 46:1 ¶ Bel has fallen, Nabo is broken to pieces, their graven images are gone to the wild beasts and the cattle: ye take them packed up as a burden to the weary, exhausted, hungry, and [at the same time] helpless man;

 46:1 ¶ Belº boweth down,ºº Neboº stoopeth,ºº their idolsº wereº upon the beasts,º and upon the cattle:º your carriagesº [were] heavy loaden;ºº [they are] a burdenº to the wearyº [beast].

 46:2 who will not be able to save themselves from war, but they themselves are led [away] captive.

 46:2 They stoop,ºº they bow downºº together;º they couldºº notº deliverºº the burden,º but themselvesº are goneºº into captivity.º

 46:3 ¶ Hear me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of Israel, who are borne [by me] from the womb, and taught [by me] from infancy, [even] to old age:

 46:3 ¶ Hearkenºº untoº me, O houseº of Jacob,º and allº the remnantº of the houseº of Israel,º which are borneºº [by me] fromº the belly,º which are carriedºº fromº the womb:º

 46:4 I am [he]; and until ye shall have grown old, I am [he]: I bear you, I have made, and I will relieve, I will take up and save you.

 46:4 And [even] toº [your] old ageº Iº [am] he;º and [even] toº hoar hairsº will Iº carryºº [you]: Iº have made,ºº and Iº will bear;ºº even Iº will carry,ºº and will deliverºº [you].

 46:5 ¶ To whom have ye compared me? see, consider, ye that go astray.

 46:5 ¶ To whomº will ye likenºº me, and make [me] equal,ºº and compareºº me, that we may be like?ºº

 46:6 They that furnish gold out of a purse, and silver by weight, will weigh it in a scale, and they hire a goldsmith and make idols, and bow down, and worship them.

 46:6 They lavishºº goldº out of the bag,ºº and weighºº silverº in the balance,º [and] hireºº a goldsmith;ºº and he makethºº it an el:º they fall down,ºº yea,º they worship.ºº

 46:7 They bear it upon the shoulder, and go; and if they put it upon its place, it remains, it cannot move: and whosoever shall cry to it, it cannot hear; it cannot save him from trouble.

 46:7 They bearºº him uponº the shoulder,º they carryºº him, and setº him in his place,ººº and he standeth;ºº from his placeºº shall he notº remove:ºº yea,º [one] shall cryºº untoº him, yet can he notº answer,ºº norº saveºº him out of his trouble.ºº

 46:8 Remember ye these things, and groan: repent, ye that have gone astray, return in your heart;

 46:8 Rememberºº this,º and shew yourselves men:ºº bring [it] againºº toº mind,º O ye transgressors.ºº

 46:9 and remember the former things [that were] of old: for I am God, and there is none other beside me,

 46:9 Rememberºº the former thingsº of old:ºº forº Iº [am] El,º and [there is] noneº else;º [I am] Elohim,º and [there is] noneº likeº me,º

 46:10 telling beforehand the latter events before they come to pass, and they are accomplished together: and I said, all my counsel shall stand, and I will do all things that I have planned:

 46:10 Declaringºº the endº from the beginning,ºº and from ancient timesºº [the things] thatº are notº [yet] done,ºº saying,ºº My counselº shall stand,ºº and I will doºº allº my pleasure:º

 46:11 calling a bird from the east, and from a land afar off, for the things which I have planned: I have spoken, and brought [him]; I have created and made [him]; I have brought him, and prospered his way.

 46:11 Callingºº a ravenous birdº from the east,ºº the manº that executeth my counselº from a farº country:ºº yea,º I have spokenºº [it], I will alsoº bringºº it to pass;º I have purposedºº [it], I will alsoº doºº it.

 46:12 ¶ Hearken to me, ye senseless ones, that are far from righteousness:

 46:12 ¶ Hearkenºº untoº me, ye stouthearted,ºº that [are] farº fromº righteousness:ºº

 46:13 I have brought near my righteousness, and I will not be slow with the salvation that is from me: I have given salvation in Zion{gr.Sion} to Israel for glory.

 46:13 I bring nearºº my righteousness;º it shall notº be far off,ºº and my salvationº shall notº tarry:ºº and I will placeºº salvationº in Zionº for Israelº my glory.º
