[[A prayer of David.]] Hearken, O Lord of my righteousness, attend to my petition; give ear to my prayer not [uttered] with deceitful lips. |

Let my judgment come forth from thy presence; let mine eyes behold righteousness. |

Let my sentenceº
come forthºº
from thy presence;ºº
let thine eyesº
beholdºº
the things that are equal.º |

Thou has proved mine heart; thou hast visited [me] by night; thou hast tried me as with fire, and unrighteousness has not been found in me: [I am purposed] that my mouth shall not speak [amiss]. |

[me] in the night;º
thou hast triedºº
me, [and] shalt findºº
nothing;º
I am purposedºº
[that] my mouthº
shall notº
transgress.ºº |

As for the works of men, by the words of thy lips I have guarded [myself from] hard ways. |

Concerning the worksº
of men,º
by the wordº
of thy lipsº
Iº
have keptºº
[me from] the pathsº
of the destroyer.º |

Direct my steps in thy paths, that my steps slip not. |

Hold upºº
my goingsº
in thy paths,º
[that] my footstepsº
slipºº
not.º |

I have cried, for thou heardest me, O God: incline thine ear to me, and hearken to my words. |

have calledºº
uponº
thee, forº
thou wilt hearºº
me, O El:º
inclineºº
thine earº
unto me, [and hear]ºº
my speech.º |

Shew the marvels of thy mercies, thou that savest them that hope in thee. |

Shew thy marvellousºº
lovingkindness,ºº
O thou that savestºº
by thy right handº
them which put their trustºº
[in thee] from those that rise upººº
[against them]. |

Keep me as the apple of the eye from those that resist thy right hand: thou shalt screen me by the covering of thy wings, |

hideºº
me under the shadowº
of thy wings,º |

from the face of the ungodly that have afflicted me: mine enemies have compassed about my soul. |

the wickedº
thatº
oppressºº
me, [from] my deadlyº
enemies,ºº
[who] compass me about.ººº |

They have enclosed [themselves with] their own fat: their mouth has spoken pride. |

They are inclosedºº

their own fat:º
with their mouthº
they speakºº
proudly.º |

They have now cast me out and compassed me round about: they have set their eyes [so as] to bow them down to the ground. |

compassedºº
us in our steps:º
they have setºº
their eyesº
bowing downºº
to the earth;º |

17:12
They laid wait for me as a lion ready for prey, and like a lion's whelp dwelling in secret [places]. |

Likeº
as a lionº
[that] is greedyºº
of his prey,ºº
and as it were a young lionº
lurkingºº
in secret places.º |

Arise, O Lord, prevent them, and cast them down: deliver my soul from the ungodly: [draw] thy sword, |

Arise,ºº
O Yahweh,º
disappointººº
him,º
cast him down:ºº
deliverºº
my soulº
from the wicked,ºº
[which is] thy sword:º |

17:14
because of the enemies of thine hand: O Lord, destroy them from the earth; scatter them in their life, though their belly has been filled with thy hidden [treasures]: they have been satisfied with uncleanness, and have left the remnant [of their possessions] to their babes. |

From menºº
[which are] thy hand,º
O Yahweh,º
from menºº
of the world,ºº
[which have] their portionº
in [this] life,º
and whose bellyº
thou fillestºº
with thy hidºº
[treasure]: they are fullºº
of children,º
and leaveººº
the restº
of their [substance] to their babes.º |

But I shall appear in righteousness before thy face: I shall be satisfied when thy glory appears. |
|
17:15
As for me,º
I will beholdºº
thy faceº
in righteousness:º
I shall be satisfied,ºº
when I awake,ºº
with thy likeness.º |
