The burden of Bavel, which Yeshayah the son of Amotz did see. |

13:2
Lift ye upºº
a bannerº
uponº
the highºº
mountain,º
exaltºº
the voiceº
unto them, shakeºº
the hand,º
that they may goºº
into the gatesº
of the nobles.º |

13:2
Lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles. |
|
13:3
Iº
have commandedºº
my sanctified ones,ºº
I have alsoº
calledºº
my mighty onesº
for mine anger,º
[even] them that rejoiceº
in my highness.º |

I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, [even] them that rejoice in my highness. |

13:4
The noiseº
of a multitudeº
in the mountains,º
likeº
asº
of a greatº
people;º
a tumultuousº
noiseº
of the kingdomsº
of nationsº
gathered together:ºº

the hostº
of the battle.º |

The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: Yahweh Tzevaoth mustereth the host of the battle. |

13:5
They comeºº
from a farº
country,ººº
from the endºº
of heaven,º
[even]
Yähwè
יָהוֶה,º
and the weaponsº
of his indignation,º
to destroyºº
the wholeº
land.º |
|
13:5
They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, [even] Yahweh, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land. |
|
13:6 ¶
Howlºº
ye; forº
the dayº
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
[is] at hand;º
it shall comeºº
as a destructionº
from
Šadday
שַׁדַּי.ºº |
|
13:6 ¶
Howl ye; for the day of Yahweh [is] at hand; it shall come as a destruction from Shadday. |
|
13:7
Thereforeºº
shall allº
handsº
be faint,ºº
and everyº
man'sº
heartº
shall melt:ºº |
|
13:7
Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt: |
|
13:8
And they shall be afraid:ºº
pangsº
and sorrowsº
shall take holdºº
of them; they shall be in painºº
as a woman that travaileth:ºº
they shall be amazedºº
oneº
atº
another;º
their facesº
[shall be as] flames.ºº |

And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces [shall be as] flames. |

13:9
Behold,º
the dayº
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
cometh,ºº
cruelº
both with wrathº
and fierceº
anger,º
to layºº
the landº
desolate:º
and he shall destroyºº
the sinnersº
thereof out ofº
it. |

13:9
Behold, the day of Yahweh cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. |
|
13:10
Forº
the starsº
of heavenº
and the constellationsº
thereof shall notº
giveºº
their light:º
the sunº
shall be darkenedºº
in his going forth,ºº
and the moonº
shall notº
cause her lightº
to shine.ºº |

13:10
For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. |
|
13:11
And I will punishºº
the worldº
forº
[their] evil,º
and the wickedº
forº
their iniquity;º
and I will cause the arrogancyº
of the proudº
to cease,ºº
and will lay lowºº
the haughtinessº
of the terrible.º |

13:11
And I will punish the world for [their] evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible. |

13:12
I will make a manº
more preciousºº
than fine gold;ºº
even a manº
than the golden wedgeºº
of
´Ôfîr
אוֹפִיר.º |

13:12
I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ofir. |
|
13:13
Thereforeºº
I will shakeºº
the heavens,º
and the earthº
shall removeºº
out of her place,ºº
in the wrathº
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
Xævä´ô±
צְבָאוֹת,º
and in the dayº
of his fierceº
anger.º |

13:13
Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of Yahweh Tzevaoth, and in the day of his fierce anger. |
|
13:14
And it shall beº
as the chasedºº
roe,º
and as a sheepº
that noº
man taketh up:ºº
they shall every manº
turnºº
toº
his own people,º
and fleeºº
every oneº
intoº
his own land.º |
|
13:14
And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land. |
|
13:15
Every oneº
that is foundºº
shall be thrust through;ºº
and every oneº
that is joinedºº
[unto them] shall fallºº
by the sword.º |
|
13:15
Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined [unto them] shall fall by the sword. |
|
13:16
Their childrenº
also shall be dashedº
to piecesºº
before their eyes;º
their housesº
shall be spoiled,ºº
and their wivesº
ravished.ºººº |
|
13:16
Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished. |
|
13:17
Behold,º
I will stir upººº
the
Mäðîm
מָדִיםº
againstº
them, whichº
shall notº
regardºº
silver;º
and [as for] gold,º
they shall notº
delightºº
in it. |
|
13:17
Behold, I will stir up the Madim against them, which shall not regard silver; and [as for] gold, they shall not delight in it. |
|
13:18
[Their] bowsº
also shall dashºº
the young menº
to pieces;ºº
and they shall have noº
pityºº
on the fruitº
of the womb;º
their eyeº
shall notº
spareººº
children.º |

13:18
[Their] bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children. |

13:19 ¶
And

the gloryº
of kingdoms,º
the beautyº
of the
Ca$dîm's
כַּשׂדִּיםº
excellency,º
shall beº
as when
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº
overthrewºº
Sæðöm
סְדֹםº
and
`Ámörà
עֲמֹרָה.º |

13:19 ¶
And Bavel, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Kasdim's excellency, shall be as when Elohim overthrew Sedom and Amorah. |
|
13:20
It shall neverºº
be inhabited,ºº
neitherº
shall it be dweltºº
in from generationº
toº
generation:º
neitherº
shall the
`Árävî
עֲרָבִיº
pitch tentºº
there;º
neitherº
shall the shepherdsºº
make their foldºº
there.º |

13:20
It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Aravi pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there. |
|
13:21
But wild beasts of the desertº
shall lieºº
there;º
and their housesº
shall be fullºº
of doleful creatures;º
and owlsºº
shall dwellºº
there,º
and satyrsº
shall danceºº
there.º |

13:21
But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there. |
|
13:22
And the wild beasts of the islandsº
shall cryºº
in their desolate houses,º
and dragonsº
in [their] pleasantº
palaces:º
and her timeº
[is] nearº
to come,ºº
and her daysº
shall notº
be prolonged.ºº |

And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in [their] pleasant palaces: and her time [is] near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged. |
