And Yosef fell upon his father's face, and wept upon him, and kissed him. |

And Yosef commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father: and the physicians embalmed Yisrael. |

And fortyº
daysº
were fulfilledºº
for him; forº
soº
are fulfilledºº
the daysº
of those which are embalmed:ºº
and the
Mixrîm
מִצרִיםº
mournedºº
for him threescore and tenº
days.º |

And forty days were fulfilled for him; for so are fulfilled the days of those which are embalmed: and the Mitzrim mourned for him threescore and ten days. |

of his mourningº

I have foundºº
graceº
in your eyes,º

And when the days of his mourning were past, Yosef spake unto the house of Paroh, saying, If now I have found grace in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Paroh, saying, |

Lo,º
Iº
die:ºº
in my graveº
whichº
I have diggedºº
for me in the landº
of
Cænä`an
כְּנָעַן,º
thereº
shalt thou buryº
me.ºº
Nowº
therefore let me go up,ºº
I pray thee,º
and buryººº
my father,º
and I will come again.ºº |

My father made me swear, saying, Lo, I die: in my grave which I have digged for me in the land of Kenaan, there shalt thou bury me. Now therefore let me go up, I pray thee, and bury my father, and I will come again. |

And Yosef went up to bury his father: and with him went up all the servants of Paroh, the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Mitzrayim, |

onlyº
their little ones,º
and their flocks,º
and their herds,º
they leftºº
in the landº

And all the house of Yosef, and his brethren, and his father's house: only their little ones, and their flocks, and their herds, they left in the land of Goshen. |

And there went upºº
withº
him bothº
chariotsº
andº
horsemen:º
and it wasº
a veryº
greatº
company.º |

And there went up with him both chariots and horsemen: and it was a very great company. |
|

And they cameºº
toº
the threshingfloorº
of
´Ä+äð
אָטָד,º
whichº
[is] beyondº
Yardën
יַרדֵּן,º
and thereº
they mournedºº
with a greatº
and veryº
soreº
lamentation:º
and he madeºº
a mourningº
for his fatherº
sevenº
days.º |

And they came to the threshingfloor of Atad, which [is] beyond Yarden, and there they mourned with a great and very sore lamentation: and he made a mourning for his father seven days. |

And when the inhabitantsºº
of the land,º
the
Cæna`ánîm
כְּנַעֲנִים,º
sawººº
the mourningº
in the floorº
of
´Ä+äð
אָטָד,º
they said,ºº
Thisº
[is] a grievousº
mourningº
to the
Mixrîm
מִצרִים:º
whereforeºº
the nameº
of itº
was calledºº
´Ävël Mixrayim
אָבֵל־מִצרַיִם,º
whichº
[is] beyondº
Yardën
יַרדֵּן.º |

And when the inhabitants of the land, the Kenaanim, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, This [is] a grievous mourning to the Mitzrim: wherefore the name of it was called Avel-Mitzrayim, which [is] beyond Yarden. |

For his sons carried him into the land of Kenaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Makhpelah, which Avraham bought with the field for a possession of a buryingplace of Efron the Chitti, before Mamre. |

And Yosef returned into Mitzrayim, he, and his brethren, and all that went up with him to bury his father, after he had buried his father. |

will peradventureº
hateº

And when Yosef's brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, Yosef will peradventure hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him. |

And they sent a messengerºº

he died,º

And they sent a messenger unto Yosef, saying, Thy father did command before he died, saying, |

Forgive,ºº
I pray theeº

the trespassº
of thy brethren,º
and their sin;º

they didºº
unto thee evil:º
and now,º
we pray thee,º

of the servantsº

´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº
of thy father.º

when they spakeºº

So shall ye say unto Yosef, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the Elohim of thy father. And Yosef wept when they spake unto him. |

Behold,º
we [be] thy servants.º |

And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we [be] thy servants. |

And Yosef said unto them, Fear not: for [am] I in the place of Elohim? |

againstº
me; [but]
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº
meantº
itºº
unto good,º
toº
bring to pass,ºº
as [it is] thisº
day,º
to saveºº
muchº
peopleº
alive.ºººº |

But as for you, ye thought evil against me; [but] Elohim meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as [it is] this day, to save much people alive. |

50:21
Nowº
therefore fearºº
ye not:º
Iº
will nourishºº
you, and your little ones.º
And he comfortedºº
them, and spakeºº
kindlyºº
unto them. |

50:21
Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them. |

50:22 ¶

And Yosef saw Efrayim's children of the third [generation]: the children also of Makhir the son of Menashsheh were brought up upon Yosef's knees. |

And Yosef said unto his brethren, I die: and Elohim will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he sware to Avraham, to Yitzchaq, and to Yaaqov. |

the childrenº

saying,ºº
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº

you, and ye shall carry upººº
my bonesº

And Yosef took an oath of the children of Yisrael, saying, Elohim will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence. |

So

died,ºº
[being] an hundredº
and tenº
yearsº
old:º
and they embalmedºº
him, and he was putºº
in a coffinº
in
Mixrayim
מִצרַיִם.º |

So Yosef died, [being] an hundred and ten years old: and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Mitzrayim. |
