[[To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons of Qorach.]] Hear this, all [ye] people; give ear, all [ye] inhabitants of the world: |

Bothº
lowºº
andº
high,ºº
richº
and poor,º
together.º |
|
49:2
Both low and high, rich and poor, together. |
|
49:3
My mouthº
shall speakºº
of wisdom;º
and the meditationº
of my heartº
[shall be] of understanding.º |

My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart [shall be] of understanding. |
|
49:4
I will inclineºº
mine earº
to a parable:º
I will openºº
my dark sayingº
upon the harp.º |
|
49:4
I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp. |
|
49:5
Whereforeº
should I fearºº
in the daysº
of evil,º
[when] the iniquityº
of my heelsºº
shall compassºº
me about?º |

49:5
Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, [when] the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about? |
|

They that trustºº
inº
their wealth,º
and boastºº
themselvesº
in the multitudeº
of their riches;º |
|
49:6
They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; |
|
49:7
Noneº
[of them] canº
by any meansºº
redeemºº
his brother,º
norº
giveºº
to
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº
a ransomº
for him: |
|
49:7
None [of them] can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to Elohim a ransom for him: |
|
49:8
(For the redemptionº
of their soulº
[is] precious,ºº
and it ceasethºº
for ever:)º |
|
49:8
(For the redemption of their soul [is] precious, and it ceaseth for ever:) |
|
49:9
That he should stillº
liveºº
for ever,º
[and] notº
seeºº
corruption.º |
|
49:9
That he should still live for ever, [and] not see corruption. |
|
49:10
Forº
he seethºº
[that] wise menº
die,ºº
likewiseº
the foolº
and the brutish personº
perish,ºº
and leaveºº
their wealthº
to others.º |
|
49:10
For he seeth [that] wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others. |
|
49:11
Their inwardº
thoughtº
[is, that] their housesº
[shall continue] for ever,º
[and] their dwellingº
placesº
to allº
generations;º
they callºººº
[their] landsº
after their own names.º |

Their inward thought [is, that] their houses [shall continue] for ever, [and] their dwelling places to all generations; they call [their] lands after their own names. |

49:12
Nevertheless manº
[being] in honourº
abidethºº
not:º
he is likeºº
the beastsº
[that] perish.ºº |

49:12
Nevertheless man [being] in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts [that] perish. |
|
49:13
Thisº
their wayº
[is] their folly:º
yet their posterityº
approveºº
their sayings.º

This their way [is] their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah. |

49:14
Like sheepº
they are laidºº
in the grave;º
deathº
shall feedºº
on them; and the uprightº
shall have dominionºº
over them in the morning;º
and their beautyººº
shall consumeºº
in the graveº
from their dwelling.ºº |

Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling. |

Butº
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº
will redeemºº
my soulº
from the powerºº
of the grave:º
forº
he shall receiveºº
me.

סֶלָה.º |
|
49:15
But Elohim will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah. |
|
49:16
Be notº
thou afraidºº
whenº
oneº
is made rich,ºº
whenº
the gloryº
of his houseº
is increased;ºº |

49:16
Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased; |
|
49:17
For whenº
he diethº
he shall carryº
nothingºº
away:ºº
his gloryº
shall notº
descendºº
afterº
him. |

For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him. |
|
49:18
Thoughº
while he livedº
he blessedºº
his soul:º
and [men] will praiseºº
thee, whenº
thou doest wellºº
to thyself. |

49:18
Though while he lived he blessed his soul: and [men] will praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself. |
|
49:19
He shall goºº
toº
the generationº
of his fathers;º
they shall neverººº
seeºº
light.º |
|
49:19
He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light. |
|
49:20
Manº
[that is] in honour,º
and understandethºº
not,º
is likeºº
the beastsº
[that] perish.ºº |
|
49:20
Man [that is] in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts [that] perish. |
