 37:1 ¶ [[[A Psalm] of David.]] Fret not thyself because of evil-doers, neither be envious of them that do iniquity.

 37:1 ¶ [[[A Psalm] of David.]]º Fretºº not thyselfºº because of evildoers,ºº neitherº be thou enviousºº against the workersºº of iniquity.º

 37:2 For they shall soon be withered as the grass, and shall soon fall away as the green herbs.

 37:2 Forº they shall soonº be cut downºº like the grass,º and witherºº as the greenº herb.º

 37:3 Hope in the Lord, and do good; and dwell on the land, and thou shalt be fed with the wealth of it.

 37:3 Trustºº in Yahweh,º and doºº good;º [so] shalt thou dwellºº in the land,º and verilyº thou shalt be fed.ºº

 37:4 Delight [thyself] in the Lord; and he shall grant thee the requests of thine heart.

 37:4 Delightºº thyselfº also inº Yahweh;º and he shall giveºº thee the desiresº of thine heart.º

 37:5 Disclose thy way to the Lord, and hope in him; and he shall bring [it] to pass.

 37:5 Commitºº thy wayº untoº Yahweh;º trustºº also inº him; and heº shall bring [it] to pass.ºº

 37:6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noon-day.

 37:6 And he shall bring forthºº thy righteousnessº as the light,º and thy judgmentº as the noonday.º

 37:7 Submit thyself to the Lord, and supplicate him: fret not thyself because of him that prospers in his way, at the man that does unlawful deeds.

 37:7 Restºº in Yahweh,º and wait patientlyºº for him: fretºº not thyselfºº because of him who prosperethºº in his way,º because of the manº who bringethºº wicked devicesº to pass.ººº

 37:8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself so as to do evil.

 37:8 Ceaseºº from anger,ºº and forsakeºº wrath:º fretºº not thyselfºº in any wiseº to do evil.ºº

 37:9 For evil-doers shall be destroyed: but they that wait on the Lord, they shall inherit the land.

 37:9 Forº evildoersºº shall be cut off:ºº but those that waitºº uponº Yahweh,º theyº shall inheritºº the earth.º

 37:10 And yet a little while, and the sinner shall not be, and thou shalt seek for his place, and shalt not find [it].

 37:10 For yetº a littleº while,º and the wickedº [shall] notº [be]: yea, thou shalt diligently considerººº his place,º and it [shall] notº [be].

 37:11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight [themselves] in the abundance of peace.

 37:11 But the meekº shall inheritºº the earth;º and shall delightºº themselvesº inº the abundanceº of peace.º

 37:12 The sinner will watch for the righteous, and gnash his teeth upon him.

 37:12 The wickedº plottethºº against the just,º and gnashethºº uponº him with his teeth.º

 37:13 But the Lord shall laugh at him: for he foresees that his day will come.

 37:13 Yahwehº shall laughºº at him: forº he seethºº thatº his dayº is coming.ºº

 37:14 Sinners have drawn their swords, they have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy one, [and] to slay the upright in heart.

 37:14 The wickedº have drawn outºº the sword,º and have bentºº their bow,º to cast downºº the poorº and needy,º [and] to slayºº such as be of uprightº conversation.º

 37:15 Let their sword enter into their [own] heart, and their bows be broken.

 37:15 Their swordº shall enterºº into their own heart,º and their bowsº shall be broken.ºº

 37:16 A little is better to the righteous than abundant wealth of sinners.

 37:16 A littleº that a righteousº manº hath [is] betterº than the richesºº of manyº wicked.º

 37:17 For the arms of sinners shall be broken; but the Lord supports the righteous.

 37:17 Forº the armsº of the wickedº shall be broken:ºº but Yahwehº upholdethºº the righteous.º

 37:18 The Lord knows the ways of the perfect; and their inheritance shall be for ever.

 37:18 Yahwehº knowethºº the daysº of the upright:º and their inheritanceº shall beº for ever.º

 37:19 They shall not be ashamed in an evil time; and in days of famine they shall be satisfied.

 37:19 They shall notº be ashamedºº in the evilº time:º and in the daysº of famineº they shall be satisfied.ºº

 37:20 For the sinners shall perish; and the enemies of the Lord at the moment of their being honoured and exalted have utterly vanished like smoke.

 37:20 Butº the wickedº shall perish,ºº and the enemiesºº of Yahwehº [shall be] as the fatº of lambs:º they shall consume;ºº into smokeº shall they consume away.ºº

 37:21 The sinner borrows, and will not pay again: but the righteous has compassion, and gives.

 37:21 The wickedº borroweth,ºº and payethº notº again:ºº but the righteousº sheweth mercy,ºº and giveth.ºº

 37:22 For they that bless him shall inherit the earth; and they that curse him shall be utterly destroyed.

 37:22 Forº [such as be] blessedºº of him shall inheritºº the earth;º and [they that be] cursedºº of him shall be cut off.ºº

 37:23 The steps of a man are rightly ordered by the Lord: and he will take pleasure in his way.

 37:23 The stepsº of a [good] manº are orderedºº by Yahweh:ºº and he delightethºº in his way.º

 37:24 When he falls, he shall not be ruined: for the Lord supports his hand.

 37:24 Thoughº he fall,ºº he shall notº be utterly cast down:ºº forº Yahwehº upholdethºº [him with] his hand.º

 37:25 I was [once] young, indeed I am now old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed seeking bread.

 37:25 I have beenº young,º andº [now] am old;ºº yet have I notº seenºº the righteousº forsaken,ºº nor his seedº beggingºº bread.º

 37:26 He is merciful, and lends continually; and his seed shall be blessed.

 37:26 [He is] everºº merciful,ºº and lendeth;ºº and his seedº [is] blessed.º

 37:27 Turn aside from evil, and do good; and dwell for ever.

 37:27 Departºº fromº evil,º and doºº good;º and dwellºº for evermore.º

 37:28 For the Lord loves judgment, and will not forsake his saints; they shall be preserved for ever: the blameless shall be avenged, but the seed of the ungodly shall be utterly destroyed.

 37:28 Forº Yahwehº lovethºº judgment,º and forsakethºº notºº his saints;º they are preservedºº for ever:º but the seedº of the wickedº shall be cut off.ºº

 37:29 But the righteous shall inherit the earth, and dwell upon it for ever.

 37:29 The righteousº shall inheritºº the land,º and dwellºº thereinº for ever.º

 37:30 The mouth of the righteous will meditate wisdom, and his tongue will speak of judgment.

 37:30 The mouthº of the righteousº speakethºº wisdom,º and his tongueº talkethºº of judgment.º

 37:31 The law of his God is in his heart; and his steps shall not slide.

 37:31 The lawº of his Elohimº [is] in his heart;º noneº of his stepsº shall slide.ºº

 37:32 The sinner watches the righteous, and seeks to slay him.

 37:32 The wickedº watchethºº the righteous,º and seekethºº to slayºº him.

 37:33 But the Lord will not leave him in his hands, nor by any means condemn him when he is judged.

 37:33 Yahwehº will notº leaveºº him in his hand,º norº condemnºº him when he is judged.ºº

 37:34 Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are destroyed, thou shalt see [it].

 37:34 Waitºº onº Yahweh,º and keepºº his way,º and he shall exaltºº thee to inheritºº the land:º when the wickedº are cut off,ºº thou shalt seeºº [it].

 37:35 I saw the ungodly very highly exalting himself, and lifting himself up like the cedars of Lebanon{gr.Libanus}.

 37:35 I have seenºº the wickedº in great power,º and spreadingºº himselfº like a greenº bay tree.º

 37:36 Yet I passed by, and lo! he was not: and I sought him, but his place was not found.

 37:36 Yet he passed away,ºº and, lo,º he [was] not:º yea, I soughtºº him, but he could notº be found.ºº

 37:37 Maintain innocence, and behold uprightness: for there is a remnant to the peaceable man.

 37:37 Markºº the perfectº [man], and beholdºº the upright:º forº the endº of [that] manº [is] peace.º

 37:38 But the transgressors shall be utterly destroyed together: the remnants of the ungodly shall be utterly destroyed.

 37:38 But the transgressorsºº shall be destroyedºº together:º the endº of the wickedº shall be cut off.ºº

 37:39 But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord; and he is their defender in the time of affliction.

 37:39 But the salvationº of the righteousº [is] of Yahweh:ºº [he is] their strengthº in the timeº of trouble.º

 37:40 And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them: and he shall rescue them from sinners, and save them, because they have hoped in him.

 37:40 And Yahwehº shall helpºº them, and deliverºº them: he shall deliverºº them from the wicked,ºº and saveºº them, becauseº they trustºº in him.
