 25:1 ¶
THE WORD THAT CAME TO JEREMIAH{gr.JEREMIAS} concerning all the people of Judah{gr.Juda} in the fourth year of Jehoiakim{gr.Joakim}, son of Josiah{gr.Josias}, king of Judah{gr.Juda}; |
|
 25:1 ¶
The wordº
thatº
cameº
toº
Jeremiahº
concerningº
allº
the peopleº
of Judahº
in the fourthº
yearº
of Jehoiakimº
the sonº
of Josiahº
kingº
of Judah,º
thatº
[was] the firstº
yearº
of Nebuchadrezzarº
kingº
of Babylon;º |
 25:2
which he spoke to all the people of Judah{gr.Juda}, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, |
|
 25:2
The whichº
Jeremiahº
the prophetº
spakeºº
untoº
allº
the peopleº
of Judah,º
and toº
allº
the inhabitantsºº
of Jerusalem,º
saying,ºº |
 25:3
In the thirteenth year of Josiah{gr.Josias}, son of Amos, king of Judah{gr.Juda}, even until this day for three and twenty years, I have both spoken to you, rising early and speaking, |
|
 25:3
Fromº
the thirteenthºº
yearº
of Josiahº
the sonº
of Amonº
kingº
of Judah,º
even untoº
thisº
day,º
thatº
[is] the threeº
and twentiethº
year,º
the wordº
of Yahwehº
hath comeº
untoº
me, and I have spokenºº
untoº
you, rising earlyºº
and speaking;ºº
but ye have notº
hearkened.ºº |
 25:4
and I sent to you my servants the prophets, sending them early; (but ye hearkened not, and listened not with your ears;) saying, |
|
 25:4
And Yahwehº
hath sentºº
untoº
youº
allº
his servantsº
the prophets,º
rising earlyºº
and sendingºº
[them]; but ye have notº
hearkened,ºº
norº
inclinedººº
your earº
to hear.ºº |
 25:5
Turn ye every one from his evil way, and from your evil practices, and ye shall dwell in the land which I gave to you and your fathers, of old and for ever. |
|
 25:5
They said,ºº
Turn ye againºº
nowº
every oneº
from his evilº
way,ºº
and from the evilºº
of your doings,º
and dwellºº
inº
the landº
thatº
Yahwehº
hath givenºº
unto you and to your fathersº
forº
everº
and ever:ºº |
 25:6
Go ye not after strange gods, to serve them, and to worship them, that ye provoke me not by the works of your hands, to do you hurt. |
|
 25:6
And goººº
notº
afterº
otherº
elohimº
to serveºº
them, and to worshipºº
them, and provoke me not to angerºººº
with the worksº
of your hands;º
and I will do you no hurt.ººº |
 25:7
But ye hearkened not to me. |
|
 25:7
Yet ye have notº
hearkenedºº
untoº
me, saithºº
Yahweh;º
thatº
ye might provoke me to angerºº
with the worksº
of your handsº
to your own hurt.º |
 25:8 ¶
Therefore thus saith the Lord; Since ye believed not my words, |
|
 25:8 ¶
Thereforeº
thusº
saithºº
Yahwehº
Sabaoth;º
Becauseºº
ye have notº
heardººº
my words,º |
 25:9
behold I [will] send and take a family from the north, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants of it, and against all the nations round about it, and I will make them utterly waste, and make them a desolation, and a hissing, and an everlasting reproach. |
|
 25:9
Behold,º
I will sendºº
and takeººº
allº
the familiesº
of the north,º
saithºº
Yahweh,º
and Nebuchadrezzarº
the kingº
of Babylon,º
my servant,º
and will bringºº
them againstº
thisº
land,º
and againstº
the inhabitantsºº
thereof, and againstº
allº
theseº
nationsº
round about,º
and will utterly destroyºº
them, and makeºº
them an astonishment,º
and an hissing,º
and perpetualº
desolations.º |
 25:10
And I will destroy from [among] them the voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the scent of ointment, and the light of a candle. |
|
 25:10
Moreover I will takeºº
fromº
them the voiceº
of mirth,º
and the voiceº
of gladness,º
the voiceº
of the bridegroom,º
and the voiceº
of the bride,º
the soundº
of the millstones,º
and the lightº
of the candle.º |
 25:11
And all the land shall be a desolation; and they shall serve among the Gentiles seventy years. |
|
 25:11
And thisº
wholeº
landº
shall beº
a desolation,º
[and] an astonishment;º
and theseº
nationsº
shall serveººº
the kingº
of Babylonº
seventyº
years.º |
 25:12 ¶
And when the seventy years are fulfilled, I will take vengeance on that nation, and will make them a perpetual desolation. |
|
 25:12 ¶
And it shall come to pass,º
when seventyº
yearsº
are accomplished,ºº
[that] I will punishººº
the kingº
of Babylon,º
and thatº
nation,º
saithºº
Yahweh,º
forº
their iniquity,º
and the landº
of the Chaldeans,º
and will makeºº
it perpetualº
desolations.º |
 25:13
And I will bring upon that land all my words which I have spoken against it, [even] all things that are written in this book. |
|
 25:13
And I will bringºº
uponº
thatº
landºº
allº
my wordsº
whichº
I have pronouncedºº
againstº
it, [even]º
allº
that is writtenºº
in thisº
book,º
whichº
Jeremiahº
hath prophesiedºº
againstº
allº
the nations.º |
 25:14
[Absent from Manuscript] |
|
 25:14
Forº
manyº
nationsº
and greatº
kingsº
shall serveºº
themselvesº
of them also:º
and I will recompenseºº
them according to their deeds,º
and according to the worksº
of their own hands.º |
 25:15 ¶
Thus said the Lord God of Israel; Take the cup of this unmixed wine from mine hand, and thou shalt cause all the nations to drink, to whom I send thee. |
|
 25:15 ¶
Forº
thusº
saithºº
Yahwehº
Elohimº
of Israelº
untoº
me; Takeººº
the wineº
cupº
of thisº
furyº
at my hand,ºº
and causeº
allº
the nations,º
to whomºº
Iº
sendºº
thee, to drinkºº
it. |
 25:16
And they shall drink, and vomit, and be mad, because of the sword which I send among them. |
|
 25:16
And they shall drink,ºº
and be moved,ºº
and be mad,ºº
becauseºº
of the swordº
thatº
I will sendºº
amongº
them. |
 25:17
So I took the cup out of the Lord's hand, and caused the nations to whom the Lord sent me to drink: |
|
 25:17
Then tookºº
Iº
the cupº
at Yahweh'sº
hand,ºº
and madeº
allº
the nationsº
to drink,ºº
untoº
whomº
Yahwehº
had sentºº
me: |
 25:18
Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah{gr.Juda}, and the kings of Judah{gr.Juda}, and his princes, to make them a desert place, a desolation, and a hissing; |
|
 25:18
[To wit],º
Jerusalem,º
and the citiesº
of Judah,º
and the kingsº
thereof, andº
the princesº
thereof, to makeºº
them a desolation,º
an astonishment,º
an hissing,º
and a curse;º
as [it is] thisº
day;º |
 25:19
and Pharaoh{gr.Pharao} king of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}, and his servants, and his nobles, and all his people; |
|
 25:19
º
Pharaohº
kingº
of Egypt,º
and his servants,º
and his princes,º
and allº
his people;º |
 25:20
and all the mingled [people], and all the kings of the Philistines, and Askelon{gr.Ascalon}, and Gaza, and Ekron{gr.Accaron}, and the remnant of Ashdod{gr.Azotus}, |
|
 25:20
And allº
the mingledº
people,º
andº
allº
the kingsº
of the landº
of Uz,º
and allº
the kingsº
of the landº
of the Philistines,º
and Ashkelon,º
and Azzah,º
and Ekron,º
and the remnantº
of Ashdod,º |
 25:21
and Edom{gr.Idumea}, and the land of Moab, and the children of Ammon, |
|
 25:21
º
Edom,º
and Moab,º
and the childrenº
of Ammon,º |
 25:22
and the kings of Tyre, and the kings of Zidon{gr.Sidon}, and the kings in the [country] beyond the sea, |
|
 25:22
And allº
the kingsº
of Tyrus,º
and allº
the kingsº
of Zidon,º
and the kingsº
of the islesº
whichº
[are] beyondº
the sea,º |
 25:23
and Dedan{gr.Daedan}, and Teman{gr.Thaeman}, and Ros, and every one that is shaved round about the face, |
|
 25:23
Dedan,º
and Tema,º
and Buz,º
and allº
[that are] in the utmostºº
corners,º |
 25:24
and all the mingled [people] lodging in the wilderness, |
|
 25:24
And allº
the kingsº
of Arabia,º
and allº
the kingsº
of the mingled peopleºº
that dwellºº
in the desert,º |
 25:25
and all the kings of Elam{gr.Aelam}, and all the kings of the Persians, |
|
 25:25
And allº
the kingsº
of Zimri,º
and allº
the kingsº
of Elam,º
and allº
the kingsº
of the Medes,º |
 25:26
and all the kings from the north, the far and the near, each one with his brother, and all the kingdom s which are on the face of the earth. |
|
 25:26
And allº
the kingsº
of the north,º
farº
and near,º
oneº
withº
another,º
and allº
the kingdomsº
of the world,º
whichº
[are] uponº
the faceº
of the earth:º
and the kingº
of Sheshachº
shall drinkºº
afterº
them. |
 25:27
And thou shalt say to them, Thus said the Lord Almighty; Drink ye, be ye drunken; and ye shall vomit, and shall fall, and shall in nowise rise, because of the sword which I send among you. |
|
 25:27
Therefore thou shalt sayºº
untoº
them, Thusº
saithºº
Yahwehº
Sabaoth,º
the Elohimº
of Israel;º
Drinkºº
ye, and be drunken,ºº
and spue,ºº
and fall,ºº
and riseºº
noº
more, becauseºº
of the swordº
whichº
Iº
will sendºº
amongº
you. |
 25:28
And it shall come to pass, when they refuse to take the cup out of thine hand, to drink it, that thou shalt say, Thus said the Lord; Ye shall surely drink. |
|
 25:28
And it shall be,º
ifº
they refuseºº
to takeºº
the cupº
at thine handºº
to drink,ºº
then shalt thou sayºº
untoº
them, Thusº
saithºº
Yahwehº
Sabaoth;º
Ye shall certainlyºº
drink.ºº |
 25:29
For I am beginning to afflict the city whereon my name is called, and ye shall by no means be held guiltless: for I am calling a sword upon all that dwell upon the earth. |
|
 25:29
For,º
lo,º
Iº
beginºº
to bring evilºº
on the cityº
whichº
is calledºº
byº
my name,º
and should yeº
be utterlyºº
unpunished?ºº
Ye shall notº
be unpunished:ºº
forº
Iº
will callºº
forº
a swordº
uponº
allº
the inhabitantsºº
of the earth,º
saithºº
Yahwehº
Sabaoth.º |
 25:30
And thou shalt prophesy against them these words, and shalt say, The Lord shall speak from on high, from his sanctuary he will utter his voice; he will pronounce a declaration on his place; and these shall answer like men gathering grapes: and destruction is coming on them that dwell on the earth, |
|
 25:30
Therefore prophesyºº
thouº
againstº
themº
allº
theseº
words,º
and sayºº
untoº
them, Yahwehº
shall roarºº
from on high,ºº
and utterºº
his voiceº
from his holyº
habitation;ºº
he shall mightilyºº
roarºº
uponº
his habitation;º
he shall giveºº
a shout,º
as they that treadºº
[the grapes], againstº
allº
the inhabitantsºº
of the earth.º |
 25:31
[even] upon [the extreme] part of the earth; for the Lord [has] a controversy with the nations, he is pleading with all flesh, and the ungodly are given to the sword, saith the Lord. |
|
 25:31
A noiseº
shall comeºº
[even] toº
the endsº
of the earth;º
forº
Yahwehº
hath a controversyº
with the nations,º
heº
will pleadºº
with allº
flesh;º
he will giveºº
them [that are] wickedº
to the sword,º
saithºº
Yahweh.º |
 25:32
Thus said the Lord; Behold, evils are proceeding from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind goes forth from the end of the earth. |
|
 25:32
Thusº
saithºº
Yahwehº
Sabaoth,º
Behold,º
evilº
shall go forthºº
from nationºº
toº
nation,º
and a greatº
whirlwindº
shall be raised upºº
from the coastsºº
of the earth.º |
 25:33
And the slain of the Lord shall be in the day of the Lord from [one] end of the earth even to the [other] end of the earth: they shall not be buried; they shall be as dung on the face of the earth. |
|
 25:33
And the slainº
of Yahwehº
shall beº
at thatº
dayº
from [one] endºº
of the earthº
even untoº
the [other] endº
of the earth:º
they shall notº
be lamented,ºº
neitherº
gathered,ºº
norº
buried;ºº
they shall beº
dungº
uponºº
the ground.º |
 25:34 ¶
Howl, ye shepherds, and cry; and lament, ye rams of the flock: for your days have been completed for slaughter, and ye shall fall as the choice rams. |
|
 25:34 ¶
Howl,ºº
ye shepherds,ºº
and cry;ºº
and wallowºº
yourselvesº
[in the ashes], ye principalº
of the flock:º
forº
the daysº
of your slaughterºº
and of your dispersionsº
are accomplished;ºº
and ye shall fallºº
like a pleasantº
vessel.º |
 25:35
And flight shall perish from the shepherds, and safety from the rams of the flock. |
|
 25:35
And the shepherdsºº
shall have no wayº
to flee,ºººº
nor the principalºº
of the flockº
to escape.º |
 25:36
A voice of the crying of the shepherds, and a moaning of the sheep and the rams: for the Lord has destroyed their pastures. |
|
 25:36
A voiceº
of the cryº
of the shepherds,ºº
and an howlingº
of the principalº
of the flock,º
[shall be heard]: forº
Yahwehº
hath spoiledººº
their pasture.º |
 25:37
And the peaceable abodes that remain shall be destroyed before the fierceness of my anger. |
|
 25:37
And the peaceableº
habitationsº
are cut downºº
becauseºº
of the fierceº
angerº
of Yahweh.º |
 25:38
He has forsaken his lair, as a lion: for their land is become desolate before the great sword. |
|
 25:38
He hath forsakenºº
his covert,º
as the lion:º
forº
their landº
isº
desolateº
becauseºº
of the fiercenessº
of the oppressor,ºº
and becauseºº
of his fierceº
anger.º |
