 22:1 ¶
Thus saith the Lord; Go thou, and go down to the house of the king of Judah{gr.Juda}, and thou shalt speak there this word, |
|
 22:1 ¶
Thusº
saithºº
Yahweh;º
Go downºº
to the houseº
of the kingº
of Judah,º
and speakºº
thereºº
thisº
word,º |
 22:2
and thou shalt say, Hear the word of the Lord, O king of Judah{gr.Juda}, that sittest on the throne of David, thou, and thy house, and thy people, and they that go in at these gates: |
|
 22:2
And say,ºº
Hearºº
the wordº
of Yahweh,º
O kingº
of Judah,º
that sittestºº
uponº
the throneº
of David,º
thou,º
and thy servants,º
and thy peopleº
that enterºº
in by theseº
gates:º |
 22:3
thus saith the Lord; Execute ye judgment and justice, and rescue the spoiled out of the hand of him that wrongs him: and oppress not the stranger, and orphan, and widow, and sin not, and shed no innocent blood in this place. |
|
 22:3
Thusº
saithºº
Yahweh;º
Executeºº
ye judgmentº
and righteousness,º
and deliverºº
the spoiledºº
out of the handºº
of the oppressor:º
and do noº
wrong,ºº
do noº
violenceºº
to the stranger,º
the fatherless,º
nor the widow,º
neitherº
shedºº
innocentº
bloodº
in thisº
place.º |
 22:4
For if ye will indeed perform this word, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house kings sitting upon the throne of David, and riding on chariots and horses, they, and their servants, and their people. |
|
 22:4
Forº
ifº
ye doººº
thisº
thingº
indeed,ºº
then shall there enter inºº
by the gatesº
of thisº
houseº
kingsº
sittingºº
uponº
the throneº
of David,º
ridingºº
in chariotsº
and on horses,º
he,º
and his servants,º
and his people.º |
 22:5
But if ye will not perform these words, by myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, that this house shall be [brought] to desolation. |
|
 22:5
But ifº
ye will notº
hearººº
theseº
words,º
I swearºº
by myself, saithºº
Yahweh,º
thatº
thisº
houseº
shall becomeº
a desolation.º |
 22:6
For thus saith the Lord concerning the house of the king of Judah{gr.Juda}; Thou art Gilead{gr.Galaad} to me, [and] the head of Lebanon{gr.Libanus}: [yet] surely I will make thee a desert, [even] cities that shall not be inhabited: |
|
 22:6
Forº
thusº
saithºº
Yahwehº
untoº
the king'sº
houseº
of Judah;º
Thouº
[art] Gileadº
unto me, [and] the headº
of Lebanon:º
[yet] surelyºº
I will makeºº
thee a wilderness,º
[and] citiesº
[which] are notº
inhabited.ºººº |
 22:7
and I will bring upon thee a destroying man, and his axe: and they shall cut down thy choice cedars, and cast [them] into the fire. |
|
 22:7
And I will prepareºº
destroyersºº
againstº
thee, every oneº
with his weapons:º
and they shall cut downºº
thy choiceº
cedars,º
and castºº
[them] intoº
the fire.º |
 22:8
And nations shall pass through this city, and each shall say to his neighbour, Why has the Lord done thus to this great city? |
|
 22:8
And manyº
nationsº
shall passºº
byº
thisº
city,º
and they shall sayºº
every manº
toº
his neighbour,º
Whereforeºº
hath Yahwehº
doneºº
thusº
unto thisº
greatº
city?º |
 22:9
And they shall say Because they forsook the covenant of the Lord their God, and worshipped strange gods, and served them. |
|
 22:9
Then they shall answer,ºº
Becauseºº
they have forsakenººº
the covenantº
of Yahwehº
their Elohim,º
and worshippedºº
otherº
elohim,º
and servedºº
them. |
 22:10 ¶
Weep not for the dead, nor lament for him: weep bitterly for him that goes away: for he shall return no more, nor see his native land. |
|
 22:10 ¶
Weepºº
ye notº
for the dead,ºº
neitherº
bemoanºº
him: [but] weepºº
soreºº
for him that goeth away:ºº
forº
he shall returnºº
noº
more,º
nor seeººº
his nativeº
country.º |
 22:11
For thus saith the Lord concerning Shallum{gr.Sellem} the son of Josiah{gr.Josias}, who reigns in the place of Josiah{gr.Josias} his father, who has gone forth out of this place; He shall not return thither any more: |
|
 22:11
Forº
thusº
saithºº
Yahwehº
touchingº
Shallumº
the sonº
of Josiahº
kingº
of Judah,º
which reignedºº
insteadº
of Josiahº
his father,º
whichº
went forthºº
out ofº
thisº
place;º
He shall notº
returnºº
thitherº
any more:º |
 22:12
but in that place whither I have carried him captive, there shall he die, and shall see this land no more. |
|
 22:12
Butº
he shall dieºº
in the placeº
whitherºº
they have led him captive,ººº
and shall seeºº
thisº
landº
noº
more.º |
 22:13 ¶
He that builds his house not with justice, and his upper chambers not with judgment, who works by means of his neighbour for nothing, and will by no means give him his reward. |
|
 22:13 ¶
Woeº
unto him that buildethºº
his houseº
byº
unrighteousness,ºº
and his chambersº
by wrong;ºº
[that] useth his neighbour'sº
serviceºº
without wages,º
and givethºº
him notº
for his work;º |
 22:14
Thou hast built for thyself a well-proportioned house, airy chambers, fitted with windows, and wainscoted with cedar, and painted with vermilion. |
|
 22:14
That saith,ºº
I will buildºº
me a wideº
houseº
and largeºº
chambers,º
and cutteth him outºº
windows;º
and [it is] cieledºº
with cedar,º
and paintedºº
with vermilion.º |
 22:15
Shalt thou reign, because thou art provoked with thy father Ahaz{gr.Achaz}? they shall not eat, and they shall not drink: it is better for thee to execute judgment and justice. |
|
 22:15
Shalt thou reign,ºº
becauseº
thouº
closestºº
[thyself] in cedar?º
did notº
thy fatherº
eatºº
and drink,ºº
and doºº
judgmentº
and justice,º
[and] thenº
[it was] wellº
with him? |
 22:16
They understood not, they judged not the cause of the afflicted, nor the cause of the poor: is not this thy not knowing me? saith the Lord. |
|
 22:16
He judgedºº
the causeº
of the poorº
and needy;º
thenº
[it was] wellº
[with him: was] notº
thisº
to knowº
me? saithºº
Yahweh.º |
 22:17
Behold, thine eyes are not good, nor thine heart, but [they go] after thy covetousness, and after the innocent blood to shed it, and after acts of injustice and slaughter, to commit them. |
|
 22:17
Butº
thine eyesº
and thine heartº
[are] notº
but forººº
thy covetousness,º
and forº
to shedºº
innocentº
blood,º
and forº
oppression,º
and forº
violence,º
to doºº
[it]. |
 22:18
Therefore thus saith the Lord concerning Jehoiakim{gr.Joakim} son of Josiah{gr.Josias}, king of Judah{gr.Juda}, even concerning this man; they shall not bewail him, [saying], Ah brother! neither shall they at all weep for him, [saying], Alas Lord. |
|
 22:18
Thereforeº
thusº
saithºº
Yahwehº
concerningº
Jehoiakimº
the sonº
of Josiahº
kingº
of Judah;º
They shall notº
lamentºº
for him, [saying], Ahº
my brother!º
or, Ahº
sister!º
they shall notº
lamentºº
for him, [saying], Ahº
adon!º
or, Ahº
his glory!º |
 22:19
He shall be buried with the burial of an ass; he shall be dragged roughly along and cast outside the gate of Jerusalem. |
|
 22:19
He shall be buriedºº
with the burialº
of an ass,º
drawnºº
and cast forthºº
beyondºº
the gatesº
of Jerusalem.º |
 22:20 ¶
Go up to Lebanon{gr.Libanus}, and cry; and utter thy voice to Bashan{gr.Basan}, and cry aloud to the extremity of the sea: for all thy lovers are destroyed. |
|
 22:20 ¶
Go upºº
to Lebanon,º
and cry;ºº
and lift upºº
thy voiceº
in Bashan,º
and cryºº
from the passages:ºº
forº
allº
thy loversºº
are destroyed.ºº |
 22:21
I spoke to thee on [occasion of] thy trespass, but thou saidst, I will not hearken. This [has been] thy way from thy youth, thou hast not hearkened to my voice. |
|
 22:21
I spakeºº
untoº
thee in thy prosperity;º
[but] thou saidst,ºº
I will notº
hear.ºº
Thisº
[hath been] thy mannerº
from thy youth,ºº
thatº
thou obeyedstºº
notº
my voice.º |
 22:22
The wind shall tend all thy shepherds, and thy lovers shall go into captivity; for then shalt thou be ashamed and disgraced because of all thy lovers. |
|
 22:22
The windº
shall eat upºº
allº
thy pastors,ºº
and thy loversºº
shall goººº
into captivity:º
surelyº
thenº
shalt thou be ashamedºº
and confoundedºº
for allºº
thy wickedness.º |
 22:23
O thou that dwellest in Lebanon{gr.Libanus}, making thy nest in the cedars, thou shalt groan heavily, when pangs as of a travailing woman are come upon thee. |
|
 22:23
O inhabitantºº
of Lebanon,º
that makest thy nestºº
in the cedars,º
howº
graciousºº
shalt thou be when pangsº
comeºº
upon thee, the painº
as of a woman in travail!ºº |
 22:24
[As] I live, saith the Lord, though Jeconiah{gr.Jechonias} son of Jehoiakim{gr.Joakim} king of Judah{gr.Juda} were indeed the seal upon my right hand, thence would I pluck thee; |
|
 22:24
[As] Iº
live,º
saithºº
Yahweh,º
thoughºº
Coniahº
the sonº
of Jehoiakimº
kingº
of Judahº
wereº
the signetº
uponº
my rightº
hand,º
yetº
would I pluckºº
thee thence;ºº |
 22:25
and I will deliver thee into the hands of them that seek thy life, before whom thou art afraid, into the hands of the Chaldeans. |
|
 22:25
And I will giveºº
thee into the handº
of them that seekºº
thy life,º
and into the handº
[of them] whoseº
faceºº
thouº
fearest,ºº
even into the handº
of Nebuchadrezzarº
kingº
of Babylon,º
and into the handº
of the Chaldeans.º |
 22:26
And I will cast forth thee, and thy mother that bore thee, into a land where thou wast not born; and there ye shall die. |
|
 22:26
And I will cast thee out,ººº
and thy motherº
thatº
bareºº
thee, intoº
anotherº
country,º
whereºº
ye were notº
born;ºº
and thereº
shall ye die.ºº |
 22:27
But they shall by no means return to the land which they long for in their souls. |
|
 22:27
But toº
the landº
whereuntoºº
theyº
desireººººº
to return,ºº
thitherº
shall they notº
return.ºº |
 22:28
Jeconiah{gr.Jechonias} is dishonoured as a good-for-nothing vessel; for he is thrown out and cast forth into a land which he knew not. |
|
 22:28
[Is] thisº
manº
Coniahº
a despisedºº
brokenºº
idol?º
[is he] a vesselº
wherein [is] noº
pleasure?º
whereforeº
are they cast out,ººº
heº
and his seed,º
and are castººº
intoº
a landº
whichº
they knowºº
not?º |
 22:29
Land, land, hear the word of the Lord. |
|
 22:29
O earth,º
earth,º
earth,º
hearºº
the wordº
of Yahweh.º |
 22:30
Write ye this man an outcast: for there shall none of his seed at all grow up to sit on the throne of David, [or as] a prince yet in Judah{gr.Juda}. |
|
 22:30
Thusº
saithºº
Yahweh,º
Writeºº
yeº
thisº
manº
childless,º
a manº
[that] shall notº
prosperºº
in his days:º
forº
noº
manº
of his seedºº
shall prosper,ºº
sittingºº
uponº
the throneº
of David,º
and rulingºº
any moreº
in Judah.º |
