 124:1 ¶ [[A Song of Degrees:]] If it had not been that the Lord was among us, let Israel now say;

 124:1 ¶ [[A Songº of degreesº of David.]]º Ifº [it had not been] Yahwehº who wasºº on our side, nowº may Israelº say;ºº

 124:2 if it had not been that the Lord was among us, when men rose up against us;

 124:2 Ifº [it had not been] Yahwehº who wasºº on our side, when menº rose upºº againstº us:

 124:3 verily they would have swallowed us up alive, when their wrath was kindled against us:

 124:3 Thenº they had swallowed us upºº quick,º when their wrathº was kindledºº against us:

 124:4 verily the water would have drowned us, our soul would have gone under the torrent.

 124:4 Thenº the watersº had overwhelmedºº us, the streamº had goneº overººº our soul:º

 124:5 Yea, our soul would have gone under the overwhelming water.

 124:5 Thenº the proudº watersº had goneº overººº our soul.º

 124:6 Blessed be the Lord, who has not given us for a prey to their teeth.

 124:6 Blessedºº [be] Yahweh,º who hath notºº givenºº us [as] a preyº to their teeth.º

 124:7 Our soul has been delivered as a sparrow from the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are delivered.

 124:7 Our soulº is escapedºº as a birdº out of the snareºº of the fowlers:ºº the snareº is broken,ºº and weº are escaped.ºº

 124:8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

 124:8 Our helpº [is] in the nameº of Yahweh,º who madeºº heavenº and earth.º
