Behold,º
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
maketh the earthº
empty,ººº
and maketh it waste,ºº
and turnethºº
it upside down,ºº
and scattereth abroadºº
the inhabitantsºº
thereof. |

Behold, Yahweh maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof. |

24:2
And it shall be,º
as with the people,º
so with the priest;º
as with the servant,º
so with his
´áðôn
אֲדוֹן;º
as with the maid,º
so with her mistress;º
as with the buyer,ºº
so with the seller;ºº
as with the lender,ºº
so with the borrower;ºº
as with the taker of usury,ºº
soº
with the giver of usuryºº
to him. |

And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his adon; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. |

The landº
shall be utterlyºº
emptied,ºº
and utterlyºº
spoiled:ºº
forº
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
hath spokenººº
thisº
word.º |

The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for Yahweh hath spoken this word. |

The earthº
mournethºº
[and] fadeth away,ºº
the worldº
languishethºº
[and] fadeth away,ºº
the haughtyº
peopleº
of the earthº
do languish.ºº |

24:4
The earth mourneth [and] fadeth away, the world languisheth [and] fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish. |
|
24:5
The earthº
also is defiledºº
underº
the inhabitantsºº
thereof; becauseº
they have transgressedºº
the laws,º
changedºº
the ordinance,º
brokenºº
the everlastingº
covenant.º |

24:5
The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. |
|
24:6
Thereforeºº
hath the curseº
devouredºº
the earth,º
and they that dwellºº
therein are desolate:ºº
thereforeºº
the inhabitantsºº
of the earthº
are burned,ºº
and fewº
menº
left.ºº |

Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left. |

The new wineº
mourneth,ºº
the vineº
languisheth,ºº
allº
the merryheartedºº
do sigh.ºº |

24:7
The new wine mourneth, the vine languisheth, all the merryhearted do sigh. |
|
24:8
The mirthº
of tabretsº
ceaseth,ºº
the noiseº
of them that rejoiceº
endeth,ºº
the joyº
of the harpº
ceaseth.ºº |

24:8
The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth, the joy of the harp ceaseth. |
|
24:9
They shall notº
drinkºº
wineº
with a song;º
strong drinkº
shall be bitterºº
to them that drinkºº
it. |
|
24:9
They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink shall be bitter to them that drink it. |
|
24:10
The cityº
of confusionº
is broken down:ºº
everyº
houseº
is shut up,ºº
that no man may come in.ººº |

24:10
The city of confusion is broken down: every house is shut up, that no man may come in. |
|
24:11
[There is] a cryingº
forº
wineº
in the streets;º
allº
joyº
is darkened,ºº
the mirthº
of the landº
is gone.ºº |

[There is] a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone. |

24:12
In the cityº
is leftºº
desolation,º
and the gateº
is smittenºº
with destruction.º |
|
24:12
In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction. |

24:13 ¶
Whenº
thusº
it shall beº
in the midstº
of the landº
amongº
the people,º
[there shall be] as the shakingº
of an olive tree,º
[and] as the gleaning grapesº
whenº
the vintageº
is done.ºº |

24:13 ¶
When thus it shall be in the midst of the land among the people, [there shall be] as the shaking of an olive tree, [and] as the gleaning grapes when the vintage is done. |

24:14
Theyº
shall lift upºº
their voice,º
they shall singºº
for the majestyº
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,º
they shall cry aloudºº
from the sea.ºº |
|
24:14
They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing for the majesty of Yahweh, they shall cry aloud from the sea. |
|
24:15
Whereforeºº
glorifyºº
ye
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
in the fires,º
[even] the nameº
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº
of
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵלº
in the islesº
of the sea.º |

24:15
Wherefore glorify ye Yahweh in the fires, [even] the name of Yahweh Elohim of Yisrael in the isles of the sea. |
|
24:16 ¶
From the uttermost partºº
of the earthº
have we heardºº
songs,º
[even] gloryº
to the righteous.º
But I said,ºº
My leanness,º
my leanness,º
woeº
unto me! the treacherous dealersºº
have dealt treacherously;ºº
yea, the treacherous dealersºº
have dealt veryº
treacherously.ººº |

24:16 ¶
From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, [even] glory to the righteous. But I said, My leanness, my leanness, woe unto me! the treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously; yea, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously. |
|
24:17
Fear,º
and the pit,º
and the snare,º
[are] uponº
thee, O inhabitantºº
of the earth.º |

24:17
Fear, and the pit, and the snare, [are] upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth. |
|
24:18
And it shall come to pass,º
[that] he who fleethºº
from the noiseºº
of the fearº
shall fallºº
intoº
the pit;º
and he that cometh upºº
out of the midstºº
of the pitº
shall be takenºº
in the snare:º
forº
the windowsº
from on highºº
are open,ºº
and the foundationsº
of the earthº
do shake.ºº |

And it shall come to pass, [that] he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake. |

24:19
The earthº
is utterlyºº
broken down,ºº
the earthº
is cleanºº
dissolved,ºº
the earthº
is movedºº
exceedingly.ºº |

The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly. |
|
24:20
The earthº
shall reelºº
to and froºº
like a drunkard,º
and shall be removedºº
like a cottage;º
and the transgressionº
thereof shall be heavyºº
uponº
it; and it shall fall,ºº
and notº
riseºº
again.ºº |

The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again. |

24:21
And it shall come to passº
in thatº
day,º
[that]
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
shall punishººº
the hostº
of the high onesº
[that are] on high,º
and the kingsº
of the earthº
uponº
the earth.º |

24:21
And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] Yahweh shall punish the host of the high ones [that are] on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth. |
|
24:22
And they shall be gathered together,ºº
[as] prisonersº
are gatheredº
inº
the pit,º
and shall be shut upºº
inº
the prison,º
and after manyºº
daysº
shall they be visited.ºº |

24:22
And they shall be gathered together, [as] prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited. |
|
24:23
Then the moonº
shall be confounded,ºº
and the sunº
ashamed,ºº
whenº
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
Xævä´ô±
צְבָאוֹתº
shall reignºº
in mountº
Xiyyôn
צִיּוֹן,º
and in
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם,º
and beforeº
his ancientsº
gloriously.º |

24:23
Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when Yahweh Tzevaoth shall reign in mount Tziyyon, and in Yerushalaim, and before his ancients gloriously. |
