work;º after the workº of the ephodº thou shalt makeºº it; [of] gold,º [of] blue,º and [of] purple,º and [of] scarlet,ºº and [of] fine twinedºº linen,ºº shalt thou makeºº it.

 28:16 Thou shalt make it square: it shall be double; of a span the length of it, and of a span the breadth.

 28:16 Foursquareºº it shall beº [being] doubled;ºº a spanº [shall be] the lengthº thereof, and a spanº [shall be] the breadthº thereof.

 28:17 And thou shalt interweave with it a texture of four rows of stone; there shall be a row of stones, a sardius, a topaz, and emerald, the first row.

 28:17 And thou shalt setºº in it settingsº of stones,º [even] fourº rowsº of stones:º [the first] rowº [shall be] a sardius,º a topaz,º and a carbuncle:º [this shall be] the firstº row.º

 28:18 And the second row, a carbuncle, a sapphire, and a jasper.

 28:18 And the secondº rowº [shall be] an emerald,º a sapphire,º and a diamond.º

 28:19 And the third row, a ligure, an agate, an amethyst:

 28:19 And the thirdº rowº a ligure,º an agate,º and an amethyst.º

 28:20 and the fourth row, a chrysolite, and a beryl, and an onyx stone, set round with gold, bound together with gold: let them be according to their row.

 28:20 And the fourthº rowº a beryl,º and an onyx,º and a jasper:º they shall beº setºº in goldº in their inclosings.º

 28:21 And let the stones of the names of the children of Israel be twelve according to their names, engravings as of seals: let them be for the twelve tribes each according to the name.

 28:21 And the stonesº shall beº withº the namesº of the childrenº of Israel,º twelve,ºº according toº their names,º [like] the engravingsº of a signet;º every oneº withº his nameº shall they beº according to the twelveºº tribes.º

 28:22 ¶ And thou shalt make on the oracle woven fringes, a chain-work of pure gold.

 28:22 ¶ And thou shalt makeºº uponº the breastplateº chainsº at the endsº [of] wreathenº workº [of] pureº gold.º

 28:28 And they shall bindººº the breastplateº by the ringsºº thereof untoº the ringsº of the ephodº with a laceº of blue,º that [it] may beº aboveº the curious girdleº of the ephod,º and that the breastplateº be notº loosedºº fromºº the ephod.º

 28:29 ¶ And Aaron shall take the names of the children of Israel, on the oracle of judgment on his breast; a memorial before God for him as he goes into the sanctuary. And thou shalt put the fringes on the oracle of judgment; thou shalt put the wreaths on both sides of the oracle, and thou shalt put the two circlets on both the shoulders of the ephod in front.

 28:29 And Aaronº shall bearººº the namesº of the childrenº of Israelº in the breastplateº of judgmentº uponº his heart,º when he goethºº inº untoº the holyº [place], for a memorialº beforeº Yahwehº continually.º

 28:30 ¶ And thou shalt put the Manifestation and the Truth on the oracle of judgment; and it shall be on the breast of Aaron, when he goes into the holy place before the Lord; and Aaron shall bear the judgments of the children of Israel on his breast before the Lord continually.

 28:30 ¶ And thou shalt putºº inº the breastplateº of judgmentºº the Urimºº and the Thummim;º and they shall beº uponº Aaron'sº heart,º when he goethºº inº beforeº Yahweh:º and Aaronº shall bearººº the judgmentº of the childrenº of Israelº uponº his heartº beforeº Yahwehº continually.º

 28:31 ¶ And thou shalt make the full-length tunic all of blue.

 28:31 ¶ And thou shalt makeººº the robeº of the ephodº allº [of] blue.º

 28:32 And the opening of it shall be in the middle having a fringe round about the opening, the work of the weaver, woven together in the joining of the same piece that it might not be rent.

 28:32 And there shall beº an holeº in the topº of it, in the midstº thereof: it shall haveº a bindingº of wovenºº workº round aboutº the holeº of it, as it were the holeº of an habergeon,º that it beº notº rent.ºº

 28:33 ¶ And under the fringe of the robe below thou shalt make as it were pomegranates of a flowering pomegranate tree, of blue, and purple, and spun scarlet, and fine linen spun, under the fringe of the robe round about: golden pomegranates of the same shape, and bells round about between these.

 28:33 ¶ And [beneath] uponº the hemº of it thou shalt makeºº pomegranatesº [of] blue,º and [of] purple,º and [of] scarlet,ºº round aboutºº the hemº thereof; and bellsº of goldº betweenº them round about:º

 28:34 A bell by the side of a golden pomegranate, and flower-work on the fringe of the robe round about.

 28:34 A goldenº bellº and a pomegranate,º a goldenº bellº and a pomegranate,º uponº the hemº of the robeº round about.º

 28:35 And the sound of Aaron shall be audible when he ministers, as he goes into the sanctuary before the Lord, and has he goes out, that he die not.

 28:35 And it shall beº uponº Aaronº to minister:ºº and his soundº shall be heardºº when he goethºº inº untoº the holyº [place] beforeº Yahweh,º and when he comethºº out,º that he dieºº not.º

 28:36 ¶ And thou shalt make a plate [of] pure gold, and thou shalt grave on it [as] the graving of a signet, Holiness of the Lord.

 28:36 ¶ And thou shalt makeºº a plateº [of] pureº gold,º and graveºº uponº it, [like] the engravingsº of a signet,º HOLINESSº TO YAHWEH.º

 28:37 And thou shalt put it on the spun blue cloth, and it shall be on the mitre: it shall be in the front of the mitre.

 28:37 And thou shalt putºº it onº a blueº lace,º that it may beº uponº the mitre;º uponº the forefrontºº of the mitreº it shall be.º

 28:38 And it shall be on the forehead of Aaron; and Aaron shall bear away the sins of their holy things, all that the children of Israel shall sanctify of every gift of their holy things, and it shall be on the forehead of Aaron continually acceptable for them before the Lord.

 28:38 And it shall beº uponº Aaron'sº forehead,º that Aaronº may bearººº the iniquityº of the holy things,º whichº the childrenº of Israelº shall hallowºº in allº their holyº gifts;º and it shall beº alwaysº uponº his forehead,º that they may be acceptedº beforeº Yahweh.º

 28:39 ¶ And the fringes of the garments [shall be] of fine linen; and thou shalt make a tire of fine linen, and thou shalt make a girdle, the work of the embroiderer.

 28:39 ¶ And thou shalt embroiderºº the coatº of fine linen,º and thou shalt makeºº the mitreº [of] fine linen,º and thou shalt makeºº the girdleº [of] needlework.ººº

 28:40 ¶ And for the sons of Aaron thou shalt make tunics and girdles, and thou shalt make for them tires for honour and glory.

 28:40 ¶ And for Aaron'sº sonsº thou shalt makeºº coats,º and thou shalt makeºº for them girdles,º and bonnetsº shalt thou makeºº for them, for gloryº and for beauty.º

 28:41 And thou shalt put them on Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, and thou shalt anoint them and fill their hands: and thou shalt sanctify them, that they may minister to me in the priest's office.

 28:41 And thou shalt putºº them uponºº Aaronº thy brother,º and his sonsº withº him; and shalt anointºº them, and consecrateºººº them, and sanctifyºº them, that they may minister unto me in the priest's office.ºº

 28:42 And thou shalt make for them linen drawers to cover the nakedness of their flesh; they shall reach from the loins to the thighs.

 28:42 And thou shalt makeºº them linenº breechesº to coverºº their nakedness;ºº from the loinsºº even untoº the thighsº they shall reach:º

 28:43 And Aaron shall have them, and his sons, whenever they enter into the tabernacle of witness, or when they shall advance to the altar of the sanctuary to minister, so they shall not bring sin upon themselves, lest they die: [it is] a perpetual statute for him, and for his seed after him.

 28:43 And they shall beº uponº Aaron,º and uponº his sons,º when they comeºº inº untoº the tabernacleº of the congregation,º orº when they come nearºº untoº the altarº to ministerºº in the holyº [place]; that they bearºº notº iniquity,º and die:ºº [it shall be] a statuteº for everº unto him and his seedº afterº him.
