 4:1 ¶ [[For the End, a Song of David among [the] Psalms.]] When I called upon [him], the God of my righteousness heard me: thou hast made room for me in tribulation; pity me, and hearken to my prayer.

 4:1 ¶ [[To the chief Musicianºº on Neginoth,º A Psalmº of David.]]º Hearºº me when I call,ºº O Elohimº of my righteousness:º thou hast enlargedºº me [when I was] in distress;º have mercyºº upon me, and hearºº my prayer.º

 4:2 O ye sons on men, how long [will ye be] slow of heart? wherefore do ye love vanity, and seek falsehood? Pause.

 4:2 O ye sonsº of men,º how longºº [will ye turn] my gloryº into shame?º [how long] will ye loveºº vanity,º [and] seekºº afterº leasing?º Selah.º

 4:3 But know ye that the Lord has done wondrous things for his holy one: the Lord will hear me when I cry to him.

 4:3 But knowºº thatº Yahwehº hath set apartºº him that is godlyº for himself: Yahwehº will hearºº when I callºº untoº him.

 4:4 Be ye angry, and sin not; feel compunction upon your beds for what ye say in your hearts. Pause.

 4:4 Stand in awe,ºº and sinºº not:º communeºº with your own heartº uponº your bed,º and be still.ºº Selah.º

 4:5 Offer the sacrifice of righteousness, and trust in the Lord.

 4:5 Offerºº the sacrificesº of righteousness,º and put your trustºº inº Yahweh.º

 4:6 Many say, Who will shew us good things? the light of thy countenance, O Lord, has been manifested towards us.

 4:6 [There be] manyº that say,ºº Whoº will shewºº us [any] good?º Yahweh,º lift thou upºº the lightº of thy countenanceº uponº us.

 4:7 Thou hast put gladness into my heart: they have been satisfied with the fruit of their corn and wine and oil.

 4:7 Thou hast putºº gladnessº in my heart,º more than in the timeºº [that] their cornº and their wineº increased.ºº

 4:8 I will both lie down in peace and sleep: for thou, Lord, only hast caused me to dwell securely.

 4:8 I will bothº lay me downºº in peace,º and sleep:ºº forº thou,º Yahweh,º onlyº makest me dwellºº in safety.º
