 41:1 ¶ And it came to pass after two full years that Pharaoh{gr.Pharao} had a dream. He thought he stood upon [the bank of] the river.

 41:1 ¶ And it came to passº at the endºº of two fullº years,ºº that Pharaohº dreamed:ºº and, behold,º he stoodºº byº the river.º

 41:2 And lo, there came up as it were out of the river seven cows, fair in appearance, and choice of flesh, and they fed on the sedge.

 41:2 And, behold,º there came upºº out ofº the riverº sevenº wellº favouredº kineº and fatfleshed;ºº and they fedºº in a meadow.º

 41:3 And other seven cows came up after these out of the river, ill-favoured and lean-fleshed, and fed by the [other] cows on the bank of the river.

 41:3 And, behold,º sevenº otherº kineº came upºº afterº themº out ofº the river,º illº favouredº and leanfleshed;ºº and stoodºº byº the [other] kineº uponº the brinkº of the river.º

 41:4 And the seven ill-favoured and lean cows devoured the seven well-favoured and choice-fleshed cows; and Pharaoh{gr.Pharao} awoke.

 41:4 And the illº favouredº and leanfleshedºº kineº did eat upººº the sevenº wellº favouredº and fatº kine.º So Pharaohº awoke.ºº

 41:5 And he dreamed again. And, behold, seven ears came up on one stalk, choice and good.

 41:5 And he sleptºº and dreamedºº the second time:º and, behold,º sevenº ears of cornº came upºº upon oneº stalk,º rankº and good.º

 41:6 And, behold, seven ears thin and blasted with the wind, grew up after them.

 41:6 And, behold,º sevenº thinº earsº and blastedºº with the east windº sprung upºº afterº them.º

 41:7 And the seven thin ears and blasted with the wind devoured the seven choice and full ears; and Pharaoh{gr.Pharao} awoke, and it was a dream.

 41:7 And the seven thinº earsº devouredººº the sevenº rankº and fullº ears.º And Pharaohº awoke,ºº and, behold,º [it was] a dream.º

 41:8 And it was morning, and his soul was troubled; and he sent and called all the interpreters of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}, and all her wise men; and Pharaoh{gr.Pharao} related to them his dream, and there was no one to interpret it to Pharaoh{gr.Pharao}.

 41:8 And it came to passº in the morningº that his spiritº was troubled;ºº and he sentºº and calledºº forºº allº the magiciansº of Egypt,º and allº the wise menº thereof: and Pharaohº toldºº themº his dream;º but [there was] noneº that could interpretºº them unto Pharaoh.º

 41:9 ¶ And the chief cupbearer spoke to Pharaoh{gr.Pharao}, saying, I this day remember my fault:

 41:9 ¶ Then spakeºº the chiefº butlerºººº unto Pharaoh,º saying,ºº Iº do rememberººº my faultsº this day:º

 41:10 Pharaoh{gr.Pharao} was angry with his servants, and put us in prison in the house of the captain of the guard, both me and the chief baker.

 41:10 Pharaohº was wrothºº withº his servants,º and putºº me in wardº in the captainº of the guard'sº house,º [both] me and the chiefº baker:ºº

 41:11 And we had a dream both in one night, I and he; we saw, each according to his dream.

 41:11 And we dreamedºº a dreamº in oneº night,º Iº and he;º we dreamedºº each manº according to the interpretationº of his dream.º

 41:12 And there was there with us a young man, a Hebrew servant of the captain of the guard; and we related to him [our dreams], and he interpreted [them] to us.

 41:12 And [there was] thereº withº us a young man,º an Hebrew,º servantº to the captainº of the guard;º and we toldºº him, and he interpretedºº to usº our dreams;º to each manº according to his dreamº he did interpret.ºº

 41:13 And it came to pass, as he interpreted them to us, so also it happened, both that I was restored to my office, and that he was hanged.

 41:13 And it came to pass,º asº he interpretedºº to us, soº it was;º me he restoredºº untoº mine office,º and him he hanged.ºº

 41:14 ¶ And Pharaoh{gr.Pharao} having sent, called Joseph; and they brought him out from the prison, and shaved him, and changed his dress, and he came to Pharaoh{gr.Pharao}.

 41:14 ¶ Then Pharaohº sentºº and calledººº Joseph,º and they brought him hastilyºº out ofº the dungeon:º and he shavedºº [himself], and changedºº his raiment,º and came inºº untoº Pharaoh.º

 41:15 And Pharaoh{gr.Pharao} said to Joseph, I have seen a vision, and there is no one to interpret it; but I have heard say concerning thee that thou didst hear dreams and interpret them.

 41:15 And Pharaohº saidºº untoº Joseph,º I have dreamedºº a dream,º and [there is] noneº that can interpretºº it: and Iº have heardºº sayºº ofº thee, [that] thou canst understandºº a dreamº to interpretºº it.

 41:16 And Joseph answered Pharaoh{gr.Pharao} and said, Without God an answer of safety shall not be given to Pharaoh{gr.Pharao}.

 41:16 And Josephº answeredººº Pharaoh,º saying,ºº [It is] not inº me:º Elohimº shall giveºº Pharaohº an answerººº ofº peace.º

 41:17 And Pharaoh{gr.Pharao} spoke to Joseph, saying, In my dream methought I stood by the bank of the river;

 41:17 And Pharaohº saidºº untoº Joseph,º In my dream,º behold,º I stoodºº uponº the bankº of the river:º

 41:18 and there came up as it were out of the river, seven cows well-favoured and choice-fleshed, and they fed on the sedge.

 41:18 And, behold,º there came upºº out ofº the riverº sevenº kine,º fatfleshedºº and wellº favoured;º and they fedºº in a meadow:º

 41:19 And behold seven other cows came up after them out of the river, evil and ill-favoured and lean-fleshed, such that I never saw worse in all the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}.

 41:19 And, behold,º sevenº otherº kineº came upºº afterº them,º poorºº and veryº illº favouredº and leanfleshed,ºº suchº as I neverº sawºº in allº the landº of Egyptº for badness:º

 41:20 And the seven ill-favoured and thin cows ate up the seven first good and choice cows.

 41:20 And the leanº and the ill favouredº kineº did eat upººº the firstº sevenº fatº kine:º

 41:21 And they went into their bellies; and it was not perceptible that they had gone into their bellies, and their appearance was ill-favoured, as also at the beginning; and after I awoke I slept,

 41:21 And when they had eaten them up,ºººº it could notº be knownºº thatº they had eatenººº them;ººº but they [were] stillº ill favoured,ºº asº at the beginning.º So I awoke.ºº

 41:22 and saw again in my sleep, and as it were seven ears came up on one stem, full and good.

 41:22 And I sawºº in my dream,º and, behold,º sevenº earsº came upºº in oneº stalk,º fullº and good:º

 41:23 And other seven ears, thin and blasted with the wind, sprang up close to them.

 41:23 And, behold,º sevenº ears,º withered,ºº thin,º [and] blastedºº with the east wind,º sprung upºº afterº them:º

 41:24 And the seven thin and blasted ears devoured the seven fine and full ears: so I spoke to the interpreters, and there was no one to explain it to me.

 41:24 And the thinº earsº devouredººº the sevenº goodº ears:º and I toldºº [this] untoº the magicians;º but [there was] noneº that could declareºº [it] to me.

 41:25 ¶ And Joseph said to Pharaoh{gr.Pharao}, The dream of Pharaoh{gr.Pharao} is one; whatever God does, he has shewn to Pharaoh{gr.Pharao}.

 41:25 ¶ And Josephº saidºº untoº Pharaoh,º The dreamº of Pharaohº [is] one:º Elohimº hath shewedºº Pharaohºº whatº he [is] about to do.ºº

 41:26 The seven good cows are seven years, and the seven good ears are seven years; the dream of Pharaoh{gr.Pharao} is one.

 41:26 The sevenº goodº kineº [are] sevenº years;º and the sevenº goodº earsº [are] sevenº years:º the dreamº [is] one.º

 41:27 And the seven thin kine that came up after them are seven years; and the seven thin and blasted ears are seven years; there shall be seven years of famine.

 41:27 And the sevenº thinº and ill favouredº kineº that came upºº afterº themº [are] sevenº years;º and the sevenº emptyº earsº blastedºº with the east windº shall beº sevenº yearsº of famine.º

 41:28 And as for the word which I have told Pharaoh{gr.Pharao}, whatsoever God intends to do, he has shewn to Pharaoh{gr.Pharao}:

 41:28 Thisº [is] the thingº whichº I have spokenºº untoº Pharaoh:º Whatº Elohimº [is] about to doºº he shewethººº unto Pharaoh.º

 41:29 behold, for seven years there is coming great plenty in all the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}.

 41:29 Behold,º there comeºº sevenº yearsº of greatº plentyº throughout allº the landº of Egypt:º

 41:30 But there shall come seven years of famine after these, and they shall forget the plenty that shall be in all Mizraim{gr.Egypt}, and the famine shall consume the land.

 41:30 And there shall ariseºº afterº themº sevenº yearsº of famine;º and allº the plentyº shall be forgottenºº in the landº of Egypt;º and the famineº shall consumeººº the land;º

 41:31 And the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of the famine that shall be after this, for it shall be very grievous.

 41:31 And the plentyº shall notº be knownºº in the landº by reasonº ofºº thatº famineº following;ºº forº itº [shall be] veryº grievous.º

 41:32 And concerning the repetition of the dream to Pharaoh{gr.Pharao} twice, [it is] because the saying which is from God shall be true, and God will hasten to accomplish it.

 41:32 And forº that the dreamº was doubledºº untoº Pharaohº twice;º [it is] becauseº the thingº [is] establishedºº byºº Elohim,º and Elohimº will shortlyºº bring it to pass.ºº

 41:33 Now then, look out a wise and prudent man, and set him over the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}.

 41:33 Nowº therefore let Pharaohº look outºº a manº discreetºº and wise,º and setºº him overº the landº of Egypt.º

 41:34 And let Pharaoh{gr.Pharao} make and appoint local governors over the land; and let them take up a fifth part of all the produce of the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt} for the seven years of the plenty.

 41:34 Let Pharaohº doºº [this], and let him appointºº officersº overº the land,º and take up the fifth partºº ofº the landº of Egyptº in the sevenº plenteousº years.º

 41:35 And let them gather all the food of these seven good years that are coming, and let the corn be gathered under the hand of Pharaoh{gr.Pharao}; let food be kept in the cities.

 41:35 And let them gatherººº allº the foodº of thoseº goodº yearsº that come,ºº and lay upºº cornº underº the handº of Pharaoh,º and let them keepºº foodº in the cities.º

 41:36 And the stored food shall be for the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}; and the land shall not be utterly destroyed by the famine.

 41:36 And that foodº shall beº for storeº to the landº against the sevenº yearsº of famine,º whichº shall beº in the landº of Egypt;º that the landº perishºº notº through the famine.º

 41:37 ¶ And the word was pleasing in the sight of Pharaoh{gr.Pharao}, and in the sight of all his servants.

 41:37 ¶ And the thingº was goodºº in the eyesº of Pharaoh,º and in the eyesº of allº his servants.º

 41:38 And Pharaoh{gr.Pharao} said to all his servants, Shall we find such a man as this, who has the Spirit of God in him?

 41:38 And Pharaohº saidºº untoº his servants,º Can we findºº [such a one] as thisº [is], a manº in whomº the Spiritº of Elohimº [is]?

 41:39 And Pharaoh{gr.Pharao} said to Joseph, Since God has shewed thee all these things, there is not a wiser or more prudent man than thou.

 41:39 And Pharaohº saidºº untoº Joseph,º Forasmuchº as Elohimº hath shewedºº theeº allº this,º [there is] noneº so discreetºº and wiseº as thouº [art]:

 41:40 Thou shalt be over my house, and all my people shall be obedient to thy word; only in the throne will I excel thee.

 41:40 Thouº shalt beºº overº my house,º and according untoº thy wordº shall allº my peopleº be ruled:ºº onlyº in the throneº will I be greaterºº thanº thou.

 41:41 And Pharaoh{gr.Pharao} said to Joseph, Behold, I set thee this day over all the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}.

 41:41 And Pharaohº saidºº untoº Joseph,º See,ºº I have setºº thee overº allº the landº of Egypt.º

 41:42 And Pharaoh{gr.Pharao} took his ring off his hand, and put it on the hand of Joseph, and put on him a robe of fine linen, and put a necklace of gold about his neck.

 41:42 And Pharaohº took offººº his ringº fromºº his hand,º and putºº it uponº Joseph'sº hand,º and arrayedºº him in vesturesº of fine linen,º and putºº a goldº chainº aboutº his neck;º

 41:43 And he mounted him on the second of his chariots, and a herald made proclamation before him; and he set him over all the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}.

 41:43 And he made him to rideºº in the secondº chariotº whichº he had; and they criedºº beforeº him,º Bow the knee:º and he madeºº him [ruler] overº allº the landº of Egypt.º

 41:44 And Pharaoh{gr.Pharao} said to Joseph, I am Pharaoh{gr.Pharao}; without thee no one shall lift up his hand on all the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}.

 41:44 And Pharaohº saidºº untoº Joseph,º Iº [am] Pharaoh,º and withoutº thee shall noº manº lift upººº his handº or footº in allº the landº of Egypt.º

 41:45 And Pharaoh{gr.Pharao} called the name of Joseph, Psonthomphanech; and he gave him Aseneth, the daughter of Petephres, priest of Heliopolis, to wife.

 41:45 And Pharaohº calledºº Joseph'sº nameº Zaphnathpaaneah;º and he gaveºº him to wifeºº Asenathº the daughterº of Potipherahº priestº of On.º And Josephº went outºº overº [all] the landº of Egypt.º

 41:46 ¶ And Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh{gr.Pharao}, king of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh{gr.Pharao}, and went through all the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}.

 41:46 ¶ And Josephº [was] thirtyº yearsº oldº when he stoodºº beforeº Pharaohº kingº of Egypt.º And Josephº went outºº from the presenceºº of Pharaoh,º and wentº throughoutºº allº the landº of Egypt.º

 41:47 And the land produced, in the seven years of plenty, [whole] handfuls [of corn].

 41:47 And in the sevenº plenteousº yearsº the earthº brought forthºº by handfuls.º

 41:48 And he gathered all the food of the seven years, in which was the plenty in the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}; and he laid up the food in the cities; the food of the fields of a city round about it he laid up in it.

 41:48 And he gathered upººº allº the foodº of the sevenº years,º whichº wereº in the landº of Egypt,º and laid upºº the foodº in the cities:º the foodº of the field,º whichº [was] round aboutº every city,º laid he upºº in the same.º

 41:49 And Joseph gathered very much corn as the sand of the sea, until it could not be numbered, for there was no number [of it].

 41:49 And Josephº gatheredºº cornº as the sandº of the sea,º veryº much,ºº untilº he leftºº numbering;ºº forº [it was] withoutº number.º

 41:50 And to Joseph were born two sons, before the seven years of famine came, which Aseneth, the daughter of Petephres, priest of Heliopolis, bore to him.

 41:50 And unto Josephº were bornºº twoº sonsº beforeº the yearsº of famineº came,ºº whichº Asenathº the daughterº of Potipherahº priestº of Onº bareºº unto him.

 41:51 And Joseph called the name of the first-born, Manasseh{gr.Manasse}; for God, [said he], has made me forget all my toils, and all my father's house.

 41:51 And Josephº calledººº the nameº of the firstbornº Manasseh:º Forº Elohim,º [said he], hath made me forgetººº allº my toil,º and allº my father'sº house.º

 41:52 And he called the name of the second, Ephraim; for God, [said he], has increased me in the land of my humiliation.

 41:52 And the nameº of the secondº calledºº he Ephraim:º Forº Elohimº hath caused me to be fruitfulºº in the landº of my affliction.º

 41:53 ¶ And the seven years of plenty passed away, which were in the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}.

 41:53 ¶ And the sevenº yearsº of plenteousness,º thatº wasº in the landº of Egypt,º were ended.ºº

 41:54 And the seven years of famine began to come, as Joseph said; and there was a famine in all the land; but in all the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt} there was bread.

 41:54 And the sevenº yearsº of dearthº beganºº to come,ºº according asº Josephº had said:ºº and the dearthº wasº in allº lands;º but in allº the landº of Egyptº there wasº bread.º

 41:55 And all the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt} was hungry; and the people cried to Pharaoh{gr.Pharao} for bread. And Pharaoh{gr.Pharao} said to all the Mizraimites{gr.Egyptians}, Go to Joseph, and do whatsoever he shall tell you.

 41:55 And when allº the landº of Egyptº was famished,ºº the peopleº criedºº toº Pharaohº for bread:º and Pharaohº saidºº unto allº the Egyptians,º Goººº untoº Joseph;º whatº he saithºº to you, do.ºº

 41:56 And the famine was on the face of all the earth; and Joseph opened all the granaries, and sold to all the Mizraimites{gr.Egyptians}.

 41:56 And the famineº wasº overº allº the faceº of the earth:º And Josephº openedººº allº the storehouses,º and soldºº unto the Egyptians;º and the famineº waxed soreºº in the landº of Egypt.º

 41:57 And all countries came to Mizraim{gr.Egypt} to buy of Joseph, for the famine prevailed in all the earth.

 41:57 And allº countriesº cameºº into Egyptº toº Josephº for to buyºº [corn]; becauseº that the famineº was [so] soreºº in allº lands.º
