 45:1 ¶ THE WORD WHICH JEREMIAH{gr.JEREMIAS} THE PROPHET spoke to Baruch son of Neriah{gr.Nerias}, when he wrote these words in the book from the mouth of Jeremiah{gr.Jeremias}, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim{gr.Joakim} the son of Josiah{gr.Josias} king of Judah{gr.Juda}.

 45:1 ¶ The wordº thatº Jeremiahº the prophetº spakeºº untoº Baruchº the sonº of Neriah,º when he had writtenººº theseº wordsº inº a bookº at the mouthºº of Jeremiah,º in the fourthº yearº of Jehoiakimº the sonº of Josiahº kingº of Judah,º saying,ºº

 45:2 Thus has the Lord said to thee, O Baruch.

 45:2 Thusº saithºº Yahweh,º the Elohimº of Israel,º untoº thee, O Baruch;º

 45:3 Whereas thou hast said, Alas! alas! for the Lord has laid a grievous trouble upon me; I lay down in groaning, I found no rest;

 45:3 Thou didst say,ºº Woeº is me now!º forº Yahwehº hath addedºº griefº toº my sorrow;º I faintedºº in my sighing,º and I findºº noº rest.º

 45:4 ¶ say thou to him, Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I pull down those whom I have built up, and I pluck up those whom I have planted.

 45:4 ¶ Thusº shalt thou sayºº untoº him, Yahwehº saithºº thus;º Behold,º [that] whichº I have builtºº will Iº break down,ºº and that whichº I have plantedºº Iº will pluck up,ºº even thisº wholeº land.º

 45:5 And wilt thou seek great things for thyself? seek [them] not: for, behold, I bring evil upon all flesh, saith the Lord: but I will give [to thee] thy life for a spoil in every place whither thou shalt go.

 45:5 And seekestºº thouº great thingsº for thyself? seekºº [them] not:º for,º behold,º I will bringºº evilº uponº allº flesh,º saithºº Yahweh:º butº thy lifeº will I giveºº unto thee for a preyº inº allº placesº whitherºº thou goest.ººº
