 22:1 ¶
And it came to pass after these things that God tempted Abraham{gr.Abraam}, and said to him, Abraham{gr.Abraam}, Abraham{gr.Abraam}; and he said, Lo! I [am here]. |
|
 22:1 ¶
And it came to passº
afterº
theseº
things,º
that Elohimº
did temptººº
Abraham,º
and saidºº
untoº
him, Abraham:º
and he said,ºº
Behold,º
[here] I [am]. |
 22:2
And he said, Take thy son, the beloved one, whom thou hast loved-- Isaac, and go into the high land, and offer him there for a whole-burnt-offering on one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. |
|
 22:2
And he said,ºº
Takeº
nowºººº
thy son,ºº
thine onlyº
[son]º
Isaac,º
whomº
thou lovest,ºº
and getº
theeºº
intoº
the landº
of Moriah;º
and offerº
himºº
thereº
for a burnt offeringº
uponº
oneº
of the mountainsº
whichº
I will tellºº
thee of.º |
 22:3 ¶
And Abraham{gr.Abraam} rose up in the morning and saddled his ass, and he took with him two servants, and Isaac his son, and having split wood for a whole-burnt-offering, he arose and departed, and came to the place of which God spoke to him, |
|
 22:3 ¶
And Abrahamº
rose up earlyºº
in the morning,º
and saddledººº
his ass,º
and tookººº
twoº
of his young menº
withº
him, and Isaacº
his son,º
and claveºº
the woodº
for the burnt offering,º
and rose up,ºº
and wentººº
untoº
the placeº
of whichº
Elohimº
had toldºº
him. |
 22:4
on the third day; and Abraham{gr.Abraam} having lifted up his eyes, saw the place afar off. |
|
 22:4
Then on the thirdº
dayº
Abrahamº
lifted upººº
his eyes,º
and sawººº
the placeº
afar off.ºº |
 22:5
And Abraham{gr.Abraam} said to his servants, Sit ye here with the ass, and I and the lad will proceed thus far, and having worshipped we will return to you. |
|
 22:5
And Abrahamº
saidºº
untoº
his young men,º
Abideºº
ye hereº
withº
the ass;º
and Iº
and the ladº
will goººº
yonderºº
and worship,ºº
and come againºº
toº
you. |
 22:6
And Abraham{gr.Abraam} took the wood of the whole-burnt-offering, and laid it on Isaac his son, and he took into his hands both the fire and the knife, and the two went together. |
|
 22:6
And Abrahamº
tookººº
the woodº
of the burnt offering,º
and laidºº
[it] uponº
Isaacº
his son;º
and he tookººº
the fireº
in his hand,º
and a knife;º
and they wentººº
bothº
of them together.º |
 22:7
And Isaac said to Abraham{gr.Abraam} his father, Father. And he said, What is it, son? And he said, Behold the fire and the wood, where is the sheep for a whole-burnt-offering? |
|
 22:7
And Isaacº
spakeºº
untoº
Abrahamº
his father,º
and said,ºº
My father:º
and he said,ºº
Hereº
[am] I, my son.º
And he said,ºº
Beholdº
the fireº
and the wood:º
but whereº
[is] the lambº
for a burnt offering?º |
 22:8
And Abraham{gr.Abraam} said, God will provide himself a sheep for a whole-burnt-offering, [my] son. And both having gone together, |
|
 22:8
And Abrahamº
said,ºº
My son,º
Elohimº
will provideºº
himself a lambº
for a burnt offering:º
so they wentººº
bothº
of themº
together.º |
 22:9
came to the place which God spoke of to him; and there Abraham{gr.Abraam} built the altar, and laid the wood on it, and having bound the feet of Isaac his son together, he laid him on the altar upon the wood. |
|
 22:9
And they cameºº
toº
the placeº
whichº
Elohimº
had toldºº
him of; and Abrahamº
builtººº
an altarº
there,º
and laidºº
the woodº
in order,ºººº
and boundººº
Isaacº
his son,º
and laidºº
him onº
the altarº
uponºº
the wood.º |
 22:10
And Abraham{gr.Abraam} stretched forth his hand to take the knife to slay his son. |
|
 22:10
And Abrahamº
stretched forthººº
his hand,º
and tookººº
the knifeº
to slayººº
his son.º |
 22:11
And an angel of the Lord called him out of heaven, and said, Abraham{gr.Abraam}, Abraham{gr.Abraam}. And he said, Behold, I [am here]. |
|
 22:11
And the angelº
of Yahwehº
calledºº
untoº
him out ofº
heaven,º
and said,ºº
Abraham,º
Abraham:º
and he said,ºº
Hereº
[am] I. |
 22:12
And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the child, neither do anything to him, for now I know that thou fearest God, and for my sake thou hast not spared thy beloved son. |
|
 22:12
And he said,ºº
Layºº
notº
thine handº
uponº
the lad,º
neitherº
doº
thouºº
any thingº
unto him: forº
nowº
I knowºº
thatº
thouº
fearestº
Elohim,º
seeing thou hast notº
withheldººº
thy son,ºº
thine onlyº
[son] fromº
me. |
 22:13
And Abraham{gr.Abraam} lifted up his eyes and beheld, and lo! a ram caught by his horns in a plant of Sabec; and Abraham{gr.Abraam} went and took the ram, and offered him up for a whole-burnt-offering in the place of Isaac his son. |
|
 22:13
And Abrahamº
lifted upººº
his eyes,º
and looked,ºº
and beholdº
behindº
[him] a ramº
caughtºº
in a thicketº
by his horns:º
and Abrahamº
wentººº
and tookººº
the ram,º
and offered him upºº
for a burnt offeringº
in the steadº
ofº
his son.º |
 22:14
And Abraham{gr.Abraam} called the name of that place, The Lord hath seen; that they might say to-day, In the mount the Lord was seen. |
|
 22:14
And Abrahamº
calledºº
the nameº
of thatº
placeº
Yahweh Yireh:º
asº
it is saidºº
[to] this day,º
In the mountº
of Yahwehº
it shall be seen.ºº |
 22:15 ¶
And an angel of the Lord called Abraham{gr.Abraam} the second time out of heaven, saying, |
|
 22:15 ¶
And the angelº
of Yahwehº
calledºº
untoº
Abrahamº
out ofº
heavenº
the second time,º |
 22:16
I have sworn by myself, says the Lord, because thou hast done this thing, and on my account hast not spared thy beloved son, |
|
 22:16
And said,ºº
By myself have I sworn,ºº
saithºº
Yahweh,º
forº
becauseºº
thou hast doneººº
thisº
thing,º
and hast notº
withheldººº
thy son,ºº
thine onlyº
[son]: |
 22:17
surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of heaven, and as the sand which is by the shore of the sea, and thy seed shall inherit the cities of their enemies. |
|
 22:17
Thatº
in blessingºº
I will blessºº
thee, and in multiplyingºº
I will multiplyººº
thy seedº
as the starsº
of the heaven,º
and as the sandº
whichº
[is] uponº
the seaº
shore;º
and thy seedº
shall possessººº
the gateº
of his enemies;ºº |
 22:18
And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because thou hast hearkened to my voice. |
|
 22:18
And in thy seedº
shall allº
the nationsº
of the earthº
be blessed;ºº
becauseºº
thou hast obeyedºº
my voice.º |
 22:19
And Abraham{gr.Abraam} returned to his servants, and they arose and went together to the well of the oath; and Abraham{gr.Abraam} dwelt at the well of the oath. |
|
 22:19
So Abrahamº
returnedºº
untoº
his young men,º
and they rose upºº
and wentººº
togetherº
toº
Beersheba;º
and Abrahamº
dweltºº
at Beersheba.º |
 22:20 ¶
And it came to pass after these things, that it was reported to Abraham{gr.Abraam}, saying, Behold, Milcah{gr.Melcha} herself too has born sons to Nahor{gr.Nachor} thy brother, |
|
 22:20 ¶
And it came to passº
afterº
theseº
things,º
that it was toldºº
Abraham,º
saying,ºº
Behold,º
Milcah,º
sheº
hath alsoº
bornºº
childrenº
unto thy brotherº
Nahor;º |
 22:21
Uz the first-born, and Baux his brother, and Camuel the father of the Syrians, and Chazad, and |
|
 22:21
º
Huzº
his firstborn,º
and Buzº
his brother,º
and Kemuelº
the fatherº
of Aram,º |
 22:22
Azav and Phaldes, and Jeldaph, and Bethuel{gr.Bathuel}, and Bethuel{gr.Bathuel} begot Rebekah{gr.Rebecca}; |
|
 22:22
And Chesed,º
and Hazo,º
and Pildash,º
and Jidlaph,º
and Bethuel.º |
 22:23
these are eight sons, which Milcah{gr.Melcha} bore to Nahor{gr.Nachor} the brother of Abraham{gr.Abraam}. |
|
 22:23
And Bethuelº
begatººº
Rebekah:º
theseº
eightº
Milcahº
did bearºº
to Nahor,º
Abraham'sº
brother.º |
 22:24
And his concubine whose name was Rheuma, she also bore Tabec, and Taam, and Tochos, and Mocha. |
|
 22:24
And his concubine,º
whose nameº
[was] Reumah,º
sheº
bareºº
alsoºº
Tebah,º
and Gaham,º
and Thahash,º
and Maachah.º |
