 83:1 ¶
[[A Song of a Psalm for Asaph.]] O God, who shall be compared to thee? be not silent, neither be still, O God. |
|
 83:1 ¶
[[A Songº
[or] Psalmº
of Asaph.]]º
Keep not thou silence,ºº
O Elohim:º
hold not thy peace,ººº
and be notº
still,ºº
O El.º |
 83:2
For behold, thine enemies have made a noise; and they that hate thee have lifted up the head. |
|
 83:2
For,º
lo,º
thine enemiesºº
make a tumult:ºº
and they that hateºº
thee have lifted upºº
the head.º |
 83:3
Against thy people they have craftily imagined a device, and have taken counsel against thy saints. |
|
 83:3
They have taken craftyºº
counselº
againstº
thy people,º
and consultedºº
againstº
thy hidden ones.ºº |
 83:4
They have said, Come, and let us utterly destroy them out of the nation; and let the name of Israel be remembered no more at all. |
|
 83:4
They have said,ºº
Come,ººº
and let us cut them offºº
from [being] a nation;ºº
that the nameº
of Israelº
may be noº
moreº
in remembrance.ºº |
 83:5
For they have taken counsel together with one consent: they have made a confederacy against thee; |
|
 83:5
Forº
they have consultedºº
togetherºº
with one consent:ºº
they areºº
confederateºº
againstº
thee: |
 83:6
even the tents of the Edomites{gr.Idumeans}, and the Ishmaelites{gr.Ismaelites}; Moab, and the Agarenes; |
|
 83:6
The tabernaclesº
of Edom,º
and the Ishmaelites;º
of Moab,º
and the Hagarenes;º |
 83:7
Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek{gr.Amalec}; the Philistines also, with them that dwell at Tyre. |
|
 83:7
Gebal,º
and Ammon,º
and Amalek;º
the Philistinesº
withº
the inhabitantsºº
of Tyre;º |
 83:8
Yea, Asshur{gr.Assur} too is come with them: they have become a help to the children of Lot. Pause. |
|
 83:8
Assurº
alsoº
is joinedºº
withº
them: they haveº
holpenº
the childrenº
of Lot.º
Selah.º |
 83:9
Do thou to them as to Midian{gr.Madiam}, and to Sisera; as to Jabin at the brook of Kishon{gr.Kison}. |
|
 83:9
Doºº
unto them as [unto] the Midianites;º
as [to] Sisera,º
as [to] Jabin,º
at the brookº
of Kison:º |
 83:10
They were utterly destroyed at Aendor: they became as dung for the earth. |
|
 83:10
[Which] perishedºº
at Endor:º
they becameº
[as] dungº
for the earth.º |
 83:11
Make their princes as Oreb and Zeeb{gr.Zeb}, and Zebah{gr.Zebee} and Zalmunna{gr.Salmana}; [even] all their princes: |
|
 83:11
Makeºº
their noblesº
like Oreb,º
and like Zeeb:º
yea, allº
their princesº
as Zebah,º
and as Zalmunna:º |
 83:12
who said, let us take to ourselves the altar of God as an inheritance. |
|
 83:12
Whoº
said,ºº
Let us takeº
to ourselvesº
the housesº
of Elohimº
in possession.ºº |
 83:13
O my God, make them as a wheel; as stubble before the face of the wind. |
|
 83:13
O my Elohim,º
makeºº
them like a wheel;º
as the stubbleº
beforeº
the wind.º |
 83:14
As fire which shall burn up a wood, as the flame may consume the mountains; |
|
 83:14
As the fireº
burnethºº
a wood,º
and as the flameº
settethºº
the mountainsº
on fire;ººº |
 83:15
so shalt thou persecute them with thy tempest, and trouble them in thine anger. |
|
 83:15
Soº
persecuteºº
them with thy tempest,º
and make them afraidºº
with thy storm.º |
 83:16
Fill their faces with dishonour; so shall they seek thy name, O Lord. |
|
 83:16
Fillºº
their facesº
with shame;º
that they may seekºº
thy name,º
O Yahweh.º |
 83:17
Let them be ashamed and troubled for evermore; yea, let them be confounded and destroyed. |
|
 83:17
Let them be confoundedºº
and troubledºº
for ever;ºº
yea, let them be put to shame,ºº
and perish:ºº |
 83:18
And let them know that thy name is Lord; that thou alone art Most High over all the earth. |
|
 83:18
That [men] may knowºº
thatº
thou,º
whose nameº
aloneº
[is] YAHWEH,º
[art] Elyonº
overº
allº
the earth.º |
