 2:1 ¶
The word which came to Isaiah{gr.Esaias} the son of Amos concerning Judah{gr.Judea}, and concerning Jerusalem. |
|
 2:1 ¶
The wordº
thatº
Isaiahº
the sonº
of Amozº
sawºº
concerningº
Judahº
and Jerusalem.º |
 2:2
For in the last days the mountain of the Lord shall be glorious, and the house of God [shall be] on the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall come to it. |
|
 2:2
And it shall come to passº
in the lastº
days,º
[that] the mountainº
of Yahweh'sº
houseº
shall beº
establishedºº
in the topº
of the mountains,º
and shall be exaltedºº
above the hills;ºº
and allº
nationsº
shall flowºº
untoº
it. |
 2:3
And many nations shall go and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will tell us his way, and we will walk in it: for out of Zion{gr.Sion} shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord out of Jerusalem. |
|
 2:3
And manyº
peopleº
shall goºº
and say,ºº
Comeººº
ye, and let us go upºº
toº
the mountainº
of Yahweh,º
toº
the houseº
of the Elohimº
of Jacob;º
and he will teachºº
us of his ways,ºº
and we will walkººº
in his paths:º
forº
out of Zionºº
shall go forthºº
the law,º
and the wordº
of Yahwehº
from Jerusalem.ºº |
 2:4
And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plow-shares, and their spears into sickles: and nation shall not take up sword against nation, neither shall they learn to war any more. |
|
 2:4
And he shall judgeºº
amongº
the nations,º
and shall rebukeºº
manyº
people:º
and they shall beatºº
their swordsº
into plowshares,º
and their spearsº
into pruninghooks:º
nationº
shall notº
lift upºº
swordº
againstº
nation,º
neitherº
shall they learnºº
warº
any more.º |
 2:5
And now, O house of Jacob, come, [and] let us walk in the light of the Lord. |
|
 2:5
O houseº
of Jacob,º
comeººº
ye, and let us walkººº
in the lightº
of Yahweh.º |
 2:6 ¶
For he has forsaken his people the house of Israel, because their land is filled as at the beginning with divinations, as the [land] of the Philistines, and many strange children were born to them. |
|
 2:6 ¶
Thereforeº
thou hast forsakenºº
thy peopleº
the houseº
of Jacob,º
becauseº
they be replenishedºº
from the east,ºº
and [are] soothsayersºº
like the Philistines,º
and they pleaseºº
themselvesº
in the childrenº
of strangers.º |
 2:7
For their land is filled with silver and gold, and there was no number of their treasures; their land also is filled with horses, and there was no number of chariots. |
|
 2:7
Their landº
also is fullºº
of silverº
and gold,º
neitherº
[is there any] endº
of their treasures;º
their landº
is also fullºº
of horses,º
neitherº
[is there any] endº
of their chariots:º |
 2:8
And the land is filled with abominations, [even] the works of their hands; and they have worshipped [the works] which their fingers made. |
|
 2:8
Their landº
also is fullºº
of idols;º
they worshipºº
the workº
of their own hands,º
that whichº
their own fingersº
have made:ºº |
 2:9
And the mean man bowed down, and the great man was humbled: and I will not pardon them. |
|
 2:9
And the mean manº
boweth down,ºº
and the great manº
humblethºº
himself: therefore forgiveºº
them not.º |
 2:10 ¶
Now therefore enter ye into the rocks, and hide yourselves in the earth, for fear of the Lord, and by reason of the glory of his might, when he shall arise to strike terribly the earth. |
|
 2:10 ¶
Enterºº
into the rock,º
and hideºº
thee in the dust,º
forºº
fearº
of Yahweh,º
and for the gloryºº
of his majesty.º |
 2:11
For the eyes of the Lord are high, but man is low; and the haughtiness of men shall be brought low, and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day. |
|
 2:11
The loftyº
looksº
of manº
shall be humbled,ºº
and the haughtinessº
of menºº
shall be bowed down,ºº
and Yahwehº
aloneº
shall be exaltedºº
in thatº
day.º |
 2:12
For the day of the Lord of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and haughty, and upon every one that is high and towering, and they shall be brought down; |
|
 2:12
Forº
the dayº
of Yahwehº
Sabaothº
[shall be] uponº
everyº
[one that is] proudº
and lofty,ºº
and uponº
everyº
[one that is] lifted up;ºº
and he shall be brought low:ºº |
 2:13
and upon every cedar of Lebanon{gr.Libanus}, of them that are high and towering, and upon every oak of Bashan{gr.Basan}, |
|
 2:13
And uponº
allº
the cedarsº
of Lebanon,º
[that are] highºº
and lifted up,ºº
and uponº
allº
the oaksº
of Bashan,º |
 2:14
and upon every high mountain, and upon every high hill, |
|
 2:14
And uponº
allº
the highºº
mountains,º
and uponº
allº
the hillsº
[that are] lifted up,ºº |
 2:15
and upon every high tower, and upon every high wall, |
|
 2:15
And uponº
everyº
highº
tower,º
and uponº
everyº
fencedºº
wall,º |
 2:16
and upon every ship of the sea, and upon every display of fine ships. |
|
 2:16
And uponº
allº
the shipsº
of Tarshish,º
and uponº
allº
pleasantº
pictures.º |
 2:17
And every man shall be brought low, and the pride of men shall fall: and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day. |
|
 2:17
And the loftinessº
of manº
shall be bowed down,ºº
and the haughtinessº
of menºº
shall be made low:ºº
and Yahwehº
aloneº
shall be exaltedºº
in thatº
day.º |
 2:18
And they shall hide all [idols] made with hands, |
|
 2:18
And the idolsº
he shall utterlyº
abolish.ºº |
 2:19
having carried [them] into the caves, and into the clefts of the rocks, and into the caverns of the earth, for fear of the Lord, and by reason of the glory of his might, when he shall arise to strike terribly the earth. |
|
 2:19
And they shall goºº
into the holesº
of the rocks,º
and into the cavesº
of the earth,º
forºº
fearº
of Yahweh,º
and for the gloryºº
of his majesty,º
when he arisethºº
to shake terriblyºº
the earth.º |
 2:20
For in that day a man shall cast forth his silver and gold abominations, which they made [in order] to worship vanities and bats; |
|
 2:20
In thatº
dayº
a manº
shall castººº
his idolsº
of silver,º
and his idolsº
of gold,º
whichº
they madeº
[each one] for himselfºº
to worship,ºº
to the molesºº
and to the bats;º |
 2:21
to enter into the caverns of the solid rock, and into the clefts of the rocks, for fear of the Lord, and by reason of the glory of his might, when he shall arise to strike terribly the earth. |
|
 2:21
To goºº
into the cleftsº
of the rocks,º
and into the topsº
of the ragged rocks,º
forºº
fearº
of Yahweh,º
and for the gloryºº
of his majesty,º
when he arisethºº
to shake terriblyºº
the earth.º |
