 43:1 ¶ And it came to pass, when Jeremiah{gr.Jeremias} ceased speaking to the people all the words of the Lord, [for] which the Lord had sent him to them, [even] all these words,

 43:1 ¶ And it came to pass,º [that] when Jeremiahº had made an endºº of speakingºº untoº allº the peopleºº allº the wordsº of Yahwehº their Elohim,º for whichº Yahwehº their Elohimº had sentºº him toº them, [even]º allº theseº words,º

 43:2 that Azariah{gr.Azarias} son of Maaseiah{gr.Maasaeas} spoke, and Johanan{gr.Joanan}, the son of Caree, and all the men who had spoken to Jeremiah{gr.Jeremias}, saying, [It is] false: the Lord has not sent thee to us, saying, Enter not into Mizraim{gr.Egypt} to dwell there:

 43:2 Then spakeºº Azariahº the sonº of Hoshaiah,º and Johananº the sonº of Kareah,º and allº the proudº men,ºº sayingºº untoº Jeremiah,º Thouº speakestºº falsely:º Yahwehº our Elohimº hath notº sentºº thee to say,ºº Goºº notº into Egyptº to sojournºº there:º

 43:3 but Baruch the son of Neriah{gr.Nerias} sets thee against us, that thou mayest deliver us into the hands of the Chaldeans, to kill us, and that we should be carried away captives to Babylon.

 43:3 Butº Baruchº the sonº of Neriahº setteth thee onººº against us, forº toº deliverºº us into the handº of the Chaldeans,º that they might put us to death,ººº and carry us away captivesººº into Babylon.º

 43:4 So Johanan{gr.Joanan}, and all the leaders of the host, and all the people, refused to hearken to the voice of the Lord, to dwell in the land of Judah{gr.Juda}.

 43:4 So Johananº the sonº of Kareah,º and allº the captainsº of the forces,º and allº the people,º obeyedºº notº the voiceº of Yahweh,º to dwellºº in the landº of Judah.º

 43:5 And Johanan{gr.Joanan}, and all the leaders of the host, took all the remnant of Judah{gr.Juda}, who had returned to dwell in the land;

 43:5 But Johananº the sonº of Kareah,º and allº the captainsº of the forces,º tookººº allº the remnantº of Judah,º thatº were returnedºº from allºº nations,º whitherºº they had been driven,ºº to dwellºº in the landº of Judah;º

 43:6 the mighty men, and the women, and the children that were left, and the daughters of the king, and the souls which Nebuzaradan{gr.Nabuzardan} and left with Gedaliah{gr.Godolias} the son of Ahikam{gr.Achicam} and Jeremiah{gr.Jeremias} the prophet, and Baruch the son of Neriah{gr.Nerias}.

 43:6 [Even]º men,º and women,º and children,º and the king'sº daughters,º and everyº personº thatº Nebuzaradanº the captainº of the guardº had leftººº withº Gedaliahº the sonº of Ahikamº the sonº of Shaphan,º and Jeremiahº the prophet,º and Baruchº the sonº of Neriah.º

 43:7 And they came into Mizraim{gr.Egypt}: for they hearkened not to the voice of the Lord: and they entered into Tahpanhes{gr.Taphnas}.

 43:7 So they cameºº intoº the landº of Egypt:º forº they obeyedºº notº the voiceº of Yahweh:º thus cameºº they [even] toº Tahpanhes.º

 43:8 ¶ And the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah{gr.Jeremias} in Tahpanhes{gr.Taphnas}, saying,

 43:8 ¶ Then cameº the wordº of Yahwehº untoº Jeremiahº in Tahpanhes,º saying,ºº

 43:9 Take thee great stones, and hide them in the entrance, at the gate of the house of Pharaoh{gr.Pharao} in Tahpanhes{gr.Taphnas}, in the sight of the men of Judah{gr.Juda}:

 43:9 Takeºº greatº stonesº in thine hand,º and hideºº them in the clayº in the brickkiln,º whichº [is] at the entryº of Pharaoh'sº houseº in Tahpanhes,º in the sightº of the menºº of Judah;º

 43:10 and thou shalt say, Thus has the Lord said; Behold, I [will] send, and will bring Nebuchadnezzar{gr.Nabuchodonosor} king of Babylon, and he shall place his throne upon these stones which thou hast hidden, and he shall lift up weapons against them.

 43:10 And sayºº untoº them, Thusº saithºº Yahwehº Sabaoth,º the Elohimº of Israel;º Behold,º I will sendºº and takeººº Nebuchadrezzarº the kingº of Babylon,º my servant,º and will setºº his throneº uponºº theseº stonesº thatº I have hid;ºº and he shall spreadººº his royal pavilionº overº them.

 43:11 And he shall enter in, and smite the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}, [delivering] some for death to death; and some for captivity to captivity; and some for the sword to the sword.

 43:11 And when he cometh,ºº he shall smiteººº the landº of Egypt,º [and deliver] suchº [as are] for deathº to death;º and suchº [as are] for captivityº to captivity;º and suchº [as are] for the swordº to the sword.º

 43:12 And he shall kindle a fire in the houses of their gods, and shall burn them, and shall carry them away captives: and shall search the land of Mizraim{gr.Egypt}, as a shepherd searches his garment; and he shall go forth in peace.

 43:12 And I will kindleºº a fireº in the housesº of the elohimº of Egypt;º and he shall burnºº them, and carry them away captives:ºº and he shall arrayºº himselfº withº the landº of Egypt,º asº a shepherdºº putteth onººº his garment;º and he shall go forthºº from thenceºº in peace.º

 43:13 And he shall break to pieces the pillars of Heliopolis that are in On, and shall burn their houses with fire.

 43:13 He shall breakºº alsoº the imagesº of Bethshemesh,º thatº [is] in the landº of Egypt;º and the housesº of the elohimº of the Egyptiansº shall he burnºº with fire.º
