 63:1 ¶
Who is this that is come from Edom, [with] red garments from Bezer{gr.Bosor}? thus fair in his apparel, with mighty strength? I speak of righteousness and saving judgment. |
|
 63:1 ¶
Whoº
[is] thisº
that comethºº
from Edom,ºº
with dyedºº
garmentsº
from Bozrah?ºº
thisº
[that is] gloriousºº
in his apparel,º
travellingºº
in the greatnessº
of his strength?º
Iº
that speakºº
in righteousness,º
mightyº
to save.ºº |
 63:2
Wherefore are thy garments red, and thy raiment as [if fresh] from a trodden winepress? |
|
 63:2
Whereforeº
[art thou] redº
in thine apparel,º
and thy garmentsº
like him that treadethºº
in the winefat?º |
 63:3
I am full of trodden [grape], and of the nations there is not a man with me; and I trampled them in my fury, and dashed them to pieces as earth, and brought down their blood to the earth. |
|
 63:3
I have troddenºº
the winepressº
alone;º
and of the peopleºº
[there was] noneºº
withº
me: for I will treadºº
them in mine anger,º
and trampleºº
them in my fury;º
and their bloodº
shall be sprinkledºº
uponº
my garments,º
and I will stainºº
allº
my raiment.º |
 63:4
For the day of recompence has come upon them, and the year of redemption is at hand. |
|
 63:4
Forº
the dayº
of vengeanceº
[is] in mine heart,º
and the yearº
of my redeemedºº
is come.ºº |
 63:5
And I looked, and there was no helper; and I observed, and none upheld: therefore my arm delivered them, and mine anger drew nigh. |
|
 63:5
And I looked,ºº
and [there was] noneº
to help;ºº
and I wonderedºº
that [there was] noneº
to uphold:ºº
therefore mine own armº
brought salvationºº
unto me; and my fury,º
itº
upheldºº
me. |
 63:6
And I trampled them in mine anger, and brought down their blood to the earth. |
|
 63:6
And I will tread downºº
the peopleº
in mine anger,º
and make them drunkºº
in my fury,º
and I will bring downºº
their strengthº
to the earth.º |
 63:7 ¶
I remembered the mercy of the Lord, the praises of the Lord in all things wherein he recompenses us. The Lord is a good judge to the house of Israel; he deals with us according to his mercy, and according to the abundance of his righteousness. |
|
 63:7 ¶
I will mentionºº
the lovingkindnessesº
of Yahweh,º
[and] the praisesº
of Yahweh,º
accordingº
to allº
thatº
Yahwehº
hath bestowedºº
on us, and the greatº
goodnessº
toward the houseº
of Israel,º
whichº
he hath bestowedºº
on them according to his mercies,º
and according to the multitudeº
of his lovingkindnesses.º |
 63:8
And he said, Is it not my people? the children surely will not be rebellious: and he became to them deliverance |
|
 63:8
For he said,ºº
Surelyº
theyº
[are] my people,º
childrenº
[that] will notº
lie:ºº
so he wasº
their Saviour.ºº |
 63:9
out of all their affliction: not an ambassador, nor a messenger, but himself saved them, because he loved them and spared them: he himself redeemed them, and took them up, and lifted them up all the days of old. |
|
 63:9
In allº
their afflictionº
he was afflicted,º
and the angelº
of his presenceº
savedºº
them: in his loveº
and in his pityº
heº
redeemedºº
them; and he bareºº
them, and carriedºº
them allº
the daysº
of old.º |
 63:10 ¶
But they disobeyed, and provoked his Holy Spirit: so he turned to be an enemy, he himself contended against them. |
|
 63:10 ¶
But theyº
rebelled,ºº
and vexedººº
his holyº
Spirit:º
therefore he was turnedºº
to be their enemy,ºº
[and] heº
foughtºº
against them. |
 63:11
Then he remembered the ancient days, [saying], Where is he that brought up from the sea the shepherd of the sheep? where is he that put his Holy Spirit in them? |
|
 63:11
Then he rememberedºº
the daysº
of old,º
Moses,º
[and] his people,º
[saying], Whereº
[is] he that brought them upºº
out of the seaºº
withº
the shepherdºº
of his flock?º
whereº
[is] he that putººº
his holyº
Spiritº
withinº
him? |
 63:12
who led Mosheh{gr.Moses} with his right hand, the arm of his glory? he forced the water [to separate] from before him, to make himself an everlasting name. |
|
 63:12
That ledººº
[them] by the right handº
of Mosesº
with his gloriousº
arm,º
dividingºº
the waterº
beforeºº
them, to makeºº
himself an everlastingº
name?º |
 63:13
He led them through the deep, as a horse through the wilderness, and they fainted not, |
|
 63:13
That ledººº
them through the deep,º
as an horseº
in the wilderness,º
[that] they should notº
stumble?ºº |
 63:14
and as cattle through a plain: the Spirit came down from the Lord, and guided them: thus thou leddest thy people, to make thyself a glorious name. |
|
 63:14
As a beastº
goeth downºº
into the valley,º
the Spiritº
of Yahwehº
caused him to rest:ºº
soº
didst thou leadºº
thy people,º
to makeºº
thyself a gloriousº
name.º |
 63:15 ¶
Turn from heaven, and look from thy holy habitation and [from] thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength? where is the abundance of thy mercy and of thy compassions, that thou hast withholden thyself from us? |
|
 63:15 ¶
Look downºº
from heaven,ºº
and beholdºº
from the habitationºº
of thy holinessº
and of thy glory:º
whereº
[is] thy zealº
and thy strength,º
the soundingº
of thy bowelsº
and of thy merciesº
towardº
me? are they restrained?ºº |
 63:16
For thou art our Father; for [though] Abraham knew us not, and Israel did not acknowledge us, yet do thou, O Lord, our Father, deliver us: thy name has been upon us from the beginning. |
|
 63:16
Doubtlessº
thouº
[art] our father,º
thoughº
Abrahamº
be ignorantººº
of us, and Israelº
acknowledgeºº
us not:º
thou,º
O Yahweh,º
[art] our father,º
our redeemer;ºº
thy nameº
[is] from everlasting.ºº |
 63:17 ¶
Why hast thou caused us to err, O Lord, from thy way? [and] has hardened our hearts, that we should not fear thee? Return for thy servants' sake, for the sake of the tribes of thine inheritance, |
|
 63:17 ¶
O Yahweh,º
whyº
hast thou made us to errºº
from thy ways,ºº
[and] hardenedºº
our heartº
from thy fear?ºº
Returnºº
for thy servants'º
sake,ºº
the tribesº
of thine inheritance.º |
 63:18
that we may inherit a small part of thy holy mountain. |
|
 63:18
The peopleº
of thy holinessº
have possessedºº
[it] but a little while:º
our adversariesº
have trodden downºº
thy sanctuary.º |
 63:19
We are become as at the beginning, when thou didst not rule over us, and thy name was not called upon us. |
|
 63:19
We areº
[thine]: thou neverººº
barest ruleºº
over them; they were notº
calledºº
byº
thy name.º |
