The burden of the desert of the sea. As whirlwinds in the south pass through; [so] it cometh from the desert, from a terrible land. |

A grievousº
visionº
is declaredºº
unto me; the treacherous dealerºº
dealeth treacherously,ºº
and the spoilerºº
spoileth.ºº

A grievous vision is declared unto me; the treacherous dealer dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler spoileth. Go up, O Elam: besiege, O Maday; all the sighing thereof have I made to cease. |

Thereforeºº
are my loinsº
filledºº
with pain:º
pangsº
have taken holdºº
upon me, as the pangsº
of a woman that travaileth:ºº
I was bowed downºº
at the hearingººº
[of it]; I was dismayedºº
at the seeingººº
[of it]. |

Therefore are my loins filled with pain: pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a woman that travaileth: I was bowed down at the hearing [of it]; I was dismayed at the seeing [of it]. |

fearfulnessº

me: the nightº
of my pleasureº
hath he turnedºº
into fearº
unto me. |

My heart panted, fearfulness affrighted me: the night of my pleasure hath he turned into fear unto me. |

in the watchtower,º
eat,ºº
drink:ºº
arise,ºº
ye princes,º
[and] anointºº
the shield.º |

Prepare the table, watch in the watchtower, eat, drink: arise, ye princes, [and] anoint the shield. |

For thus hath Yahweh said unto me, Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth. |

And he sawºº
a chariotº
[with] a coupleº
of horsemen,º
a chariotº
of asses,º
[and] a chariotº
of camels;º
and he hearkenedºº
diligentlyº
with muchº
heed:º |

And he saw a chariot [with] a couple of horsemen, a chariot of asses, [and] a chariot of camels; and he hearkened diligently with much heed: |

And he cried,ºº
A lion:º

יָהוֶה,ºº
Iº
standºº
continuallyº
uponº
the watchtowerº
in the daytime,º
and Iº
am setºº
inº
my wardº
wholeº
nights:º |

And he cried, A lion: Yahweh, I stand continually upon the watchtower in the daytime, and I am set in my ward whole nights: |

And, behold,º
hereº
comethºº
a chariotº
of men,º
[with] a coupleº
of horsemen.º
And he answeredºº
and said,ºº
Bävel
בָּבֶלº
is fallen,ºº
is fallen;ºº
and allº
the graven imagesº
of her
´élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº
he hath brokenºº
unto the ground.º |

And, behold, here cometh a chariot of men, [with] a couple of horsemen. And he answered and said, Bavel is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her elohim he hath broken unto the ground. |

O my threshing,º
and the cornº
of my floor:º
that whichº
I have heardºº
ofºº

O my threshing, and the corn of my floor: that which I have heard of Yahweh Tzevaoth, the Elohim of Yisrael, have I declared unto you. |

The burden of Dumah. He calleth to me out of Seir, Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night? |

The watchmanºº

The morningº
cometh,ºº

ye will enquire,ºº

ye: return,ºº

The watchman said, The morning cometh, and also the night: if ye will enquire, enquire ye: return, come. |

In the forestº

shall ye lodge,ºº
O ye travelling companiesº
of
Dæðänîm
דְּדָנִים.º |

The burden upon Arav. In the forest in Arav shall ye lodge, O ye travelling companies of Dedanim. |

The inhabitantsºº
of the landº

תֵּימָאº
broughtºº
waterº
to himºº
that was thirsty,º
they preventedºº
with their breadº
him that fled.ºº |

The inhabitants of the land of Tema brought water to him that was thirsty, they prevented with their bread him that fled. |

they fledºº
fromºº
the swords,º
fromºº
the drawnºº
sword,º
and fromºº
the bentºº
bow,º
and fromºº
the grievousnessº
of war.º |

For they fled from the swords, from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow, and from the grievousness of war. |

a year,º
according to the yearsº

the gloryº

For thus hath Yahweh said unto me, Within a year, according to the years of an hireling, and all the glory of Qedar shall fail: |

And the residueº
of the numberº
of archers,º
the mighty menº
of the childrenº
of
Këðär
קֵדָר,º
shall be diminished:ºº
forº
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº

Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵלº
hath spokenºº
[it]. |

And the residue of the number of archers, the mighty men of the children of Qedar, shall be diminished: for Yahweh Elohim of Yisrael hath spoken [it]. |
