my peopleº
their transgression,º
and the houseº

יַעֲקֹבº
their sins.º |

58:1 ¶
Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Yaaqov their sins. |

Yet they seekºº
me daily,º
and delightºº
to knowº
my ways,º
as a nationº
thatº
didºº
righteousness,º
and forsookºº
notº
the ordinanceº
of their
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים:º
they askºº
of me the ordinancesº
of justice;º
they take delightºº
in approachingº
to
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים.º |

58:2
Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their Elohim: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to Elohim. |

58:3 ¶
Whereforeº
have we fasted,ºº
[say they], and thou seestºº
not?º
[wherefore] have we afflictedºº
our soul,º
and thou takest no knowledge?ººº
Behold,º
in the dayº
of your fastº
ye findºº
pleasure,º
and exactºº
allº
your labours.º |

Wherefore have we fasted, [say they], and thou seest not? [wherefore] have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours. |

Behold,º
ye fastºº
for strifeº
and debate,º
and to smiteºº
with the fistº
of wickedness:º
ye shall notº
fastºº
as [ye do this] day,º
to make your voiceº
to be heardºº
on high.º |

Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as [ye do this] day, to make your voice to be heard on high. |

Isº
it suchº
a fastº
that I have chosen?ºº
a dayº
for a manº
to afflictºº
his soul?º
[is it] to bow downºº
his headº
as a bulrush,º
and to spreadºº
sackclothº
and ashesº
[under him]? wilt thou callºº
thisº
a fast,º
and an acceptableº
dayº
to
Yähwè
יָהוֶה?º |

Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? [is it] to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes [under him]? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to Yahweh? |

the fastº
that I have chosen?ºº
to looseºº
the bandsº
of wickedness,º
to undoºº
the heavyº
burdens,º
and to let the oppressedºº
goºº
free,º
and that ye breakºº
everyº
yoke?º |

[Is] not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? |

[Is it] notº
to dealºº
thy breadº
to the hungry,º
and that thou bringºº
the poorº
that are cast outº
to thy house?º
whenº
thou seestºº
the naked,º
that thou coverºº
him; and that thou hideºº
not thyselfºº
from thine own flesh?ºº |

[Is it] not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? |

58:8 ¶
Thenº
shall thy lightº
break forthºº
as the morning,º
and thine healthº
shall spring forthºº
speedily:º
and thy righteousnessº
shall goºº
beforeº
thee; the gloryº
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
shall be thy rereward.ºº |

58:8 ¶
Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of Yahweh shall be thy rereward. |

Thenº
shalt thou call,ºº
and
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
shall answer;ºº
thou shalt cry,ºº
and he shall say,ºº
Hereº
I [am]. Ifº
thou take awayºº
from the midstºº
of thee the yoke,º
the putting forthºº
of the finger,º
and speakingºº
vanity;º |

Then shalt thou call, and Yahweh shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I [am]. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity; |

And [if] thou draw outºº
thy soulº
to the hungry,º
and satisfyºº
the afflictedºº
soul;º
then shall thy lightº
riseºº
in obscurity,º
and thy darknessº
[be] as the noonday:º |

58:10
And [if] thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness [be] as the noonday: |
|
58:11
And
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
shall guideºº
thee continually,º
and satisfyºº
thy soulº
in drought,º
and make fatºº
thy bones:º
and thou shalt beº
like a wateredº
garden,º
and like a springº
of water,º
whoseº
watersº
failºº
not.º |

And Yahweh shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not. |

And [they that shall be] ofº
thee shall buildºº
the oldº
waste places:º
thou shalt raise upºº
the foundationsº
of manyº
generations;º
and thou shalt be called,ºº
The repairerºº
of the breach,º
The restorerºº
of pathsº
to dwellº
in.ºº |

And [they that shall be] of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in. |

Ifº
thou turn awayºº
thy footº
from the sabbath,ºº
[from] doingºº
thy pleasureº
on my holyº
day;º
and callºº
the sabbathº
a delight,º
the holyº
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,º
honourable;ºº
and shalt honourºº
him, not doingººº
thine own ways,º
nor findingººº
thine own pleasure,º
nor speakingºº
[thine own] words:º |

58:13 ¶
If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, [from] doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of Yahweh, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking [thine own] words: |

shalt thou delightºº

יָהוֶה;º
and I will cause thee to rideºº
uponº
the high placesº
of the earth,º
and feedºº
thee with the heritageº
of
Ya`áköv
יַעֲקֹבº
thy father:º
forº
the mouthº
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
hath spokenºº
[it]. |

Then shalt thou delight thyself in Yahweh; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Yaaqov thy father: for the mouth of Yahweh hath spoken [it]. |
