to whom vengeanceº

Be thou exalted, thou that judgest the earth: render a reward to the proud. |

Lift upºº
thyself,º
thou judgeºº
of the earth:º
renderºº
a rewardº
toº
the proud.º |

How long shall sinners, O Lord, how long shall sinners boast? |
|

Yahweh,º
how longºº
shall the wicked,º
how longºº
shall the wickedº
triumph?ºº |
|
94:4
They will utter and speak unrighteousness; all the workers of iniquity will speak [so]. |
|
94:4
[How long] shall they utterºº
[and] speakºº
hard things?º
[and] allº
the workersºº
of iniquityº
boastºº
themselves?º |

94:5
They have afflicted thy people, O Lord, and hurt thine heritage. |

They break in piecesºº
thy people,º
O Yahweh,º
and afflictºº
thine heritage.º |
|
94:6
They have slain the widow and fatherless, and murdered the stranger. |
|

They slayºº
the widowº
and the stranger,º
and murderºº
the fatherless.º |

And they said, The Lord shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob understand. |

Yet they say,ºº
Yahº
shall notº
see,ºº
neitherº
shall the Elohimº
of Jacobº
regardºº
[it]. |

Understand now, ye simple among the people; and ye fools, at length be wise. |

ye brutishºº
among the people:º
and [ye] fools,º
whenº
will ye be wise?ºº |

He that planted the ear, does he not hear? or he that formed the eye, does not he perceive? |

He that plantedºº
the ear,º
shall he notº
hear?ºº
he that formedºº
the eye,º
shall he notº
see?ºº |

He that chastises the heathen, shall not he punish, [even] he that teaches man knowledge? |

He that chastisethºº
the heathen,º
shall notº
he correct?ºº
he that teachethºº
manº
knowledge,º
[shall not he know]? |

The Lord knows the thoughts of men, that they are vain. |

[are] vanity.º |

Blessed is the man whomsoever thou shalt chasten, O Lord, and shalt teach him out of thy law; |

[is] the manº

thou chastenest,ºº
O Yah,º
and teachestºº
him out of thy law;ºº |

to give him rest from evil days, until a pit be digged for the sinful one. |

That thou mayest give him restºº
from the daysºº
of adversity,º
untilº
the pitº
be diggedºº
for the wicked.º |

For the Lord will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance; |

his people,º
neitherº
will he forsakeºº
his inheritance.º |

until righteousness return to judgment, and all the upright in heart shall follow it. Pause. |

judgmentº
shall returnºº

righteousness:º
and allº
the uprightº
in heartº
shall followº
it. |

Who will rise up for me against the transgressors? or who will stand up with me against the workers of iniquity? |

for me againstº
the evildoers?ºº
[or] whoº
will stand upºº
for me againstº
the workersºº
of iniquity?º |

If the Lord had not helped me, my soul had almost sojourned in the grave{gr.Hades}. |

Unlessº
Yahwehº
[had been] my help,º
my soulº
had almostº
dweltºº
in silence.º |

If I said, My foot has been moved; |
|

Whenº
I said,ºº
My footº
slippeth;ºº
thy mercy,º
O Yahweh,º
held me up.ºº |

thy mercy, O Lord, helped me. O Lord, according to the multitude of my griefs within my heart, thy consolation have soothed my soul. |

In the multitudeº
of my thoughtsº
withinº
me thy comfortsº
delightºº
my soul.º |

94:20
Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frames mischief by an ordinance? |

Shall the throneº
of iniquityº
have fellowshipºº
with thee, which framethºº
mischiefº
byº
a law?º |
|
94:21
They will hunt for the soul of the righteous, and condemn innocent blood. |
|

They gather themselves togetherºº
againstº
the soulº
of the righteous,º
and condemnºº
the innocentº
blood.º |
|
94:22
But the Lord was my refuge; and my God the helper of my hope. |
|
94:22
But Yahwehº
isº
my defence;º
and my Elohimº
[is] the rockº
of my refuge.º |
|
94:23
And he will recompense to them their iniquity and their wickedness: the Lord our God shall utterly destroy them. |
|
94:23
And he shall bringºº
uponº
themº
their own iniquity,º
and shall cut them offºº
in their own wickedness;º
[yea], Yahwehº
our Elohimº
shall cut them off.ºº |
