 25:1 ¶
O Lord God, I will glorify thee, I will sing to thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things, [even] an ancient [and] faithful counsel. So be it. |
|
 25:1 ¶
O Yahweh,º
thouº
[art] my Elohim;º
I will exaltºº
thee, I will praiseºº
thy name;º
forº
thou hast doneºº
wonderfulº
[things; thy] counselsº
of oldºº
[are] faithfulnessº
[and] truth.º |
 25:2
For thou hast made cities a heap, [even] cities [made] strong that their foundations should not fall: the city of ungodly men shall not be built for ever. |
|
 25:2
Forº
thou hast madeºº
of a cityºº
an heap;º
[of] a defencedºº
cityº
a ruin:º
a palaceº
of strangersºº
to be no city;ºº
it shall neverºº
be built.ºº |
 25:3
Therefore shall the poor people bless thee, and cities of injured men shall bless thee. |
|
 25:3
Thereforeºº
shall the strongº
peopleº
glorifyºº
thee, the cityº
of the terribleº
nationsº
shall fearºº
thee. |
 25:4
For thou hast been a helper to every lowly city, and a shelter to them that were disheartened by reason of poverty: thou shalt deliver them from wicked men: [thou hast been] a shelter of them that thirst, and a refreshing air to injured men. |
|
 25:4
Forº
thou hast beenº
a strengthº
to the poor,º
a strengthº
to the needyº
in his distress,º
a refugeº
from the storm,ºº
a shadowº
from the heat,ºº
whenº
the blastº
of the terrible onesº
[is] as a stormº
[against] the wall.º |
 25:5
[We were] as faint-hearted men thirsting in Zion{gr.Sion}, by reason of ungodly men to whom thou didst deliver us. |
|
 25:5
Thou shalt bring downºº
the noiseº
of strangers,ºº
as the heatº
in a dry place;º
[even] the heatº
with the shadowº
of a cloud:º
the branchº
of the terrible onesº
shall be brought low.ºº |
 25:6 ¶
And the Lord of hosts shall make [a feast] for all the nations: on this mount they shall drink gladness, they shall drink wine: |
|
 25:6 ¶
And in thisº
mountainº
shall Yahwehº
Sabaothº
makeºº
unto allº
peopleº
a feastº
of fat things,º
a feastº
of wines on the lees,º
of fat thingsº
full of marrow,ºº
of wines on the leesº
well refined.ºº |
 25:7
they shall anoint themselves with ointment in this mountain. Impart thou all these things to the nations; for this is [God's] counsel upon all the nations. |
|
 25:7
And he will destroyºº
in thisº
mountainº
the faceº
of the coveringº
castº
overººº
allº
people,º
and the vailº
that is spreadºº
overº
allº
nations.º |
 25:8
Death has prevailed and swallowed [men] up; but again the Lord God has taken away every tear from every face. He has taken away the reproach of [his] people from all the earth: for the mouth off the Lord has spoken it. |
|
 25:8
He will swallow upºº
deathº
in victory;º
and Adonaiº
Yahwehº
will wipe awayºº
tearsº
from offºº
allº
faces;º
and the rebukeº
of his peopleº
shall he take awayºº
from offºº
allº
the earth:º
forº
Yahwehº
hath spokenºº
[it]. |
 25:9 ¶
And in that day they shall say, behold our God in whom we have trusted, and he shall save us: this [is] the Lord; we have waited for him, and we have exulted, and will rejoice in our salvation. |
|
 25:9 ¶
And it shall be saidºº
in thatº
day,º
Lo,º
thisº
[is] our Elohim;º
we have waitedºº
for him, and he will saveºº
us: thisº
[is] Yahweh;º
we have waitedºº
for him, we will be gladºº
and rejoiceºº
in his salvation.º |
 25:10
God will give rest on this mountain, and the country of Moab shall be trodden down, as they tread the floor with waggons. |
|
 25:10
Forº
in thisº
mountainº
shall the handº
of Yahwehº
rest,ºº
and Moabº
shall be trodden downºº
underº
him, even as strawº
is trodden downºº
for the dunghill.ºººº |
 25:11
And he shall spread forth his hands, even as he also brings down [man] to destroy [him]: and he shall bring low his pride [in regard to the thing] on which he has laid his hands. |
|
 25:11
And he shall spread forthºº
his handsº
in the midstº
of them, asº
he that swimmethºº
spreadeth forthºº
[his hands] to swim:ºº
and he shall bring downºº
their prideº
together withº
the spoilsº
of their hands.º |
 25:12
And he shall bring down the height of the refuge of the wall, and it shall come down even to the ground. |
|
 25:12
And the fortressº
of the high fortº
of thy wallsº
shall he bring down,ºº
lay low,ºº
[and] bringºº
to the ground,º
[even] toº
the dust.º |
