 64:1 ¶ Ohº thatº thou wouldest rendºº the heavens,º that thou wouldest come down,ºº that the mountainsº might flow downºº at thy presence,ºº

 64:1 ¶ Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might flow down at thy presence,

 64:2 As [when] the meltingº fireº burneth,ºº the fireº causeth the watersº to boil,ºº to make thy nameº knownºº to thine adversaries,º [that] the nationsº may trembleºº at thy presence!ºº

 64:2 As [when] the melting fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil, to make thy name known to thine adversaries, [that] the nations may tremble at thy presence!

 64:3 When thou didstºº terrible thingsºº [which] we lookedºº not for,ºº thou camest down,ºº the mountainsº flowed downºº at thy presence.ºº

 64:3 When thou didst terrible things [which] we looked not for, thou camest down, the mountains flowed down at thy presence.

 64:4 For since the beginning of the worldºº [men] have notº heard,ºº norº perceived by the ear,ºº neitherº hath the eyeº seen,ºº O ´Élöhîm אֱלֹהִים,º besideº thee, [what] he hath preparedºº for him that waitethºº for him.

 64:4 For since the beginning of the world [men] have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O Elohim, beside thee, [what] he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.

 64:5 Thou meetestººº him that rejoicethºº and workethºº righteousness,º [those that] rememberºº thee in thy ways:º behold,º thouº art wroth;ºº for we have sinned:ºº in those is continuance,º and we shall be saved.ºº

 64:5 Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, [those that] remember thee in thy ways: behold, thou art wroth; for we have sinned: in those is continuance, and we shall be saved.

 64:6 But we areº allº as an uncleanº [thing], and allº our righteousnessesº [are] as filthyº rags;º and we allº do fadeººººº as a leaf;º and our iniquities,º like the wind,º have taken us away.ºº

 64:6 But we are all as an unclean [thing], and all our righteousnesses [are] as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

 64:7 And [there is] noneº that callethºº upon thy name,º that stirreth upºº himselfº to take holdºº of thee: forº thou hast hidºº thy faceº fromº us, and hast consumedºº us, becauseº of our iniquities.º

 64:7 And [there is] none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities.

 64:8 But now,º O Yähwè יָהוֶה,º thouº [art] our father;º weº [are] the clay,º and thouº our potter;ºº and we allº [are] the workº of thy hand.º

 64:8 But now, O Yahweh, thou [art] our father; we [are] the clay, and thou our potter; and we all [are] the work of thy hand.

 64:9 ¶ Be not wrothººº very sore,ºº O Yähwè יָהוֶה,º neitherº rememberºº iniquityº for ever:º behold,º see,ºº we beseech thee,º we [are] allº thy people.º

 64:9 ¶ Be not wroth very sore, O Yahweh, neither remember iniquity for ever: behold, see, we beseech thee, we [are] all thy people.

 64:10 Thy holyº citiesº areº a wilderness,º Xiyyôn צִיּוֹןº isº a wilderness,º Yærûšälaim יְרוּשָׁלִַםº a desolation.º

 64:10 Thy holy cities are a wilderness, Tziyyon is a wilderness, Yerushalaim a desolation.

 64:11 Our holyº and our beautifulº house,º whereº our fathersº praisedºº thee, isº burned upº with fire:º and allº our pleasant thingsº areº laid waste.º

 64:11 Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised thee, is burned up with fire: and all our pleasant things are laid waste.

 64:12 Wilt thou refrainºº thyselfº forº theseº [things], O Yähwè יָהוֶה?º wilt thou hold thy peace,ºº and afflictºº us very sore?ºº

 64:12 Wilt thou refrain thyself for these [things], O Yahweh? wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us very sore?
