 21:1 ¶ THE WORD THAT CAME FROM THE LORD TO JEREMIAH{gr.JEREMIAS}, WHEN KING ZEDEKIAH{gr.SEDEKIAS} SENT TO HIM PASCHOR THE SON OF MELCHIAH{gr.MELCHIAS}, AND ZEPHANIAH{gr.SOPHONIAS} SON OF BASAEAS, THE PRIEST, SAYING,

 21:1 ¶ The wordº whichº cameº untoº Jeremiahº fromºº Yahweh,º when kingº Zedekiahº sentºº untoº himº Pashurº the sonº of Melchiah,º and Zephaniahº the sonº of Maaseiahº the priest,º saying,ºº

 21:2 Enquire of the Lord for us; for the king of Babylon has risen up against us; if the Lord will do according to all his wonderful works, and [the king] shall depart from us.

 21:2 Enquire,ºº I pray thee,º ofº Yahwehº forº us;º forº Nebuchadrezzarº kingº of Babylonº maketh warºº againstº us; if so beº that Yahwehº will dealºº withº us according to allº his wondrous works,ºº that he may go upºº fromºº us.

 21:3 ¶ And Jeremiah{gr.Jeremias} said to them, Thus shall ye say to Zedekiah{gr.Sedekias} king of Judah{gr.Juda},

 21:3 ¶ Then saidºº Jeremiahº untoº them, Thusº shall ye sayºº toº Zedekiah:º

 21:4 Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I [will] turn back the weapons of war wherewith ye fight against the Chaldeans that have besieged you from outside the wall, and I will gather them into the midst of this city.

 21:4 Thusº saithºº Yahwehº Elohimº of Israel;º Behold,º I will turn backººº the weaponsº of warº thatº [are] in your hands,º wherewithº yeº fightºº againstº the kingº of Babylon,º and [against] the Chaldeans,º which besiegeººº you withoutºº the walls,º and I will assembleºº them intoº the midstº of thisº city.º

 21:5 And I will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, with wrath and great anger.

 21:5 And I myselfº will fightºº againstº you with an outstretchedºº handº and with a strongº arm,º even in anger,º and in fury,º and in greatº wrath.º

 21:6 And I will smite all the dwellers in this city, [both] men and cattle, with grievous pestilence: and they shall die.

 21:6 And I will smiteººº the inhabitantsºº of thisº city,º both manº and beast:º they shall dieºº of a greatº pestilence.º

 21:7 And after this, thus saith the Lord; I will give Zedekiah{gr.Sedekias} king of Judah{gr.Juda}, and his servants, and the people that is left in this city from the pestilence, and from the famine, and from the sword, into the hands of their enemies, that seek their lives: and they shall cut them in pieces with the edge of the sword: I will not spare them, and I will not have compassion upon them.

 21:7 And afterward,ºº saithºº Yahweh,º I will deliverººº Zedekiahº kingº of Judah,º and his servants,º and the people,º and such as are leftºº in thisº cityº fromº the pestilence,º fromº the sword,º and fromº the famine,º into the handº of Nebuchadrezzarº kingº of Babylon,º and into the handº of their enemies,ºº and into the handº of those that seekºº their life:º and he shall smiteºº them with the edgeº of the sword;º he shall notº spareººº them, neitherº have pity,ºº norº have mercy.ºº

 21:8 ¶ And thou shalt say to this people, Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I have set before you the way of life, and the way of death.

 21:8 ¶ And untoº thisº peopleº thou shalt say,ºº Thusº saithºº Yahweh;º Behold,º I setºº beforeº youº the wayº of life,º and the wayº of death.º

 21:9 He that remains in this city shall die by the sword, and by famine: but he that goes forth to advance to the Chaldeans that have besieged you, shall live, and his life shall be to him for a spoil, and he shall live.

 21:9 He that abidethºº in thisº cityº shall dieºº by the sword,º and by the famine,º and by the pestilence:º but he that goeth out,ºº and fallethºº toº the Chaldeansº that besiegeººº you, he shall live,ºººº and his lifeº shall beº unto him for a prey.º

 21:10 For I have set my face against this city for evil, and not for good: it shall be delivered into the hands of the king of Babylon, and he shall consume it with fire.

 21:10 Forº I have setºº my faceº against thisº cityº for evil,º and notº for good,º saithºº Yahweh:º it shall be givenºº into the handº of the kingº of Babylon,º and he shall burnºº it with fire.º

 21:11 ¶ O house of the king of Judah{gr.Juda}, hear ye the word of the Lord.

 21:11 ¶ And touching the houseº of the kingº of Judah,º [say], Hearºº ye the wordº of Yahweh;º

 21:12 O house of David, thus saith the Lord; Judge judgment in the morning, and act rightly, and rescue the spoiled one from the hand of him that wrongs him, lest mine anger be kindled like fire, and it burn, and there be none to quench [it].

 21:12 O houseº of David,º thusº saithºº Yahweh;º Executeºº judgmentº in the morning,º and deliverºº [him that is] spoiledºº out of the handºº of the oppressor,ºº lestº my furyº go outºº like fire,º and burnºº that noneº can quenchºº [it], becauseºº of the evilº of your doings.º

 21:13 Behold, I am against thee that dwellest in the valley of Tyrus{gr.Sor}; in the plain country, [even against] them that say, Who shall alarm us? or who shall enter into our habitation?

 21:13 Behold,º I [am] againstº thee, O inhabitantºº of the valley,º [and] rockº of the plain,º saithºº Yahweh;º which say,ºº Whoº shall come downºº againstº us? or whoº shall enterºº into our habitations?º

 21:14 And I will kindle a fire in the forest thereof, and it shall devour all things round about it.

 21:14 But I will punishººº you according to the fruitº of your doings,º saithºº Yahweh:º and I will kindleºº a fireº in the forestº thereof, and it shall devourºº all thingsº round aboutº it.
