 39:1 ¶ At thatº timeº Mæröða¢ Bal´áðän מְרֹדַך־בַּלאֲדָן,º the sonº of Bal´áðän בַּלאֲדָן,º kingº of Bävel בָּבֶל,º sentºº lettersº and a presentº toº Çizkiyyà חִזקִיָּה:º for he had heardºº thatº he had been sick,ºº and was recovered.ºº

 39:1 ¶ At that time Merodakh-Baladan, the son of Baladan, king of Bavel, sent letters and a present to Chizqiyyah: for he had heard that he had been sick, and was recovered.

 39:2 And Çizkiyyà חִזקִיָּהº was gladºº ofº them, and shewedºº themº the houseº of his precious things,ºº the silver,º and the gold,º and the spices,º and the preciousº ointment,º and allº the houseº of his armour,º and allº thatº was foundºº in his treasures:º there wasº nothingºº in his house,º nor in allº his dominion,º thatº Çizkiyyà חִזקִיָּהº shewedºº them not.º

 39:2 And Chizqiyyah was glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Chizqiyyah shewed them not.

 39:3 ¶ Then cameºº Yæša`yà יְשַׁעיָהº the prophetº untoº kingº Çizkiyyà חִזקִיָּה,º and saidºº untoº him, Whatº saidºº theseº men?ºº and from whenceºº cameºº they untoº thee? And Çizkiyyà חִזקִיָּהº said,ºº They are comeºº from a farº countryºº untoº me, [even] from Bävel בָּבֶל.ºº

 39:3 ¶ Then came Yeshayah the prophet unto king Chizqiyyah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Chizqiyyah said, They are come from a far country unto me, [even] from Bavel.

 39:4 Then saidºº he, Whatº have they seenºº in thine house?º And Çizkiyyà חִזקִיָּהº answered,ººº Allº thatº [is] in mine houseº have they seen:ºº there isº nothingºº among my treasuresº thatº I have notº shewedºº them.

 39:4 Then said he, What have they seen in thine house? And Chizqiyyah answered, All that [is] in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.

 39:5 Then saidºº Yæša`yà יְשַׁעיָהº toº Çizkiyyà חִזקִיָּה,º Hearºº the wordº of Yähwè יָהוֶהº Xævä´ô± צְבָאוֹת:º

 39:5 Then said Yeshayah to Chizqiyyah, Hear the word of Yahweh Tzevaoth:

 39:6 Behold,º the daysº come,ºº that allº thatº [is] in thine house,º and [that] whichº thy fathersº have laid up in storeºº untilº thisº day,º shall be carriedºº to Bävel בָּבֶל:º nothingºº shall be left,ºº saithºº Yähwè יָהוֶה.º

 39:6 Behold, the days come, that all that [is] in thine house, and [that] which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Bavel: nothing shall be left, saith Yahweh.

 39:7 And of thy sonsºº thatº shall issueºº fromº thee, whichº thou shalt beget,ºº shall they take away;ºº and they shall beº eunuchsº in the palaceº of the kingº of Bävel בָּבֶל.º

 39:7 And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Bavel.

 39:8 Then saidºº Çizkiyyà חִזקִיָּהº toº Yæša`yà יְשַׁעיָה,º Goodº [is] the wordº of Yähwè יָהוֶהº whichº thou hast spoken.ºº He saidºº moreover, Forº there shall beº peaceº and truthº in my days.º

 39:8 Then said Chizqiyyah to Yeshayah, Good [is] the word of Yahweh which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.
