and bringºº
hither the timbrel,º
the pleasantº
harpº
withº
the psaltery.º |

Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery. |

in the time appointed,º
on our solemn feastº

For this [was] a statute for Yisrael, [and] a law of the Elohim of Yaaqov. |

[for] a testimony,º
when he went outºº
throughº
the landº
of
Mixrayim
מִצרַיִם:º
[where] I heardºº
a languageº
[that] I understoodºº
not.º |

This he ordained in Yosef [for] a testimony, when he went out through the land of Mitzrayim: [where] I heard a language [that] I understood not. |

from the burden:ºº
his handsº
were deliveredºº

Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Merivah. Selah. |

יִשׂרָאֵל,º

thou wilt hearkenºº
unto me; |

Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Yisrael, if thou wilt hearken unto me; |

strangeºº

beº
in thee; neitherº
shalt thou worshipºº
any strangeº

There shall no strange el be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange el. |

thee out of the landºº

Mixrayim
מִצרַיִם:º
open thy mouthº
wide,ºº
and I will fillºº

I [am] Yahweh thy Elohim, which brought thee out of the land of Mitzrayim: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it. |

But my peopleº
would notº
hearkenºº
to my voice;º
and

יִשׂרָאֵלº
wouldºº
noneº
of me. |

But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Yisrael would none of me. |

So I gave them upºº
unto their own hearts'º
lust:º
[and] they walkedººº
in their own counsels.º |

So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: [and] they walked in their own counsels. |

Ohº
thatº
my peopleº
had hearkenedºº
unto me, [and]
Yi$rä´ël
יִשׂרָאֵלº
had walkedºº
in my ways!º |

Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, [and] Yisrael had walked in my ways! |

I should soonº
have subduedºº
their enemies,ºº
and turnedºº
my handº
againstº
their adversaries.º |
|
81:14
I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries. |
|
81:15
The hatersºº
of
Yähwè
יָהוֶהº
should have submittedºº
themselves unto him: but their timeº
should have enduredº
for ever.º |

81:15
The haters of Yahweh should have submitted themselves unto him: but their time should have endured for ever. |
|
81:16
He should have fedºº
them also with the finestºº
of the wheat:º
and with honeyº
out of the rockºº
should I have satisfiedºº
thee. |

He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee. |
