unrighteousº

and that writeºº
grievousnessº
[which] they have prescribed;ºº |

Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness [which] they have prescribed; |

To turn asideºº
the needyº
from judgment,ºº
and to take awayºº
the rightº
from the poorº
of my people,º
that widowsº
may beº
their prey,º
and [that] they may robºº
the fatherless!º |

10:2
To turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and [that] they may rob the fatherless! |

10:3
And whatº
will ye doºº
in the dayº
of visitation,º
and in the desolationº
[which] shall comeºº
from far?ºº
toº
whomº
will ye fleeºº
for help?º
and whereº
will ye leaveºº
your glory?º |

10:3
And what will ye do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation [which] shall come from far? to whom will ye flee for help? and where will ye leave your glory? |

Withoutº
me they shallº
bow downºº
underº
the prisoners,º
and they shall fallºº
underº
the slain.ºº
For allº
thisº
his angerº
is notº
turned away,ºº
but his handº
[is] stretched outº
still.ººº |

Without me they shall bow down under the prisoners, and they shall fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand [is] stretched out still. |

10:5 ¶

´Aššûr
אַשּׁוּר,º
the rodº
of mine anger,º
and the staffº
in their handº
is mine indignation.º |

10:5 ¶
O Ashshur, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation. |
|
10:6
I will sendºº
him against an hypocriticalº
nation,º
and againstº
the peopleº
of my wrathº
will I give him a charge,ºº
to takeºº
the spoil,º
and to takeºº
the prey,º
and to tread them downººº
like the mireº
of the streets.º |

I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets. |

Howbeit heº
meanethºº
notº
so,º
neitherº
doth his heartº
thinkºº
so;º
butº
[it is] in his heartº
to destroyºº
and cut offºº
nationsº
notº
a few.º |

Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but [it is] in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few. |

[Are] notº
my princesº
altogetherº
kings?º |

For he saith, [Are] not my princes altogether kings? |

the kingdomsº
of the idols,º
and whose graven imagesº
did excel them of
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַםºº
and of
Šömrôn
שֹׁמרוֹן;ºº |

As my hand hath found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel them of Yerushalaim and of Shomron; |

Shall I not,º
asº
I have doneºº
unto
Šömrôn
שֹׁמרוֹןº
and her idols,º
soº
doºº
to
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַםº
and her idols?º |

Shall I not, as I have done unto Shomron and her idols, so do to Yerushalaim and her idols? |

10:12
Wherefore it shall come to pass,º
[that] whenº
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
hath performedºº
hisº
wholeº
workº
upon mountº
Xiyyôn
צִיּוֹןº
and on
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם,º
I will punishººº
the fruitº
of the stoutº
heartº
of the kingº
of
´Aššûr
אַשּׁוּר,º
andº
the gloryº
of his highº
looks.º |

Wherefore it shall come to pass, [that] when Yahweh hath performed his whole work upon mount Tziyyon and on Yerushalaim, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Ashshur, and the glory of his high looks. |
|

Forº
he saith,ºº
By the strengthº
of my handº
I have doneºº
[it], and by my wisdom;º
forº
I am prudent:ºº
and I have removedºº
the boundsº
of the people,º
and have robbedºº
their treasures,ººº
and I have put downºº
the inhabitantsºº
like a valiantºº
[man]: |

For he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done [it], and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant [man]: |

10:14
And my handº
hath foundºº
as a nestº
the richesº
of the people:º
and as one gatherethºº
eggsº
[that are] left,ºº
have Iº
gatheredºº
allº
the earth;º
and there wasº
noneº
that movedºº
the wing,º
or openedºº
the mouth,º
or peeped.ºº |

And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth eggs [that are] left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped. |

Shall the axeº
boastºº
itselfº
againstº
him that hewethºº
therewith? [or] shall the sawº
magnifyºº
itselfº
againstº
him that shakethºº
it? as if the rodº
should shakeºº
[itself] againstºº
them that lift it up,ºº
[or] as if the staffº
should lift upºº
[itself, as if it were] noº
wood.º |

Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith? [or] shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake [itself] against them that lift it up, [or] as if the staff should lift up [itself, as if it were] no wood. |

Thereforeº

צְבָאוֹת,º

leanness;º
and underº
his gloryº
he shall kindleºº
a burningº
like the burningº
of a fire.º |

Therefore shall Adon, Yahweh Tzevaoth, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory he shall kindle a burning like the burning of a fire. |

And the lightº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵלº
shall beº
for a fire,º
and his Holy Oneº
for a flame:º
and it shall burnºº
and devourºº
his thornsº
and his briersº
in oneº
day;º |

And the light of Yisrael shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day; |

And shall consumeºº
the gloryº
of his forest,º
and of his fruitful field,º
both soulºº
and body:º
and they shall beº
as when a standardbearerºº
fainteth.ºº |

And shall consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body: and they shall be as when a standardbearer fainteth. |

And the restº
of the treesº
of his forestº
shall beº
few,º
that a childº
may writeºº
them. |

And the rest of the trees of his forest shall be few, that a child may write them. |

10:20 ¶
And it shall come to passº
in thatº
day,º
[that] the remnantº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,º
and such as are escapedº
of the houseº
of
Ya`áköv
יַעֲקֹב,º
shall noº
moreº
againºº
stayºº
uponº
him that smoteºº
them; but shall stayºº
uponº
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,º
the Holy Oneº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵל,º
in truth.º |

10:20 ¶
And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] the remnant of Yisrael, and such as are escaped of the house of Yaaqov, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but shall stay upon Yahweh, the Holy One of Yisrael, in truth. |

The remnantº

[even] the remnantº

יַעֲקֹב,º
untoº
the mightyº
´Ël
אֵל.º |

The remnant shall return, [even] the remnant of Yaaqov, unto the mighty El. |

thy peopleº

יִשׂרָאֵלº
beº
as the sandº
of the sea,º
[yet] a remnantº
of them shall return:ºº
the consumptionº
decreedºº
shall overflowºº
with righteousness.º |

For though thy people Yisrael be as the sand of the sea, [yet] a remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness. |

צְבָאוֹת,º
O my peopleº
that dwellestºº

Xiyyôn
צִיּוֹן,º
be notº
afraidºº
of the
´Aššûr
אַשּׁוּר:ºº
he shall smiteºº
thee with a rod,º
and shall lift upºº
his staffº
againstº
thee, after the mannerº
of
Mixrayim
מִצרַיִם.º |

10:24 ¶
Therefore thus saith Adonay Yahweh Tzevaoth, O my people that dwellest in Tziyyon, be not afraid of the Ashshur: he shall smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Mitzrayim. |

For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall cease, and mine anger in their destruction. |

And Yahweh Tzevaoth shall stir up a scourge for him according to the slaughter of Midyan at the rock of Orev: and [as] his rod [was] upon the sea, so shall he lift it up after the manner of Mitzrayim. |

And it shall come to passº
in thatº
day,º
[that] his burdenº
shall be taken awayºº
from offºº
thy shoulder,º
and his yokeº
from offºº
thy neck,º
and the yokeº
shall be destroyedºº
becauseºº
of the anointing.º |

And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing. |

with terror:º

[shall be] hewn down,ºº

Behold, Adon, Yahweh Tzevaoth, shall lop the bough with terror: and the high ones of stature [shall be] hewn down, and the haughty shall be humbled. |

And he shall cut downºº
the thicketsº
of the forestº
with iron,º

shall fallºº
by a mighty one.º |

And he shall cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Levanon shall fall by a mighty one. |
