 16:1 ¶
I will send as it were reptiles on the land: is [not] the mount of the daughter of Zion{gr.Sion} a desolate rock? |
|
 16:1 ¶
Sendºº
ye the lambº
to the rulerºº
of the landº
from Selaºº
to the wilderness,º
untoº
the mountº
of the daughterº
of Zion.º |
 16:2
For thou shalt be as a young bird taken away from a bird that has flown: [even] thou shalt be [so], daughter of Moab: and then do thou, O Arnon, |
|
 16:2
For it shall be,º
[that], as a wanderingºº
birdº
cast outºº
of the nest,º
[so] the daughtersº
of Moabº
shall beº
at the fordsº
of Arnon.º |
 16:3
take farther counsel, and continually make thou a shelter from grief: they flee in darkness at mid-day; they are amazed; be not thou led captive. |
|
 16:3
Takeºº
counsel,º
executeºº
judgment;º
makeºº
thy shadowº
as the nightº
in the midstº
of the noonday;º
hideºº
the outcasts;ºº
bewrayºº
notº
him that wandereth.ºº |
 16:4
The fugitives of Moab shall sojourn with thee; they shall be to you a shelter from the face of the pursuer: for thine alliance has been taken away, and the oppressing ruler has perished from off the earth. |
|
 16:4
Let mine outcastsºº
dwellºº
with thee, Moab;º
beºº
thou a covertº
to them from the faceºº
of the spoiler:ºº
forº
the extortionerºº
is at an end,ºº
the spoilerº
ceaseth,ºº
the oppressorsºº
are consumedºº
out ofº
the land.º |
 16:5
And a throne shall be established with mercy; and one shall sit upon it with truth in the tabernacle of David, judging, and earnestly seeking judgements, and hasting righteousness. |
|
 16:5
And in mercyº
shall the throneº
be established:ºº
and he shall sitºº
uponº
it in truthº
in the tabernacleº
of David,º
judging,ºº
and seekingºº
judgment,º
and hastingº
righteousness.º |
 16:6 ¶
We have heard of the pride of Moab; he is very proud. I have cut off his pride: thy prophecy shall not be thus, [no] not thus. |
|
 16:6 ¶
We have heardºº
of the prideº
of Moab;º
[he is] veryº
proud:º
[even] of his haughtiness,º
and his pride,º
and his wrath:º
[but] his liesº
[shall] notº
[be] so.º |
 16:7
Moab shall howl; for all shall howl in the land of Moab: but thou shalt care for them that dwell in Seth, and thou shalt not be ashamed. |
|
 16:7
Thereforeº
shall Moabº
howlºº
for Moab,º
every oneº
shall howl:ºº
for the foundationsº
of Kirharesethº
shall ye mourn;ºº
surelyº
[they are] stricken.º |
 16:8
The plains of Heshbon{gr.Esebon} shall mourn, the vine of Sebama: swallowing up the nations, trample ye her vines, even to Jazer: ye shall not come together; wander ye in the desert: they that were sent are deserted, for they have gone over to the sea. |
|
 16:8
Forº
the fieldsº
of Heshbonº
languish,ºº
[and] the vineº
of Sibmah:º
the lordsº
of the heathenº
have broken downºº
the principal plantsº
thereof, they are comeºº
[even] untoº
Jazer,º
they wanderedºº
[through] the wilderness:º
her branchesº
are stretched out,ºº
they are gone overºº
the sea.º |
 16:9 ¶
Therefore will I weep as with the weeping of Jazer for the vine of Sebama; Heshbon{gr.Esebon} and Eleale have cast down thy trees; for I will trample on thy harvest and on thy vintages, and all [thy plants] shall fall. |
|
 16:9 ¶
Thereforeºº
I will bewailºº
with the weepingº
of Jazerº
the vineº
of Sibmah:º
I will waterºº
thee with my tears,º
O Heshbon,º
and Elealeh:º
forº
the shoutingº
forº
thy summer fruitsº
and forº
thy harvestº
is fallen.ºº |
 16:10
And gladness and rejoicing shall be taken away from the vineyards; and they shall not at all tread wine into the vats; for [the vintage] has ceased. |
|
 16:10
And gladnessº
is taken away,ºº
and joyº
out ofº
the plentiful field;º
and in the vineyardsº
there shall be noº
singing,ºº
neitherº
shall there be shouting:ºº
the treadersºº
shall treadº
outºº
noº
wineº
in [their] presses;º
I have made [their vintage] shoutingº
to cease.ºº |
 16:11
Therefore my belly shall sound as a harp for Moab, and thou hast repaired my inward parts as a wall. |
|
 16:11
Whereforeºº
my bowelsº
shall soundºº
like an harpº
for Moab,º
and mine inward partsº
for Kirharesh.º |
 16:12 ¶
And it shall be to thy shame, (for Moab is wearied at the altars,) that he shall go in to the idols thereof to pray, but they shall not be at all able to deliver him. |
|
 16:12 ¶
And it shall come to pass,º
whenº
it is seenºº
thatº
Moabº
is wearyºº
onº
the high place,º
that he shall comeºº
toº
his sanctuaryº
to pray;ºº
but he shall notº
prevail.ºº |
 16:13
This is the word which the Lord spoke against Moab, when he spoke. |
|
 16:13
Thisº
[is] the wordº
thatº
Yahwehº
hath spokenºº
concerningº
Moabº
since that time.ºº |
 16:14
And now I say, in three years, of the years of an hireling, the glory of Moab shall be dishonoured [with] all his great wealth; and he shall be left few in number, and not honoured. |
|
 16:14
But nowº
Yahwehº
hath spoken,ºº
saying,ºº
Within threeº
years,º
as the yearsº
of an hireling,º
and the gloryº
of Moabº
shall be contemned,ºº
with allº
that greatº
multitude;º
and the remnantº
[shall be] veryº
smallºº
[and] feeble.ºº |
