the heathenº
are comeºº
into thine inheritance;ºº
thy holyº
templeº
have they defiled;ºº
they have laidººº

יְרוּשָׁלִַםº
on heaps.º |

[[A Psalm of Asaf.]] O Elohim, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Yerushalaim on heaps. |

The dead bodiesº
of thy servantsº
have they givenºº
[to be] meatº
unto the fowlsº
of the heaven,º
the fleshº
of thy saintsº
unto the beastsº
of the earth.º |

The dead bodies of thy servants have they given [to be] meat unto the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth. |

Their bloodº
have they shedºº
like waterº
round aboutº
Yærûšälaim
יְרוּשָׁלִַם;º
and [there was] noneº
to buryºº
[them]. |

79:3
Their blood have they shed like water round about Yerushalaim; and [there was] none to bury [them]. |
|

We are becomeº
a reproachº
to our neighbours,º
a scornº
and derisionº
to them that are round aboutº
us. |

We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us. |

How long,ºº
Yähwè
יָהוֶה?º
wilt thou be angryºº
for ever?º
shall thy jealousyº
burnºº
likeº
fire?º |

How long, Yahweh? wilt thou be angry for ever? shall thy jealousy burn like fire? |

Pour outºº
thy wrathº
uponº
the heathenº
thatº
have notº
knownºº
thee, and uponº
the kingdomsº
thatº
have notº
calledºº
upon thy name.º |

Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name. |

they have devouredººº
Ya`áköv
יַעֲקֹב,º
and laid wasteºº
his dwelling place.º |

79:7
For they have devoured Yaaqov, and laid waste his dwelling place. |

O rememberºº
notº
against us formerº
iniquities:º
let thy tender merciesº
speedilyºº
preventºº
us: forº
we are broughtºº
veryº
low.ººº |

O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low. |

Helpºº
us, O
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִיםº
of our salvation,º
forºº
the gloryº
of thy name:º
and deliverºº
us, and purge awayººº
our sins,º
for thy name'sº
sake.ºº |

Help us, O Elohim of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name's sake. |

Whereforeº
should the heathenº
say,ºº
Whereº
[is] their
´Élöhîm
אֱלֹהִים?º
let him be knownºº
among the heathenº
in our sightº
[by] the revengingº
of the bloodº
of thy servantsº
[which is] shed.ºº |

79:10
Wherefore should the heathen say, Where [is] their Elohim? let him be known among the heathen in our sight [by] the revenging of the blood of thy servants [which is] shed. |

Let the sighingº
of the prisonerº
comeºº
beforeº
thee; according to the greatnessº
of thy powerº
preserveºº
thou those that are appointedº
to die;º |

Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die; |

And renderºº
unto our neighboursº
sevenfoldº
intoº
their bosomº
their reproach,º
wherewithº
they have reproachedºº
thee, O
Yähwè
יָהוֶה.º |

79:12
And render unto our neighbours sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Yahweh. |

So weº
thy peopleº
and sheepº
of thy pastureº
will give thee thanksºº
for ever:º
we will shew forthºº
thy praiseº
to allº
generations.º |

So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations. |
