 7:1 ¶ The wordº thatº cameº toº Jeremiahº fromºº Yahweh,º saying,ºº

 7:2 ¶ Hear ye the word of the Lord, all Judah{gr.Judea}.

 7:2 Standºº in the gateº of Yahweh'sº house,º and proclaimºº thereºº thisº word,º and say,ºº Hearºº the wordº of Yahweh,º allº [ye of] Judah,º that enterº inºº at theseº gatesº to worshipºº Yahweh.º

 7:3 Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Correct your ways and your devices, and I will cause you to dwell in this place.

 7:3 Thusº saithºº Yahwehº Sabaoth,º the Elohimº of Israel,º Amendºº your waysº and your doings,º and I will cause you to dwellºº in thisº place.º

 7:4 Trust not in yourselves with lying words, for they shall not profit you at all, saying, It is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord.

 7:4 Trustºº ye notº inº lyingº words,º saying,ºº The templeº of Yahweh,º The templeº of Yahweh,º The templeº of Yahweh,º [are] these.º

 7:5 For if ye thoroughly correct your ways and your practices, and do indeed execute judgment between a man and his neighbour;

 7:5 Forº ifº ye throughlyºº amendººº your waysº and your doings;º ifº ye throughlyºº executeºº judgmentº betweenº a manº and his neighbour;º

 7:6 and oppress not the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, and go not after strange gods to your hurt:

 7:6 [If] ye oppressºº notº the stranger,º the fatherless,º and the widow,º and shedºº notº innocentº bloodº in thisº place,º neitherº walkººº afterº otherº elohimº to your hurt:º

 7:7 then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land which I gave to your fathers of old and for ever.

 7:7 Then will I cause you to dwellºº in thisº place,º in the landº thatº I gaveºº to your fathers,º forº everºº and ever.ºº

 7:8 ¶ But whereas ye have trusted in lying words, whereby ye shall not be profited;

 7:8 ¶ Behold,º yeº trustºº inº lyingº words,º that cannotº profit.ºº

 7:9 and ye murder, and commit adultery, and steal, and swear falsely, and burn incense to Baal, and are gone after strange gods whom ye know not,

 7:9 Will ye steal,ºº murder,ºº and commit adultery,ºº and swearºº falsely,º and burn incenseºº unto Baal,º and walkºº afterº otherº elohimº whomº ye knowºº not;º

 7:10 so that it is evil with you; yet have ye come, and stood before me in the house, whereon my name is called, and ye have said, We have refrained from doing all these abominations.

 7:10 And comeºº and standºº beforeº me in thisº house,º whichº is calledºº byº my name,º and say,ºº We are deliveredºº to doººººº allº theseº abominations?º

 7:11 Is my house, whereon my name is called, a den of robbers in your eyes? And, behold, I have seen [it], saith the Lord.

 7:11 Is thisº house,º whichº is calledºº byº my name,º becomeº a denº of robbersº in your eyes?º Behold,º evenº Iº have seenºº [it], saithºº Yahweh.º

 7:12 For go ye to my place with is in Shiloh{gr.Selo}, where I caused my name to dwell before, and see what I did to it because of the wickedness of my people Israel.

 7:12 Butº goººº ye nowº untoº my placeº whichº [was] in Shiloh,º whereº I setºº my nameº at the first,º and seeººº whatº I didºº to it forºº the wickednessº of my peopleº Israel.º

 7:13 And now, because ye have done all these deeds, and I spoke to you, but ye hearkened not to me; and I called you, but ye answered not;

 7:13 And now,º becauseº ye have doneººº allº theseº works,º saithºº Yahweh,º and I spakeºº untoº you, rising up earlyºº and speaking,ºº but ye heardºº not;º and I calledºº you, but ye answeredºº not;º

 7:14 therefore I also will do to the house whereon my name is called, wherein ye trust, and to the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I did to Shiloh{gr.Selo}.

 7:14 Therefore will I doºº unto [this] house,º whichº is calledºº byº my name,º whereinº yeº trust,ºº and unto the placeº whichº I gaveºº to you and to your fathers,º asº I have doneºº to Shiloh.º

 7:15 And I will cast you out of my sight, as I cast away your brethren, all the seed of Ephraim.

 7:15 And I will castº you outºº ofºº my sight,º asº I have cast outººº allº your brethren,ºº [even] the wholeº seedº of Ephraim.º

 7:16 Therefore pray not thou for this people, and intercede not for them to be pitied, yea, pray not, and approach me not for them: for I will not hearken [unto thee].

 7:16 Therefore prayºº notº thouº forº thisº people,º neitherº lift upºº cryº nor prayerº forº them,º neitherº make intercessionºº to me: forº I will notº hearºº thee.

 7:17 ¶ Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah{gr.Juda}, and in the streets of Jerusalem?

 7:17 ¶ Seestºº thou notº whatº theyº doºº in the citiesº of Judahº and in the streetsº of Jerusalem?º

 7:18 Their children gather wood, and their fathers kindle a fire, and their women knead dough, to make cakes to the host of heaven; and they have poured out drink-offerings to strange gods, that they might provoke me to anger.

 7:18 The childrenº gatherºº wood,º and the fathersº kindleººº the fire,º and the womenº kneadºº [their] dough,º to makeºº cakesº to the queenº of heaven,º and to pour outºº drink offeringsº unto otherº elohim,º thatº they may provoke me to anger.ºº

 7:19 Do they provoke me to anger? saith the Lord: do they not [provoke] themselves, that their faces may be ashamed?

 7:19 Do theyº provoke me to anger?ººº saithºº Yahweh:º [do they] notº [provoke] themselves toº the confusionº of their own faces?º

 7:20 Therefore thus saith the Lord; Behold, my anger and wrath shall be poured out upon this place, and upon the men, and upon the cattle, and upon every tree of their field, and upon the fruits of the land; and it shall burn, and not be quenched.

 7:20 Thereforeº thusº saithºº Adonaiº Yahweh;º Behold,º mine angerº and my furyº shall be poured outºº uponº thisº place,º uponº man,º and uponº beast,º and uponº the treesº of the field,º and uponº the fruitº of the ground;º and it shall burn,ºº and shall notº be quenched.ºº

 7:21 ¶ Thus saith the Lord, Gather your whole-burnt-offerings with your meat-offerings, and eat flesh.

 7:21 ¶ Thusº saithºº Yahwehº Sabaoth,º the Elohimº of Israel;º Putºº your burnt offeringsº untoº your sacrifices,º and eatºº flesh.º

 7:22 For I spoke not to your fathers, and commanded them not in the day wherein I brought them up out of the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}, concerning whole-burnt-offerings and sacrifice:

 7:22 Forº I spakeºº notº untoº your fathers,º norº commandedºº them in the dayº that I broughtº them outºº of the landºº of Egypt,º concerningºº burnt offeringsº or sacrifices:º

 7:23 but I commanded them this thing, saying, Hear ye my voice, and I will be to you a God, and ye shall be to me a people: and walk ye in all my ways which I shall command you, that it may be well with you.

 7:23 Butººº thisº thingº commandedºº I them, saying,ºº Obeyºº my voice,º and I will beº your Elohim,º and yeº shall beº my people:º and walkºº ye in allº the waysº thatº I have commandedºº you, thatº it may be wellºº unto you.

 7:24 But they hearkened not to me, and their ear gave no heed, but they walked in the imaginations of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward;

 7:24 But they hearkenedºº not,º norº inclinedººº their ear,º but walkedººº in the counselsº [and] in the imaginationº of their evilº heart,º and wentº backward,º and notº forward.º

 7:25 from the day that their fathers went forth out of the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}, even until this day. And I sent to you all my servants, the prophets, by day and early in the morning: yea, I sent [them],

 7:25 Sinceº the dayº thatº your fathersº came forthº outºº of the landºº of Egyptº untoº thisº dayº I have even sentºº untoº youº allº my servantsº the prophets,º dailyº rising up earlyºº and sendingºº [them]:

 7:26 but they hearkened not to me, and their ear gave no heed; and they made their neck harder than their fathers.

 7:26 Yet they hearkenedºº notº untoº me, norº inclinedººº their ear,º but hardenedººº their neck:º they did worseºº than their fathers.ºº

 7:27 Therefore thou shalt speak this word to them;

 7:27 Therefore thou shalt speakººº allº theseº wordsº untoº them; but they will notº hearkenºº toº thee: thou shalt also callºº untoº them; but they will notº answerºº thee.

 7:28 This is the nation which has not hearkened to the voice of the Lord, nor received correction: truth has failed from their mouth.

 7:28 But thou shalt sayºº untoº them, Thisº [is] a nationº thatº obeyethºº notº the voiceº of Yahwehº their Elohim,º norº receivethºº correction:º truthº is perished,ºº and is cut offºº from their mouth.ºº

 7:29 ¶ Cut off thine hair, and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on thy lips; for the Lord has reprobated and rejected the generation that does these things.

 7:29 ¶ Cut offºº thine hair,º [O Jerusalem], and cast [it] away,ºº and take upºº a lamentationº onº high places;º forº Yahwehº hath rejectedºº and forsakenººº the generationº of his wrath.º

 7:30 For the children of Judah{gr.Juda} have wrought evil before me, saith the Lord; they have set their abominations in the house on which my name is called, to defile it.

 7:30 Forº the childrenº of Judahº have doneºº evilº in my sight,º saithºº Yahweh:º they have setºº their abominationsº in the houseº whichº is calledºº byº my name,º to polluteºº it.

 7:31 And they have built the altar of Tapheth, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom{gr.Ennom}, to burn their sons and their daughters with fire; which I did not command them [to do], neither did I design it in my heart.

 7:31 And they have builtºº the high placesº of Tophet,º whichº [is] in the valleyº of the sonº of Hinnom,º to burnººº their sonsº and their daughtersº in the fire;º whichº I commandedºº [them] not,º neitherº cameºº it intoº my heart.º

 7:32 ¶ Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when they shall no more say, The altar of Tapheth, and the valley of the son of Hinnom{gr.Ennom}, but, The valley of the slain; and they shall bury in Tapheth, for want of room.

 7:32 ¶ Therefore,º behold,º the daysº come,ºº saithºº Yahweh,º that it shall noº moreº be calledºº Tophet,º nor the valleyº of the sonº of Hinnom,º butºº the valleyº of slaughter:º for they shall buryºº in Tophet,º till there be noºº place.º

 7:33 And the dead bodies of this people shall be for food to the birds of the sky, and to the wild beasts of the earth; and there shall be none to drive [them] away.

 7:33 And the carcasesº of thisº peopleº shall beº meatº for the fowlsº of the heaven,º and for the beastsº of the earth;º and noneº shall fray [them] away.ºº

 7:34 And I will destroy out of the cities of Judah{gr.Juda}, and the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of them that make merry, and the voice of them that rejoice, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride; for the whole land shall become a desolation.

 7:34 Then will I cause to ceaseºº from the citiesºº of Judah,º and from the streetsºº of Jerusalem,º the voiceº of mirth,º and the voiceº of gladness,º the voiceº of the bridegroom,º and the voiceº of the bride:º forº the landº shall beº desolate.º
